Im getting so fed up of this garbage game now. I have not been able to get in this at all today every time i try just CTD on the loading screen.
I have kind of given up on TSW the last week or so to be honest. Been playing other stuff and the time seems to pass just as well, plus the other games actually work as intended and never crash, never, not once. Waiting to see how January patches go before deciding if I have a future with the game or not.
On PC... I just tried to load into the saved scenario I created for DCZ using the E94 and the Umbauwagon/Silberlinge coaches and... CTD. So off to play Snowrunner or ETS2, luckily I'd only driven a short distance in the scenario but what's the point of starting over if the same thing happens again.
No issues here on Xbox. Played TSW6 earlier today and just played some old routes on TSW5, both without issues. I'm not connected to Dovetail live in game, so maybe that's the difference.
Saying that hiw can you off line without getting into the game . Or do I just disconnect xbox from Internet.
I hadn’t experienced crashes for going on 4 years but since the last update I’ve been plagued with them. Thought it was just me
On PC/Steam here. I've experienced a few crashes during loading with UE error message coming up. I clear the message and start again, loads the second time. Only started this nonsense after the last patch and appears to be random as mostly it loads without issue.
We currently can't get past the loading screen on Xbox Series X. Now playing other games instead, with no issues. Won't be buying any more add ons until the game actually works.
I've had crashes on Peninsula Corridor. I'm on PS5. My patience with this game is done. Dusted off Crash Bandicoot and Spyro!! Lame?? Yes!! But fun!!
On Series X here and everything is fine. Competed recent runs on BLD, BPO, HAR, MITT and PSC, even saw quite a bit of snow, and no problems, even the texture problems were better than usual. I must admit that I did get the exceedingly strange CTD after 50 minutes on Mittenwald. I have learned to live with that one because to me the trade-off (better distant scenery) is worth it. Here are my recommendations for better play on Series X: Limit the amount of routes you have downloaded. I mostly limit myself to 23-26 active routes. This can also help reduce the initial startup time. Limit the amount of custom liveries you have for the entire game. I try to stay at no more than 24. I also try to limit the liveries that can appear on any route to just four. Remember that no more than five liveries can appear in any single driving session anyway. It helps to stay in the cab, or to use to head-out cameras. Layer management can make a big difference. For instance, on Leipzig -Dresden and also FTF I turned off just the "museum" layers and noticed an improvement. And how much difference do the these "museum" layers make to gameplay anyway? To me, not much. It is true that some say running HD instead of 4K can make a difference as well, but I run everything in 4K, even FTF, and like I said I haven't been particularly impacted by blurry textures. But it is certainly something to try. Also, somebody else recently noted that if you don't use Quick Resume, and instead close the game every time you are done, this can help matters as well. To be clear, the game can be made better on console and DTG must make improvements. In the meantime, these suggestions might make some of your experiences better. Or perhaps not. Well there is always Battlefield 6 I suppose.
I'm on Xbox Series S and can not load the game. It gets about halfway on the loading screen then crashes. Never had this problem before it just started this morning.
Can anyone get in the game this morning. Gets half way through loading screen then CTD. DTG Alex DTG Harry are aware if they are any problems with xbox.
Yesterday everything was fine, today I had multiple crashes on TSW6 as well om TSW5. Most of the time the first run goes fine, but going back to menu can give a crash or a second run crashes on loading screen. The loading screen then displays for quite some time before the crash. As it is in both TSW5 and 6, it don't seems to be caused by an update, more like a connection failure to for example Dovetail Live. For the people playing on PC and having crashes, does the UE error message give some information about the cause? I never logged on to Dovetail Live from the game, and I'm able to play the game the first run, so my guess is, there is something going on with Dovetail Live, causing crashes.
Just tried to load again, and again halfway through loading, crashed to home screen. We don't use any custom liveries, but do have 128 add-ons installed. Not willing to start uninstalling and installing different ones depending on what we want to play, as we shouldn't have to. We like to play different routes each time to keep it varied. Will play Two Point Museum instead.
