I'd give it up to 8/10 if there were interesting shunting services. The route has several branches to various enterprises, but do we really go there? Okay, you've made a short route. But why not do some interesting work on the branches? The shunting timetable is compiled on the principle of CTRL + C - CTRL + V, simply in a slipshod manner. A strong feeling that I bought an unfinished product.
The brakes on in the 140 are simulating a dual FE115 single release valve. That works. Of course the wagons behind the loco might all have graduated release brakes still. Try it with the loco standing still, watch the gauges, apply brakes a good amount, then release the lever only one step, the locos own brakes will completely release then and not only one step. EDIT: Of course you can re-apply the brakes while they are releasing on the loco but then you will not get the full pressure anymore and the more often you do that the less pressure will end up in the cylinders until the reservoir is empty and the loco will not brake anymore at all until you let the lever in release for a good amount of time to refill the reservoirs.
Nice job on the update! Makes the 140 an even better loco than it already is One thing which hasn't been mentioned in the update notes: The EBuLa brightness settings on the 140 work properly now And thanks for fixing the wiper bug! Bit of a shame though that the one on the BRO 110 still remains. In cab #2, the left wiper switch activates the right wiper and vice versa. Should be just as easy (if not easier) to fix.
Of course you are right! But allow me to quote Elvis Presley: "Oh yes, I'm a great pretender !" And during the years, I have pretended to be a pilot, a truck driver, a sailor and a train driver. So it's easy for me to pretend that the speed restrictions are valid at the signals by ignoring the TSW speed Hud. That's why I make my own "Buchfahrplan", switch off the signals/speed hud and use this as a reference. Still with much hope that DTG some day will fill the Ebula screens with life...
I didn't get around to testing if this occurred before today's patch however, that electric/off/diesel switch on the WiKo is literally useless when the WiKo is coupled with 218 the train moves when controlled by the WiKo regardless of the position of that switch, as long as the MUoperation mode switches are in ZWS mode on both 218 and WiKo
Fair enough, but the point is the other sims can do this correctly so why not TSW, which the Trains team at DTG are trying to convince us is the future of simulation...
Right, that switch does nothing yet. There was no time left to implement it and also no real idea how to implement it without the need for massive changes on the 218. The usual operation should still work (Enigne start/stop with Panto switch), but no gauges for engine status with the 218 at this time. That is basically what the switch normally does. It changes what the two gauges show and probably interchanges the controlled fault display at the ceiling.
On Xbox X it's still impossible to use the BR140 in formation designer. It looks like this and you cannot select anything else than the 140. The same as with the Diesel N-Wagen. Great!
This issue has been addressed and fixed, also for the diesel n-Wagens and the BR218. But no idea on how or when it will be released. I thought it was part of the patch for the 140 at least but seems not.
Thank you very much for this Info So come on DTG give us the patch!! I want to drive the 140 with passenger wagons!
Has the patch, by any chance, addressed this issue? dtg_jan ----> Note: Ps5 Missing Timetable Services For Stuttgart Heilbronn
Is the train line issue part of that messy side of things or could at least that be fixed so that the train lighting can work? Was trying out one of those services and they run at rush hours it seems, so outside might still be dark if not driven in July.
No, train line should work anywhere the same as usual. Also the train line at least for the n-Wagen has no effect at all since they are battery powered lights on each individual wagon. Not sure what is wrong with the train line. I think there was a change by someone else that was not intended and might have negative impacts now.
I've maid a ticket request for it and quoted your infos regarding this issue. I was able to complete one of those services, but it wasn't the best experience I've had on this magnificent route. Instead of lamenting about that service, let me thank you at this point for your awesome work on this DLC, especially the 140 and the WiKo. You've fullfilled two long standing community requests and created my personal favourite loco so far which I can't stop driving, but am running out of services left undriven slowly (which tells you all you need really). One possible road not taken for this issue and the route in it's set time period might have been the creation of a high entry Dosto from that era which could have been coded specifically for the rolling stock used on this route, also fullfilling a third long standing community request. But I don't want to complain at this point, as you've already given us plenty of new stuff to play around with on this route and, as I understand, coding a new Dosto would be "hell" for you, so at this point I'm grateful that you've given us what you gave us and didn't burn yourself out on a third completely new piece of rolling stock for this route. Keep up your great work but also give yourself some rest if you can. You seem to be the busiest bee of the DTG/TSG roster when it comes to asset creation and still manage to browse the forums and do some community work. I don't know how you do it without breaking down by this point, so take care Maik!
I think you get that a bit wrong. I'm not massively much responsible for all the work. I just did the setup and simugraph work for those two new vehicles and some extra on the existing ones. That's all. I'm not doing any 3d art creation for DTG nor anything else. This is all done by all the people at DTG.
Not sure if it has been mentioned here somewhere, but I am being spawned on foot with about 70% of the services I have tried to run in the 140 on PS5 Pro. I‘m guessing this has to do with missing layers on our platform? Only stsrted playing the route yesterday after the patch.
I actually just answered someone else, and someone posted the link, but I believe yes, https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...table-services-for-stuttgart-heilbronn.95713/. Try uninstalling Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn: Mannheim - Kaiserslautern if you haven't already. If you don't have it, let me know, and I can see if we have more info.
The missing speed signal 130kmh is still missing at kilometer 43.6km in the direction towards Heilbron. In real lif it's there, see 35.10min
We are working on it, I do know that, but I don't have an exact date for it to be fixed. I think that Jan said it was one of the more complex issues, so hopefully soon, but it may be a while before it's fixed.
