Some recent phots; one final Corrour wide shot, a selection of IC225 at Wolverhampton and Stafford while working the 0745 Birmingham-Glasgow Central, and a Class 170 Turbostar hurrying across the Lincolnshire countryside en-route to Nottingham and beyond.

This is a run from Holyhead to Crewe with 1K67, hauled by a Class 31/4 deputising for the regular 37/4. I've repurposed the excellent AP scenario included with their 37 packs including making the weather rather more 'wintry'.

That’s some very nice atmospheric lighting! I caught that train about 20 years ago when it ran through to Brig via the privately operated Lotschberg main line and then made use of a good connection into a Milan express.

For a couple of years between Leeds electrification in 1989 and squadron introduction of IC225 sets in 1991, it was possible to see Intercity 125 sets running between London and West Yorkshire with the country-end power car replaced by a Class 91 electric loco. One of these hybrid sets also served Bradford Forster Square in the evening, the Class 91 being dragged from Leeds by the HST power car working alone.

The evening 'Yorkshire Pullman' to Bradford FS departs Leeds, being dragged by 43068 between Holbeck and Armley junctions.
(One must imagine that the overhead wires are not there!)
    20260111124327_1.jpg

    20260111124351_1.jpg

About 23 minutes later the set draws up to the buffers at Bradford, at exactly 1945hrs.
    20260111130140_1.jpg

A few hundred yards away, the hired-in Class 31 diesel awaits the road to enter Platform 1 and couple up to the dead 91 ready for the ECS drag back to Neville Hill depot. (The hybrid sets could not be driven from the 91 in pan-down mode.)

(Thanks again to the creators of this excellent Airedale & Wharfedale route, available through ATS.)

After allowing a train to pass at Allen, the train continued on it's journey to Elkhorn Yard, Kentucky roughly 22 miles from Allen. Along the way with night having now fallen the train proceeded to make two more pickups of coal along the way at the Steinman and Collco loaders while headed to the Elkhorn City area.

British Rail Class 121 '55031' '131' starting at Plymouth, England in the United Kingdom operates a northbound service to Gunnislake during a lovely 1990 Summers morning starting by traversing the Cornish Main Line for roughly 2 miles stopping at Devonport and Keyham before joining the Tamar Valley Line with a stop at St Budeaux Victoria Road. Afterwards the train continues another 7 miles stopping at Bere Ferrers and Bere Alston where once at Bere Alston a cab-switch is required to continue running the last 4 miles of the trip to Gunnislake with a stop in between at Calstock.

Haha yep!! Unfortunately you can’t change it when driving, at least there was nothing in the manual about how to do that and there was nothing in the manual about how to change the destination display through the scenario editor either so I just had to make do. ;)

I think it might be F7 / F8 to change the blind in-game?

Thanks, I’ll have to try and see if that works the next time I drive a Class 121. It’s bloody annoying when they don’t mention this sort of thing in the manual, which is supposed to tell you all about how to use and operate the train! :(

Some early-hours scenes at Plymouth on a chilly February morning in 1988.

The down 'Midnight' from Paddington has been standing at platform 4 for about an hour, with one of Laira's Class 50s at the head. At that time the sleeper was still a big train, with 5 seating coaches in addition to the 3 sleeping cars and guard's van all bound for Penzance. Across in platform 6, a heritage DMU waits to form the 0608 staff train to Newton Abbot and Exeter, whilst platform 8 hosts the early morning Intercity 125 departure to the north east.

Meanwhile at the other end of the station, the 0600 to Paddington departs. This was actually the second train of the day to London, there being an even earlier 0530 departure for businessmen needing to reach the capital before 0900.

Over in the parcels bays, the station pilot is still coupled to the SLE+BG detached from the sleeper for passengers to Plymouth allowing them to sleep on until a slightly more civilised hour. On the adjacent line, vehicles off the 0030 ex-Paddington parcels and newspaper train are being unloaded. A single motorail van has been conveyed on this service, carrying cars for those London-Plymouth sleeper passengers who wished to bring their vehicle to Devon. This slightly unusual working only applied in the down direction and was done to lighten the load slightly and make the Totnes departure (in particular) easier for the train locomotive. The Up sleeper by contrast conveyed its own Motorail vehicle(s) which were shunted out of the train after arriving at Paddington. Note also the three Mk1 BGs, each with a different variety of bogie - BR1 (90mph), B4 (100mph) and Commonwealth (100mph) examples. Those who remember 90mph travel on BR1-bogied vehicles are unlikely to remember it fondly!

Incidentally, the sleeper portion would later join the stock off the inbound overnight arrival from Glasgow and Edinburgh and be taken ECS to Laira T&RSMD by that train's locomotive, with the 08 remaining to act as daytime Plymouth station pilot.

At 0608 prompt, the DMUs rasp away towards Mutley tunnel. These sets would divide at Newton Abbot, the Class 118 proceeding down to Paignton for a morning stopping train to Exeter, whilst the Class 101 continued to Exeter to work a stopping train to Exmouth ready for the morning commuter rush.

Two pairs of shots from recent TSC runs.
Firstly, the northbound 'Cornish Scot' crossing Largin Viaduct and then departing from Liskeard a few minutes later:

And then two screenshots from the last 5 minutes of a scenario from the excellent Armstrong Powerhouse Class 87 pack. The driver's view of an arrival into Carlisle on a summer's evening in 1998, at the head of the 15:33 ex-London Euston.
