Looking at a Reskin I installed today the "instalme" is usually a installme.bat file that copied the various files required for a reskin to work
I think preinstall means that it is checking whether you have enough disk space. I do have games that do this when updating. Another message I get before installation is allocating disk space.
Maybe, but it would surprise me a batch file do that. As for the install-me.bat, I've often had paths errors and the thing doing nothing at the end. Plus you won't be aware immediatly of what it has done (or not) as the window will close without you having the time to read. The batch will often remain afterward in the Assets folder, but the 7z.exe is always removed succesfully. The habit I eventually developed was to add "pause" at the end of the file so I had time to check if everything has gone as planned.
