I’m content with there being no roadmap on the premise we see GWE or Preston-Crewe in the very very near future

It’s pathetic and unfounded nonsense. Sad that even people who are supposedly developers spread this kind of nonsense. As far as I’m concerned, this topic can be closed. It adds nothing.

 

The forum is not dead - there is no new content, a new one will probably appear only by the end of the month, there is just nothing to discuss)

 

There is however a point to be raise about how concerning it is that DTG's "golden goose" is getting sidelined by the company that makes it. Like them or not DTG are important for the health of this game, especially when even third parties need their help for testing and porting. People talk up the third party routes, but those are so few and far between, and also kind of ignores how iffy they're track record really is. Like we got to really bare in mind we're actually kind of 50/50 on third parties, half the releases are good work, half are mixed to flat out bad, in fact more than that if we consider consoles. That on top of the implications of them doing something more with UE5 beyond Metro Rivals really does give a air that we're in the final stage of this being a focus title for DTG. And I do fear that when that day comes this title is gonna be unable to live on in the way TSC has, I feel like it's propped up way more by Dovetail than TSC ever was.

 

Fair play to all who contributed and at least got this thread on to a second page!!

I am certainly not going to LOVE on anyone who has a different opinion from mine and good to hear everyone's takes both for and against.

 

Have to agree there and I wonder how people would feel about third party if JT did not exist?

Been a lot better recently though to be fair.

I would say that all third parties (and DTG as well obviously) have a massive blind spot to fixing bugs post release though and that is what winds me up more than all the other stuff, even the blurry textures on Xbox.

Because I can appreciate that the textures issue is pretty tricky to sort out and might not even be possible, but not fixing a broken switch or light on a loco that released months prior, is a massive middle finger for me.

 

The man you quote has worked within the inner circle of DTG. If anyone knows about the state of the company and the game, he does. I would be inclined to listen to him.

There certainly doesn’t seem much future for US content on the Roadmap, other than the one 3PD Railroader style branch line.

 

I have never been on Discord. Is it worth joining? Is it easy to pick up?
