One of my favourite routes is Salzburg - Schwarzach-St. Veit. Here an ÖBB 1016 poses in front of a very colourful building just outside the station. IRL an apartment block I believe.
Another route I love, the Bernina Line: Poschiavo - Tirano Route. This is a ABe 8/12 Allegra seen from a bird's eye view.
The West Highland Line Extension between Fort William and Mallaig with the updated BR Blue Class 37 and stock like the TTA wagons is the best looking route I've driven so far. That said, the above capture is a bit too standard and this one is nicer with the Mk2(e) coaches.
My long-time favourite is the Canadian Mountain Passes between Eldon and Revelstoke through Lake Louise, Yoho, Field and Golden. It's my choice of setting and it has the best variety of grades, speeds, single and double track. It's also the only US route with TSC-compatible coupler settings. This coal drag is led by the standard GE ES44AC in CP Red.
Donner Pass is not a new route, but it has lots of DLC available and differences in locations. Here is the resort city of Reno, the state capital of Nevada, lit up at night with an Amtrak F40PH heading towards the pass.
The Wutachtalbahn: Lauchringen – Immendingen is a great single track rural German route with some unique structures. A DB BR232 does a rare freight run along it.
Not just the TSC competition. There are similar complaints in the TSW competition, which has also gone several weeks past judging time.
