Totally. But I also can see, why one might think the routes become boring. All routes you mentioned are on the big island in the North Sea. I can't think of such a route in the continent, maybe with Dresden als an exception. I still have a little bit hope for a real network route in TSW but it is fainting by every roadmap stream.

Frankfurt S-bahn also have multiple routes and is a network, but most of them are S-bahn routes ofcourse. But I don't know if the lack of a network makes a route boring. For me it's more like a lot of routes are boring because of not having scenery highlights or the drive itself is just at a almost the same speed and only a few stops. BCC is one of my favourite UK routes, because lot of speed changes, lot of stops and the the scenery is not to bad either and changing trough out the route. Even with the default timetable and one nice train I still enjoy it very much.

Guys what's the plan for the photo when we get to page 157? I think we need to start preparing now. At this rate it'll happen by June and that's not much time to get obscure unbuilt units from 1993 into production

Sometimes you do wonder why we bother with this bug ridden piece of software. Just as a example over the last few days…

Monthly Mastery all over the place showing different levels of (non) completion each time you go into it.

Class 380 still has brakes like an electromagnetic clamp when you apply them.

DB Class 140 rolled over and derailed while stationary.

Class 158 has decidedly nerfed sounds.

Train service on the SHG Fife timetable virtually non existent after 1900.

JT ATW Class 142 has exhaust smoke coming through the saloon roof when stationary.

These issues for the most part logged and reported previously but DTG sit on their hands and do fudge all. Even the “new” community managers from the external PR company seem to have vanished…

Just wondering if the announcements are broken at the moment? Have been away from the sim for a while and seem to be getting less or sometimes no announcements at all, especially regarding the station announcements? Was OK about a month ago.

I didn't bother much with it during the winter sale. Even -90% off for a route I've had on wishlist hasn't convinced me to get it. Well, I still watch subscribed topics in the forum and new announcements or articles in hope something significantly improved or something I've been waiting for finally released, but I think the earliest I'll touch TSW again will be the GWE remaster, and next probably only after Tadami or another unique release, like DB BR 23 (of course if they don't have plenty of unresolved issues), or after another remaster of the routes I loved playing in TSW2020 and TSW2.

Honestly at this point I've pretty well settled on sticking with 5 up till at least 7 comes out, nothing really interests me at the moment. I'm not convinced any of the content I'm interested in is going to be out before the summer. And JT's next route, which is just about the only thing I'm sure will both be out soon and be solid, just kind of seems like more of the same, no fun and quirk new stock additions, nor massive jaw dropping increase in detail or length over their prior offerings.

And honestly without that I just don't see the point of buying it day one, I've kind of got enough BR content to last at least till the heat death and rebirth of the universe. Like seriously, after all these years I've only just now got down to the final two services for the 31 on the default timetable on TVL. And I've still got tons of services left for everything else, especially the 101, oh god I've got so many of those runs left before I ever hit completion!

No point buying anything day one really!!

All need at least one patch and some even more.

Made the mistake with Cargo line 5. and still not used the Class 20, as been waiting for a patch for ages. Could have just bought it this week and not missed out on anything.

Could we please be more precise on that (Images, Videos, repro steps, overall situation). I invested days in finding new and working suspension settings for the 140. And as i can see they are rolled out. I never experienced any tip over again with the new settings while testing it. I even let her standing after harsh braking on a SE curve for 30 minutes and watched and waited for unhappy things happening (what was the problem before) but nothing happened for me there. So, no clue what is broken now again. Next step is probably to switch off suspension at all to overcome that problem. I don't like the (working) standard settings where you have a feeling of driving a foam block over the pure sleepers and so, i will not apply them to the loco just for having any suspension.

I outlined what happened in the patch thread which Candace kindly locked.

However you cannot seriously suggest that every time we do a run on TSW we should be recording a video clip of it. This is supposed to be a game we are playing to enjoy, not a technical support mission. Same as taking screenshots, by the time the event has happened it's too late.

Anyhow as I noted in the locked thread this may not necessarily be an issue with the loco, more of a core thing as since TSW6 released I have also had it occur with a Class 385 on BML (PS5 version) and the Jubilee steam loco on Spirit Of Steam.

