Hey all, I’ve put together a community spreadsheet to collect and organize all of our interesting historic weather runs in TSW. Share any runs you personally enjoyed that really stood out with Winzarten’s Live/Historic Weather tool (ex: unique or extreme conditions like suddenly shifting weather patterns, challenging driving conditions, or unusual lighting that made that particular run feel special). Region(s) - pre-set list for all currently announced TSW regions (multiple choice for routes with territory overlap & color-coded for easy recognition) Route, Service Name/ID, & Loco/Train - to make each run/service easy to find Historic Weather Date & Start Time - use the route’s local time, not UTC Weather Summary - a short description of what made the weather unique or memorable (optional if you’d rather keep it a surprise) Weather Acceleration Speed - note your chosen speed; default is 1x (blank assumes default value) Difficulty - Easy, Medium, Hard, Extreme, or Mystery (blank assumes mystery) Submitted By - optional if you’d like to include your username! Feedback - share your feedback on any entry on the list. Just click the cell in the Feedback column that lines up with the entry you want to comment on. I've added a run I've discovered yesterday, and will most likely use for snow progression tuning... Semmeringbahn, with no snow at Wiener Neustadt, but with almost 30cm at Semmering, mostly clear weather, at sunset. A nice scenic run through the alps

Edit: Place screenshots in a Spoiler so you won't have to scroll through them every time. Okay I've got one. But I don't think I can add it, as its not a service. You have to spawn on foot on the Cajon Pass at San Bernardino Yard and then place a train. What I did was, place a C40-8W. (I used the one that's 1.9km in length) Spawn in on December 26th at about 2.45PM and be ready to drive at 3pm. I've set my destination to Barstow East Departures, this will give you a 58 Mile run. If you set the annotations app to historical weather with the year at 2019, you'll start your run at about 10 degrees celsius, with about 50% cloud cover. Enjoy the scenery in nice and sunny weather, but don't get used to it After about an hours drive, it will start to rain, slowly at first, but increasing in intensity. As you continue to climb it will get colder, and the rain will turn to snow at some point. After about 15 minutes or so, you'll be enjoying a merry snowy Christmas. Or so you think at that point The higher you'll get, the lower the visibility gets, did I mention there was a snow storm that day? Once you get to Summit, and you start your descent the visibility drops to 300 feet and even less at some point! Depending on your bravery with your speed down the mountain, your day will look more like a scary Christmas Eventually, once you descent far enough, visibility improves, and you'll be driving in a rainy evening. I was cautious during the descent, so it took me nearly 4 hours to get to Barstow. Spoiler
That actually looks like a ton of fun, especially with the added challenge of managing speed down grades! I’ll add that one for you tonight!
Didn't think about this when I drove it, but visibility might be better if you set the headlights to dimmed. (Less reflection)
Update: There’s now a new column where you can add your own public feedback to any entry on the list. Just click the cell in the Feedback column that lines up with the entry you want to comment on. From there, you can type your note and also see any comments that others have left for that same entry.
Okay, I've got another interesting one. No snow this time, but arriving at Doncaster on the ECML during a thunderstorm. First, set the app to historic weather, and the year to 2024. Spawn on foot on the 12th of August at Peterborough at 9.40AM. (I was using the intermodal timetable) Walk to the yard in front of the station and spawn a 10 car NMT HST. Set a path to the siding on the left just past Doncaster. Your path should have you pass on the left of the station at 25MHP. Start driving at 9.45AM, you should arrive in the Doncaster area around 10.30. Your run will start with sunny weather, about 30% clouds and ~25 degrees C. During the drive cloud levels will vary. Now, you will get several double yellows, you can ignore most of them, as they should turn to green just before you pass them most of the time. Spoiler: Arriving at Doncaster
You're quite welcome If you feel like driving the 1H07 (390) service starting at 06:53 on the WCMLS timetable mod by OTS, you'll get foggy weather if you drive it on the 21st of September 2024, and a thunderstorm if you drive it on the 22nd. (About 12-13 mm/H rain) That, and plenty of AI traffic. I haven't got time to add them right now, didn't finish the 2nd one either, but I'll add them tomorrow after work. Or, if you want to add them yourself that's fine too.
Just started using this on Preston - Carlisle and it's fantastic. If anything, it's almost too realistic as almost every run I've done so far with historic weather has been overcast lol I like that on some of the winter runs I get snow on the ground at Shap summit (January the 10th 1986 for example), and as I descend towards Lancaster the snow gradually fades away.