There is more involved than just the Wiko for getting this away. Also the n-Wagens and the BR111 from the route need the update to solve that. It's all prepared/fixed. But maybe not completely rolled out yet.
This isn't mentioned in the route update changelog either, so it's quit safe to assume that the fixes you suggested haven't been implemented(?!). That's annoying, considering DTG doesn't know when the next update will be released. These drastic fluctuations are really making me seasick. Can someone else check if the cab's behavior has changed (or not)?
Quick fix for that is to uncouple the loco, and couple it again with the loco coupler being the one that is actively coupled. That will remove the 25cm gap that is there because of the different coupler lengths on the wagons. But the buffer bounciness is still there then. This trick just eliminates the huge bumps.
Maik Goltz Will this fix apply to the Karlsruherkopf as well? This problem exits on Bremen Oldenburg also and is not realistic. So please fix this Its not realistic and indeed not pleasant to experience
jesper2805 The jerking motion of the Karlsruher is nowhere near as drastic as that of the Wittenberger. In my opinion, the latter definitely has priority. I've never gotten sick playing TSW before. I'll try the workaround and see if it helps. Thanks for the info Maik Goltz
They are/were exactly the same. The difference is the loco. The 111 has more power and different regulation and pushes more what makes the effect more noticeable. And just one thing in want to say about that. It is not wrong how it is simulated (except the unwanted gap). The real problem with it is the cab camera sway that acts wrong and way to sensible. If you would switch that off, the bounciness is like on the real thing. When you have a ride on these old trains you can easily feel that behaviour being present.
Yeah, somewhat, definitely not 100% correct because i have no information about the buffer strengths of the real things. But it basically counts for all tap changer locos (except Thyristor controlled ones) when they are pushing. Also some locos are limited to a maximum TE or Ampere when pushing (mostly modern locos like a BR120). There are way more forces applied than when pulling a train. And the harmonica effect gets stronger the longer the train is. I'm not really sure but i guess some wagon types are being coupled on extra buffer pressure because of that, what is possible in TSW, but not really working because of the less/not adopting coupler lengths. And also i'm unsure if the buffer springs act correctly when doing that. I got the feeling, when i was trying that coupling with the 110 on BRO, that the stiffness is not raising with the pressure, what doesn't help at all to prevent the bounciness.
Can I ask about the brake mode selector in BR140? It's set to passenger mode by default. I usually switch it to cargo mode. What does it change, and which mode is best for driving? On other routes and locomotives, I believe, this parameter was set automatically based on the train's weight. On the BR140, it's always in passenger mode. And the PZB mode is always 0. Although on other locomotives, even on the same trip, the PZB M and brakes are automatically selected in freight mode. I'd really like more information. After all, the locomotive has a really interesting braking system, and while I'm getting used to it, I've collected more Zvanbremsungs than I did in the entire last year.
The brake setting depends on the total train Weight. Until 800ton you can use the P setting. But the Pzb modus also depends on trein Weight and speed. So you can experience a lot of difference driving styles with the same locomotive. 0-800 t: P/P (loco/wagons) 800 t-1200 t: G/P 1200 t - 1600 t: LL (loco + 5 first wagons in G, rest in P) 1600 t - 4000 t: LL but different minimum weights on wagons https://www.drehscheibe-online.de/foren/read.php?003,9772552,9776003
I've encountered this table before, but before the BR140, locomotives were configured according to it. And, frankly, I even forgot about it because everything was always relatively correct by default. I don't mind having this kind of interactivity with the settings on this locomotive, but it's a bit odd that it doesn't automatically adjust like the others.
The motion sway is indeed way over done. I have edit this in my ini file to have a better experience but its not perfect Its dealing with a bad system.
Hey folks, thank you for your continued reports. I've started checking the reports that came in over the holiday break, and am currently creating tickets for issues that were previously unknown. I will check back in with you once I've completed recording all the outstanding issues from this thread. As an additional note, the recent hotfix we released for Stuttgart Heilbronn, originally scheduled before the holidays, was just a smaller patch. We are currently working on a larger patch, which should hopefully be approved and shared soon. Once it's ready, we'll share the news on our official channels. All the best, Jan
The others don't automatically adjust. Every loco model in TSW has presets which are the default setup. These usually are appropriate to that engine's typical employment - a 146 will be set to P and O, a 185 to G and M. But if the consist varies - for example a 110 with freight wagons, or a 185 with a heavy train - then the default settings will be wrong and you should change them. The anomaly here is that the 140 was built as a freight loco and SHB uses it that way, but the default settings are typical passenger settings. noir has created a splendid spreadsheet tool for calculating, according to proper DB methodology, the correct brake and PZB modes and allowable top speed (it's very complicated and the spreadsheet takes all the variables into account so you don't have to run down the train with a calculator adding up individual brake-weights...)
Don't forget to collate the items which were posted in the Patch thread, which Candace arbitrarily closed without moving the relevant posts over here to continue discussion. As you may have seen, Maik is already looking into the issue I had of the BR 140 rolling over on its side when stationary with the caveat there may be a wider core bug from TSW4 reintroduced with 6 at work here.
It's still visible, I just closed posting additional comments since we had a post-patch feedback thread that was more visible. That's all. I already linked the post to Jan the other day, though.
I try to explain why I close posts so it's not a surprise, because I've been on the other side before. Let me know if I need to change it up, though, and I will.
Thank you very much. I do have one question though. In rare cases, two BR140 locomotives are used, and I wonder if the brake mode selector needs to be switched on the second locomotive as well, or just on one?