But at the same time you can't expect me (as the developer on that specific thing) reproducing problems, i can not experience at all, without exact information when where and how they happening. I would admit if it would be once happening to you, but you already mentioned it a few times now over a good time period. So maybe i could ask for more details on that then. And if it is a core issue now, what i am not aware of, i am searching for something i cant even find because i am not searching for it. Those things are not popping right into the developers face when debugging. It could me need to drive that loco for days or weeks just to make it happening once. Should be no excuse, i know, i have to drive it to death when developing it. But that is already what i always do. There is a barrier on what can be done and what not. So, asking for help from the actual players is valid, i would think.

I am not sure if you were engaged in Garnichpartenkirechen route, but if so, is the case of 50-60 minutes Death Clock of CTD on Xbox known issue to you? Route litteraly makes CTD after ~60 min EVERYTIME. This problem persist allready for year...

I really appreciate you are trying to help Maik and the frustration these one off bugs that may never reoccur cause. However all we as players can do at best is try and recall the circumstances leading up to the occurrence.

In this case, to repeat what I posted in the locked thread.
I was brought to a stand with a zwangsbrem after failing to spot and acknowledge a Ne2 sign at the lineside.

After ensuring the brakes were released I made several attempts to regain power, overloading and resetting the MCB a couple of times. After about three or four attempts the loco started to shake, then overturned with the derailment game over message.

On my second attempt at the run, I actually got “zwanged” at a different location having missed a colour light vorsignal, but this time I was able to recover and restart the train without any issue.

Hope that helps but given I have experienced this on other routes and trains and on the PS5 version as well as PC, that’s why my suspicion is pointed at something in the core where a conflict in the code resolves itself by tipping the train on its side!

Rest assured the 140 is otherwise superb.

No, i'm not involved in the Mittenwaldbahn route. But that problem, as i know and as was told a lot now on streams and the forums, has to do with the memory leak issues. DTG is on solving this, i guess.

I will do some tests to maybe reproduce that. I know it was a problem before the new suspension settings because the bogies were drifting sideways away from the axles when the loco was on heavy braking amount and standing on a elevated curve.

Just a wild guess, but is it just possible that when your train came to a halt it was sitting on a switch, and that the game dispatcher then moved it? That would cause a derail

Apart from the long list of issues with the Class 20!?

I did the Shap scenarios and have been saving the WCMLS ones for when it gets fixed.

I don't thin it was, but while I can see that causing wheels to go off in different directions, it doesn't really explain the violet shaking when stationary or the toppling over.

I've never posted on this thread, but now I feel a great urge to express my opinion on this game now. TSW5 was an alright game performance wise and my entertainment from the game was in an okay state. With TSW6 however, I have basically given up with this game on my Series X. There are some glaring issues that I feel are no longer being prioritized to be fixed. Lag and blurry textures are just two of them. I used to have fun on the Morristown line, but announcements in the ALP-45 have stopped working and there seems to be no acknowledgement of it, the broken OHLE in Hoboken has also had no acknowledgement besides Brandon on the discord. i’m not sure of the state of other base routes as i don’t play them. I am done for this game for the time being as i haven’t touched TSW in about a month and a half. There is also glaring crashes that i’m experiencing no matter the route. I cannot remember the last full run i was able to complete.

Why does all the ScotRail stuff seem to get nerfed. As it is the only stable ScotRail train that has been developed for the game was the 314 and they don't even run anymore. Is it too much to ask for something good quality?

    380 has broken physics.
    158 has broken sounds.
385 has broken sounds and physics
    170 sounds need tweaked.

314 is fine just outdated now.

Performance Breakdown - at the end of a run: The Route listed is wrong at least 50% of the time. Latest one was on SEHS, using the 395 from that Route, and performance breakdown listed WCML Euston-Milton Keynes.

This is a huge niggle for me too. Sloppy coding and indifferent, lackadaisical response from DTG to fix it.

Maybe, but in a piece of rather expensive software, it should work properly, don’t you think?

Holy cow… my first venture into TSW and I thought it was pretty good.. On PStation4. Luckily the stuff Ive bought is all discounted.

I’ve had one train that would only go backwards (I gave up) and one that wouldn’t move at all until I’d faffed about for nearly 20 minutes resetting and resetting again and again.. and then it did move.

Anyway having read through some of this I’m really wondering if I’ve just dived head first into 6 inches of water? And I was thinking about lashing out on a ps5 for a better game.

As someone who listened to the forum back in the TSW2020 days and was put off purchasing it, only to find it was really quite enjoyable once I did buy it, I totally agree.

Yes the game has it's faults and DTG should absolutely be called out for a lot of them. But it still remains one of my most played games and one that I enjoy spending my increasingly small amounts of leisure time playing it.

