When departuring from a stand still you have to push “R” upon the warning tone. After that the deadmansbutton is “enter”.
Ok abandoned 4 th attempt - was going well with RSC and now figured out with English keyboard guide I need to press R Key when starting off. However now have some alarm constantly sounding in cab even though train driving ok. Will start again for 5th time
OK maybe I missed a PRAP warning, I think the RF may release emergency brakes. I am keeping going to beat this thing! When you mentioned just clicking on keyboard for RAP that is obviously what I was seeing and not understanding. Anyway had to break off for now having reached Santhia' driving with RSC. Having been peering through a murky windscreen I find I have a windscreen washer so all clear again!! So much to learn! This is a really deep simulation of the Minuetto. Also need to study the signal guide more. Thanks again for bringing this to TSC.
Yes, RF is needed to "Re-arm Emergency Brake" when it happens. Depending on its state (flashing or always on), this can be done or when train is completely stopped or, for minor reasons, even when the train is moving. If a PRAP was missing you've to stop, push RF to rearm, put eventually the traction lever to neutral, and then, when brake pressure is again at 5 bar, put traction lever again forward to restart... I now can be complex at the beginning, but it will be more and more natural when use to...
Hooray - completed first scenario - just caught out a couple of times as do not yet fully understand warnings on RSC etc.
AC66 Hi there. Is there any way to delete the parked stock that seems to be hardcoded into the route, but from the scenario editor? I would really like to decide for myself what is parked on the sidings when i do scenarios.
Is this going to be on Steam to purchase? I'm forced to buy in US$ from JT, and the exchange rate isn't very favourable. On Steam, buying in my own currency, it is usually about $10 or so cheaper.
Hi Kim. At the moment not. This was a long discussion even on SFM. A lot of people appreciate to have this static RS in some yards, other not. I improved the 3D and the texture in respect to SFM, and I tried to limit them on "fake" track to avoid problem to scenario's creator. This is especially true in Orbassano and some other yard. But yes, there are some track where this train are placed that are real track (I would say especially in Torino Porta Nuova and Lingotto). Let me know your opinion if I need to think to delete them or not. On one side, as I told you, a lot of people appreciate to have low performance impact trains around to avoid desert ambient and to avoid to put static rolling stock with higher performance impact. Maybe, if it is critical for the creators, we can think to get rid of the ones in Porta Nuova and Lingotto.
Finished second scenario which was a whole series of emergency brake applications. Have read signal manual 3 times and I pass a signal that say 60kph is ok and am doing 30kph and on go the brakes. Sometimes they apply when not even passing a signal. Trying to fully understand what the RSC is reporting as well. How are others getting on.
Still working through the Leeds NW Route and the Buchan Line (also the Ulm-Augsburg dropped recently) a lot of TSC routes came up at the same time (Christmas?). Seems like I don't have enough hours in a day available with family commitments etc. Cant complain. Still enjoying TSC when I get to play (TSW is back on the shelf)
Here is a quick guide that will help you a bot in RSC mode, even if you don’t quite understand it yet. If PRE or RIC lights up, push them with their keycommands. That should get you through most situations.
Hi. Not sure to have correctly understood what is happening but keep in count one point (I try to make a long story short regarding RSC). When you're approaching a more restrictive signal, the RSC "lamp" on screen will turn from a square green to a square white. To avoid EB you need to push the RIC button within 3 sec. This situation happen when you pass for example a signal green and the next is Yellow-green (aspect that means that the 3rd signal is protecting a deviate path with speed reduction). Now, if the more restrictive signal causing the first white lamp is a signal that warn that the next one is protecting a deviate with reduced speed, than when you'll pass this warning signal, than the white lamp and the tone will be raised again, and you'll have again to push on the RIC button within 3 sec. Immediately after having pressed the RIC, the PRE button will light up and the yellow RV square lamp switch on on the display. This means that before the next signal (protecting the deviated path at reduced speed) the PRE button has to be pushed. I mean immediately before and not more than 12 seconds before passing the signal. If not done or done not properly, the EB start. Every time you're approaching this situation, you'll have this sequence. Being more difficult to explain that to show, I prepared a short video to show you. But I do not know if it is possible in this forum to put external ink to wetransfer. If yes, I'll upload it and put the link here...