Got another one, if you're in the mood for a 2 hour+ run on the Antelope Valley Line. Its service AV 209 starting at LA Union at 09:39, which is an all stop all the way to Lancaster. Set the app to historic, and the year to 2019, set the date to February 2nd. It starts of with light rain which transitions to heavy rain in ~15 minutes. Towards the end it slowly starts to clear up, and by the time you reach Lancaster its pretty much clear with just a bit of rain.
We've got a moderate snow event moving through the Appalachian mountains at the moment (USA), so head into ur games and enjoy the live weather for either Sand Patch Grade / Horshoe Curve (red dots)
Dresden-Leipzig IC(2442) Köln to Dresden with the original 101 at 15:28 Run it December 9, 2022 at a weather speed of 8x . In addition to some bonus LZB action you get . . . Spoiler: Know the Route well if you go HUDLess! . . . wet platforms at the start and a magnificent transition into heavy fog as you approach Riesa where visibility gradually decreases to about 150 ft and you transition out of LZB. Dare you run it HUDless? Will you recognize the Riesa approach in the dense fog? As you slowly ascend out of Riesa, the fog equally slowly clears for a pink/purple cloudy sunset into Dresden. The weather teased snow the whole way, but it didn't quite happen. Weather transitions are excellent with this app. Thank you, Winzarten !
A run posted both here and in the Awesome Services thread: Dresden Leipzig ICE (1594) Dresden Hbf to Wiesbaden at 16:19 with the BR 411 DB ICE. The driving challenges involve early PZB action out of Dresden Neustadt and LZB action near Leipzig bleeding into LZB Ende. Run it Dec 11, 2018. I used an 8X transition speed, but it may be better at 4-5. Spoiler: Just Do It! Start with nice snowcover and light snowfall. As you approach Riesa, the snow turns to rain and the snow cover gradually fades away - love that! After Riesa, the rain stops only to return as "wintery mix" with a bit a sleet mixed in with rain as the temperature descends towards freezing.
I've got one on the Linke Rheinstrecke. Service 45879 starting at 4:17PM using the BR194. Drive it on March 14th 2002 with 5x transition speed. (Watch out for red signals) Spoiler: Last snow before spring It starts fully clouded with a little rain which will intensify somewhat. Once you reach St. Goar the rain will change to snow, and you will be driving in a winter wonderland. Cloud levels will drop a little and you'll be treated to a nice sunset. (Looks better if you're using the Lighting mod by Jetwash)
I've got another one on the same route, using the same train. Its service number 44404 starting at 1:10PM. Set the date to September 28th 2025 with 10x transition speed. Spoiler It starts out with 73% clouds, but given that the transition speed is set to 10x, the cloud level will vary greatly throughout your run. However you can expect a mostly relaxing run with lots of sunshine. Although the first 20 minutes or so the cloud level will be around 70%. After about 24 minutes, if you stick close to the speed limit, it will start to become foggy. At first at about 19KM visibility, but it will soon drop to 4 to 5 KM. As you continue your drive visibility will go back up to ~10KM. So relax and enjoy the scenery, it looks awesome with the sun shining through the fog. All in all it should be a milk run even with the HUD turned off. Nothing bad will happen, I promise Spoiler
Stuttgart - Heilbronn FIR 51882 Mannheim Rbf Gr D - München Nord Rbf at 07:08 13 December 2025, I used live weather Hard difficulty Spoiler Enjoy a silly dense fog while navigating very adverse signalling (you'll pass multiple "Expect stop", "Expect stop on unusually short distance" and "Unsecured path, obstacles possible" types of aspects) while in controls of a long train with single-release brakes. I was crawling through the whole yard below 20 km/h with ass clenched, sorry dispatcher.
I am not sure it quite counts as an exceptional weather run, but I just did: IC (2449) Leipzig to Dresden at 07:28 with the 101. I ran it with 8X and on in game year on December 14. Operationally it is a nice run with some LZB action behind a S4 to Wurzen and then a freight into Riesa. However, what really made it a great run for me was the fact that you start out with wet platforms at Leipzig and just a touch of snow on the ground, The snow cover gradually clears and then slowly returns all way into Dresden by which time the ties are covered. So nice and so immersive! Very grateful for this app!