Yes.. despite only having had the game a week, I’ve quite got into it.. some of the YT vids are pretty good.. and I watched quite a few before deciding to have a pop… I’ve spent the money now so I’ll persevere with it and if any of these issues manifest in my game.

I’m in a similar position to you, but with TSC. I’m trying to grow my collection on there and pick up a lot of the enhancement/mods along the way. Very expensive!

It’s a safe bet the PS5 will serve your experience better, as you’ve said it yourself that a lot of the PS4 dlc is non existent.
I hope you’re enjoying the game so far though. If you have any questions on content, like what on you’re deciding to buy, feel free to ask. Happy simming! :)

It does have issues and some bugs which don't get fixed. Most of my complaints would be around variety of content and relative lack of more historic representation and scope of some projects.

I uninstalled it early last year but when TSW6 was announced I reinstalled it and have played it more than ever.

It's best to get a rounded view.

It would be nice to have no errors at all, but this is such a minor nitpick that I don't even notice it.

Agreed, but when it escalates to lots and lots of minor (ongoing) nitpicks you can't really overlook the fact that after SIX attempts to get things right on consoles, it's still nowhere close to being the real deal...and as Vern quite correctly pointed out; the longer this goes on, the more expensive the game becomes.

Perhaps it's worth lowering the requirements and not expecting much from the console. Is the price high? What's cheap now? If you have extra money, you buy it. If not, you wait for a sale or pass by. I bought a Stuttgart Heilbron for $16. I didn't wait for a sale, which might have been a mistake, as I'm not entirely happy with everything, but what's $16 these days? Just grab a beer for the evening, and here's a route with dozens of hours of gameplay.

That’s cheap! Where from? I didn’t even realise this route was on sale yet? $16 is roughly £12 in my money, that’s insane.

Yes unlikely to get a discount before the Easter Steam sale and then only probably 20% as a newish item.

    Key seller, perhaps?

Regional prices on Steam. This isn't a discount; it's the base price from which discounts will apply during the sale.

You can transfer your Steam account (and consoles, too, I think; a friend of mine recently got himself an Indian PS Store account) to cheaper regions like Ukraine or India. May DTG forgive me for this information, although it was never a secret on SteamDB.

I’m still confused by your post as you said you got it for $16. So you used a cheaper region account or key seller as Vern mentioned? We are talking about the Stuttgart route that was released on 9/12/25.
That’s really cheap for dlc at those prices that’s why I’m curious as I would do the same (choose a steam region for cheaper prices).

Could cause trouble down the line if DTG or even Steam closed off access to those countries for some reason.

It may also get your Steam account blocked. I think they check your IP Address and billing address.

Yeah no, some of the most polished games you can play are on console, heck, the most polished UE4 game I've played is probably Pikmin 4, which is a Switch 1 game. That game is basically a bug free experience, and it doesn't even stutter like so many UE games do, on a Switch. Meanwhile I get all sorts of noticeable issues in this game well beyond performance, which bare in mind realistically is the only thing that consoles should have a impact on.

Like, there's so many bits of route on various routes that are just slopped together. the one that I always default to is this stupid crossing on Clinchfield that I posted photos of three-ish years ago.

This is just sloppy craftsmanship, this isn't because "consoles couldn't handle a better crossing", they could've just done a wide road to connect them. Case and point, the TSC version of that same crossing actually looks fine.

Nothing amazing, but at least it isn't a eye sore, and there's some nice little touches here like the power lines and the the car parks that are just weirdly absent from TSW. This is the sort of stuff people talk about when they say TSW's for the most part worse than TSC.

You say that, but there's lots of games that $16 will actually get you much more mileage. Many indie games release at or near that price point, you could also get a freshly released state expansion for ATS and even have spare cash leftover. And those easily have more replay value and quality craftsman shift than most TSW routes.

Also if we're going to talk specifically sales, well I don't see why we should even be comparing sale prices to non-sale stuff. DTG's pricing isn't anything special, I got the whole Doom series at the time (This was before the most recent one came out) for I believe $40, I only paid about $5 per game. I think even Eternal, the at the time newest one was only about $10 standalone. And frankly those set of games will give you much better variety for $40 than pretty much any selection of routes in TSW will get you.

Oh, and on the regional stuff, don't be stupid and knock it off, abusing regional pricing is against the TOS, and it is something they can ban people for.