I would say that for this route just leave it as it is, and if you at some point plan on extending it, use more real track and less fake track with baked in consists. I am not worried about performance really. You can have a LOT of parked stock without it impacting performance particularly much. The thing is, for me, that i use spawn points for parked stock. That way it’s never the same and if the probability of spawning is less than 100% then even parked stock placement will vary each time you open a drive. Not seeing the same wagons, engines and carriages the same place, run after run, helps keep the route fresh. But ofcourse that’s only possible in quick drives. Personally, i would like all track to be real track, because i think it is the scenario creators that kerp a route alive years after it’t release. But, as i said, consider this on an eventual next route. Concentrate on what is needed (if any) in regards to bugfixing, and put your efforts into new stuff. It’s lovely that we finally got som Italian payware.
AC66 I think there is a missing asset. The data transmitters that should be between the tracks, besides the signals, show up as milkbottles.
Kim, any chance to send me a scrshot or at lease one of the tile and coord where this happen? Or (but I'm not sure) if double clicking on bottle will tell you which is the missing asset name... PS IF you're referring to the yellow data transmitter immediately before a signal in the middle of the track, this is part of the SCMT plugin. But I feel you've installed (and activated) in the scenario/route you're having these bottles, isn't it?
Ahhh that might be the cause. I actually do not have it installed, because i’ve always used an old version of WC e464 when driving SFM. The name of the asset is sst~pi.xml I’ll install it and see what happens. Btw. I made a short qd scenario from Novara to Vercelli and i also had the problem that all signals were red. Are you absolutely sure the signalscripts are in the installer? I’ve seen several reports of only red signals across different forums.
AC66 I installed the wc scmt plugin. The datatransmitters are there now. Regarding the signalscripts. Without the scmt plugin the signals are stuck on red. I don’t know what is a good solution for this, but normally payware routes have functioning signals without an extra download. I think, if possible, you may want to do something about this in order to prevent some not so good feedback. If Worcester Gorge will not license them to you (or just trains) i think it would be a good thing to update the manual with the info that this is an essential download.
This sounds strange. As soon as I can I'll try it (changing the folder of WG and see what happens). If this is the case, I did not understand the root cause. BTW the signal scripts are there because is mine. Not from WG.
Here on my end, the signals did not start working untill i installed the scmt plugin. Very strange indeed. Perhaps it was just a coincidence, but i did open the qd svenario 5 times (with all red signals) before i installed the plugin. And then after that the signals worked. Additional info and a hunch: I could drive straight through the red signals even with RSC enabled. That led me to think that perhaps there is something in the code of the sst~pi asset that interacts with the signals that they depend on? I am thinking this because the peoole who reported the red signals error on other forums could very well be the kind of users that do not have any italian freeware (meaning no WC assets either)
Hi Kim, I think you did found an issue. I just made a quick test renaming the WG folder and it doesn't clear the signals... I feel that being the sst-pi a sort of signals, having not their script running because missing, they will not pass the message through them... This is a big issue for those do not have the plugin installed. I have not seen in forum I was aware this topic, but pls if you see them in the forum you're in, pls if you can suggest to them to install as a temporary workaround the WG plugin. I'll get in contact with him to find a solution but unfortunately JT is not able to share a new release due to vacation. This is one stuff escaped during testing, maybe because all of the testers had the plugin installed. f.......
Very helpful - will print this out now - I had not picked up anything about pressing RIC and PRE buttons at all in what I have read. The keys illustrated in the Minuetto guide are very indistinct.
Hi Chris, maybe you can look at the video published by JT here . Look at min 33 to the end. There is exactly the sequence I described.
Hi there AC66 I will for sure keep an eye on the forums and tell users to install the plugin as a workaround. I’ve heard other payware developers say that the first payware DLC is the hardest one because the testing learning curve is the steepest. Next time you are aware of all the little errors that can creep in. Anyway: I wish you a very merry Christmas.
Thank you Kim. Yes, it could happen especially because of the huge amount of new contents, specific signals, etc. But has to be corrected. I'll try to do my best to do it soon, but it is also closure time in JT at the moment, and this will not help to be quick as the first issue reported. Anyway I wish you also a Merry Christmas...
