Matt replied to a comment on facebook about layers and being unable to select the scotrail HST layer or something similar and Matt said it's for content that's not been released yet.

Can you link this? I haven’t seen anything about it, was only speculating on the 387 bc of it being removed from the TT

It has a placeholder layer on Fife Circle. But hasn't been officially confirmed.

Pretty sure Lucazone informally mentioned on here that they (Skyhook) were doing it.

I always thought it would be, considering it was a Skyhook timetable it was present in and Skyhook have an HST model. Not sure why everyone just instantly decided it was a Rivet thing. Guessing it is their next pack now all the known Cargo Lines are out.

In the lead up to Christmas in one of the streams they (I'm sure it was Alex) were saying it would be coming days, not weeks, into the new year. Literally everything they say has to be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

That's not what I saw in the streams. The distinct impression I got was soon in the New Year, January or February.

Sorry where is discussion going? Its comes out when the date is given via a release blog and the product is finished. So until then it can be next week until next year or longer.....

Just rewatched. I stand corrected. He did say one or two months. But that the GWE showcase video was days away. My mistake

Well considering it was touted before the launch of TSW5, I'd have thought it would be released for the iteration of the game it was announced for.

Like with all the recent announcements. If some of them will not be released in the TSW6 window, they shouldn't have announced them yet. It's not silly to expect a dlc within a year of its announcement.

It's just Vapourware, the only difference between this and Peak Forest 104 is that we get some screenshots every now and again to tidy us over.

In the most respectful way that is complete and utter rubbish...

This is definitely not vapourware considering it's already got it's own DLC in the pipeline after release. This is probably due to release in the next few weeks, after the 805 timetable. The 104 was never more than a 3D mockup that never made it past that stage. The GWE Remaster is a completely developed product and has nearly finished testing, so far from 'vapourware'.

I'd like to think it would be ready by the end of January, that would be my guess.

You do realise it is free and has been done in someone's spare time? Someone who won't be doing it again in the future, and frankly I can't blame him.

I realise it's been done as an extra project, yes. However, many many TSW users who don't frequent the forums won't.
I applaud Liam and anyone else who has helped for all the hard work they've put in and can't wait to try it.
Why do you perceive my complaint as an attack towards him? I am complaining about the communication between DTG and it's customers. DTG announced this 18 months ago or thereabouts. The complaint could be applied to the Tadami Line too, or any other project that has spanned multiple TSW iterations.

It'll always be due for release after this DLC and that DLC....then it'll be "hopefully out before Easter"....and then "hopefully before Summer"....then "Hopefully before TSW7" and then "Hopefully before Christmas."

That there is a DLC for it planned is irrelevant as that'll be released for English Riviera and other DLCs that feature the GWE HST.

There is the famous saying, "give someone enough rope and they'll hang themselves". And I can see that happening in this situation with those making invalid criticism...

There's nothing wrong with constructive feedback and criticism, but in this instance it is literally moaning for the sake of moaning and not offering anything constructive. Admittedly there seems to be an issue with DTG getting releases together in a set time recently, but thats irrelevant, this is coming out VERY soon, that is fact.

If it's ever released and Console get the same amount of services as PC and it's in a playable state. Yeah.

I assume if it turns out my criticisms were valid, you'll apologise to me.

If it was a paid DLC you'd probably be first in line to agree with me. But because it's "free" I can't be critical of it? Nah.

No I'd have the same point of view...

What your saying is twaddle and irrelevant. The DLC is not vapourware and will release in the coming weeks, there is no more and no less to it.

As I've said, the only real issue is DTG having a few releases off schedule. But it's nothing to get worked up about. I wouldn't have an issue if your alternate opinion was constructive or held relevance, but it's just a generic moan about the GWER turning into vapor, which is just nonsense, untrue and not adding anything of significance to the discussion.

You're allowed to be cynical and express that, but equally you're also allowed to be called out on your cynical comments by other forum members if they are demonstrably wrong, like in the case of your 'vapourware' comment.

    Good evening folks,

It's probably best for this back and forth to stop before it derails any further. Constructive discussion is one thing, but this is getting dangerously close to bickering.

    All the best,
    Jan

Gotta agree with Jan here, if this bickering continues someone on the team would have to close this thread, and we don’t want that right?

My white flag is up! I just felt it necessary to defend GWE-Rs against unfounded statements. But, I put my hands up for carrying the situation on and will leave it there...

I'm hoping in time that the FGW logos will make it on and that there is actually a GWR 387 in the pipeline. Although I think a more electrified network would be needed for an official 387, as I believe in the era GWE is set in, the route is only electrified as far as airport junction/Hayes & Harington?

Me too I should know when to shut up really.

I think the 387 shuttle was to Hayes and Harlington. It would make a nice out and back run for a few return trips and with a route with lots of traffic each trip would likely feel different.

So I hope it does appear at some point.

I am particularly looking forward to using the 165/165 in it's proper environment.

Most people that aren’t on the forums are significantly more level headed than anyone on this forum. People here have specific gripes and care much more about the specifics than those that aren’t here (not saying this is a bad thing, although a few of us that you’d think are children based on their posts are actually grown adults).

I've probably missed this but can someone let me know: do we get rail singing on AI trains as well as our own?

I've also got some less important questions about implementation that are just for my sake, though I suspect the wider community can't answer most of them:

How does Rail singing work in game (and real life if you feel like you want to explain that)? Is it just a moving audio source that moves with the train? Is the audio part of the track instead with a marker telling the rails when to start singing?

How fast does one have to go in a train to activate rail singing? Does it vary by train weight?

When can we expect rail singing to become a standard feature on all new routes? Or is it a GWE exclusive? Personally, the Pendolinos just don't sound right without the build-up of rail singing preceding the train. It brings a flutter to my heart that I can only describe as fear when they charge in at full speed.

On that note, if I drove the Northern Transpennine class 101 or another train on GWE, will I hear rail singing?
If I drive the GWR class 166 on London Commuter or another route, will I hear rail singing?

Do layers also have rail singing? Like the Heathrow 350 train that replaces the Elizabeth Line

Do layers also have AI horns? There might not actually be anywhere on the route where that's necessary but it might be nice to pass the AI Flying Scotsman right as it passes a whistle board.

Also I can't wait for the definitely confirmed (no it isn't) 387 pack. I wonder if it will come with a route or if it will be another Grump Dog Games-style loco pack full of multiple liveries.