First day for a few weeks I’ve had chance to have a sesh on TSW and yes CTD constantly. thanks DTG for this lovely fecking Christmas present. Fancy me wanting to spend what little time I have to myself playing a game I’ve invested hundreds and expecting it to be a positive experience. No doubt it will be like this until the new year given that other than a couple of marketing team working they are all on leave I believe
As a postscript to my experience earlier in the thread, appears the CTD might have been caused by a wonky consist I put together with the E94 for a Scenario Planner run on DCZ. This seems the case as despite running when I first created the scenario and allowing me to save, when I tried to start the scenario tonight it gave me a consist invalid for route or words to that effect error. Went back into the consist editor, knocked out a couple of Bn's and lo and behold now loads, saves and reloads okay. Sort your LOVE out Dovetail... 1. Why was the consist not declared invalid when I first allocated it to the path but was able to start the scenario? 2. Why when it crashed on attempting to load the save did it simply CTD rather than actually remaining in the game and clearly stating what the issue was, so I could attend to it? So finally off to sample the E94 on DCZ but should not have had to jump through hoops to get here!
I play TSW1 and it works great, but TSW6 is so buggy!! With each update it gets worse and worse, and I'd even say with each new DLC... My resolution for 2026: Abandon this game and this studio of middle schoolers forever. I think I've given them enough money for their parties over the last six years. Well 12 hours later I was able to try to play TSW and everything seems to be okay. Sounds like there might have been a problem with Dovetail Live. Has it been working again for everybody? Also, on my list of tips and tricks for Xbox I did forget to mention one, which is not to use volumetric fog. I have found that this helps a lot. I would be interested in knowing if anybody has tried some of these suggestions, and if they have helped.
Ive not been around here all that long,ive a fair bit of DLC,not as much as some of you but i have to admit this is one of the most bugged games ive played in a very long time.Having to turn off features for a smooth experience is laughable in my opinion. Some of my other games on PS5 and XSX have niggling issues,but not like the ones on TSW.It is what it is i guess. To be honest,i came into the TSW games with my eyes closed a little bit,i liked the idea of a train sim and still do so i bought the game before joining this forum,so i suppose thats on me.
Well, they promise a lot about fixing issues, but when bugs from the first TSW1 routes are still unsolved, I do not have many hope they get their act together. Those buggy routes are still sold for EUR 29,99 and each iteration of the game is abondened with a lot of bugs ramaining. If you're lucky, they solve some of them in the next iteration of the game, but with every next game you also get new bugs. Besides this, because of the layering system, old routes are still required to get all traffic on new routes. For example, Rapid Transit is required for Dresden - Leipzig, but RT is still buggy as hell and also still sold for EUR 29,99. On Dresden - Leipzig, the BR1442 has no working PIS from what I've seen and the sounds are laughable... That's our Dovetail Games.....
Well I guess this is an on going issue. I might is well turn off dove tail live myself. Because when I have that turned off it doesn’t crash. Or maybe let go 4K. Well I have a lot of DLC relating to TSW. But anyway I don’t know ♀️ such a big problem.
Today I installed TSW3 together with the old routes from TSW1 and TSW2. Bought recently a key on a online marketplace, never tried the basegame of TSW3 before. Everything is working fine and for the first time I was able to a run on the non remastered version of Dresden - Riesa. Men, how on earth did they manage to ruin this route so badly. It always felt there was something off with this route, color of trees, contrast and a cartoony look overall. Well, the original route looks great with natural colors, it's a bit darker, but by moments it feels like watching a vid of the real thing.
I'm wondering if it's a core Xbox thing (maybe a rogue update?) because games that I play regularly without issue (Pinball FX, Deep Rock Survivor, Raft) have also started to CTD for no obvious reason. And then there's Microsoft Edge and the nightmare experience when trying to load a video intense webpage! It was virtually impossible to view the Steam black Friday event due to their new look homepage flat refusing to load the offers....and at one point I couldn't even access my wishlist.
Normally with XBL outages though you'll either get thrown out of a game with the obligatory "you need to own this game...." message or your console flat refuses to launch a game. What I've experienced recently (and what some TSW users are also experiencing) is whatever I'm playing completely shutting down for no reason. I even bought Formula Legends a couple of weeks ago and that also suffers with random CTD's.
I also had some CTD's, on both TSW5 as 6. It happened when loading a timetable service or while going back to the main menu. I always was able to load the game itself. Lot of connections are going through Xbox Live anyway, so big chance the connection to Dovetail Live is going trough Xbox Live. As people mentioned in this thread, in offline mode it was working normally, I still suspect Xbox Live as the cause of the problems.
Other games have been fine for me, not a single issue. But I have not played TSW for quite a few days now, so that might be fine as well, who knows. Maybe this is just impacting certain areas?
Just had another CTD with my E94 Railtour created in Scenario Editor, trying to load the save game. Given up on it, what's the point in using the planner if every chance you go to resume a saved run from it the game just crashes. POS buggy software.