Just Trains updated the FAQ's here to suggest the workaround for those have not the SCMT plugin installed and therefore having the signal problem. https://support.justflight.com/supp...49594-n-w-italian-railway-torino-novara-faq-s
On 3rd scenario I have a Dynamic Brake failure and battery failure so abandoned scenario for yet another lengthy read of manuals aftr Christmas
I'm not 100% sure, but it could be that the scenario 3 is the only one with a specific "scenario failure" inside. It could be the Dynamic Brake Failure. This is a sort of advanced driving feature that force the driver to follow a specific procedure. If it so (as I remember) it is nothing you've failed in driving the scenario, it is simply an unexpected loco failure to be managed (like fire alarm, engine problem, lubrification problem, passenger alarm, etc included in the Minuetto as a scenario advanced feature).
AC66 I’ve just finished the Novara -Torino Real Drive. I have to say that i am very impressed with the signal scripts. They can really handle a heavy load, in my scenarios, the possible variations are more than a million and i haven’t crashed the script yet, Also i am able to do stuff i can not always do in other routes. As to the route itself, i really like it. It hits the “Italian feel” very well. I’ve traveled a lot in northern italy, we sometimes call Lazise our second home, and i feel right at home in your route. Not sure if it’s too much work, but it’d be nice to have those scripts in SFM Torino, or at least the Torino Lingotto - Asti branch, as they always act “funny” compared to Torino - Modane.
AC66 A suggestion: Compared to Italian signals in real life, the visibility of the light is not strong enough. In real life i can certainly read an italian signal at about one km distance even in the daytime, In Torino Novara i have difficulties seeing the aspect at even 400m. So here is a plea, please make the signal aspects visible from greater distances. If there is something RSSLO gets right, it’s the distance from which the signals are readable. Schuster has great visibility on their signals too, as do the routes built by Maik Goltz (Konstanz - Hausach, Bremen Münster etc…)
Hi Kim. Thank you for the feedback. New signal scripts are quite complex, and I'm happy that they seem to be more robust in respect to the older ones. Unfortunately, to be able to use it for the free SFM route, it is necessary to change all the signals (that have a new 3D and a new way to be set up). And it is an effort that in this moment is for me impossible I agree. Tuning this light is quite a nightmare, but I'll review them as soon as possible, looking at the signals you mentioned me.
SFM Torino is still an amazing piece of freeware, even if the signals are more primitive. Awesome that you will take a look at the signal lights.
Agree SFM Torino a great route especially as it links up with a French Route at Modane. Completed scenario 3 having learnt to clear the various faults. Scenario 4 fine but I was late for a timed stop.
I did in the last days some correction/improvements and the future release is under testing in this moment, so I hope that as soon as possible will be available. Other than improving the signal lights, I did create new tracks (strategy to include them still to be defined). Other fix will be cited in the manuals.
Fantastic. I’ll PM you about the quick drives asap . No time now, preparing for a gig tomorrow, I have 7 songs to learn….
New release to be published will be sent in the next days to JT (that will restart working tomorrow after Christmas closure). Other than what already mentioned, I added sparkles on all the trains included in the route (Minuetto and AI's) and changed also the lights of the Minuetto (too strong according some judgement).
What are Sparkles? Do you mean the pantograph sparks when driving? If so does it do that all the time or just in Winter?
Yes, exactly. At the moment I decided only in winter and autumn. What do you think? Still in time today to change it if you have different ideas....
Winter and Autumn seems appropriate. I was wondering: Would it be possible to make an AI loco that can be used for freight? (Probably too much work, i know. So just a suggestion. Perhaps someone from the Italian train simming community would let you use one of those that already exists?)
Winter is ok but you would not see it all the time in Autumn as it normally happens when the wires are frosty
Honestly I do not have possibility to include external content to the route. But I'll think about it....
I was thinking more along the lines if someone was willing to donate an AI loco in support of the project. Would also come in handy if you do one more route. Which i hope you do, because what you did with this one is a great contribution to TSC payware.
Could other locos be used on AI trains - there is a lot of Repaints for FS Locos and stock. https://www.simtreni.net/download/index.php?subcat=1
Yes. I just prefer to only have a few dependencies for my Real drives. And then let people add preloads themselves if they want more trains than the approx 25 that my drives come with. Particualy if AC66 would like to include my drives in the installer. Then it’s not kosher to send buyers on a hunt for extra assets.
