    Hello everyone,

When you hear the name "Polish Railway Simulator," you probably think of games like SimRail or F2P Train Driver 2. But most foreigners don't know that there's another Polish railway simulator... for free? It's called "MaSzyna: Railway Vehicle Simulator", and it's launching on Steam on January 16th. But you're probably asking me what kind of simulator it is?

Here's a brief history: The game was developed in 2001 (several years before the release of the Railworks/TS Classic you're probably familiar with, back when MSTS was popular) as a one-man project, but thanks to the Polish railway community, it soon evolved to such a degree that it can be called "Polish TS Classic."

The basic version of the simulator itself features 21 basic routes, over 100 different vehicles used by Polish railways, and over 150 scenarios to play through.

If you are interested, I highly recommend you check it out this production for free, because it is worth playing.

It already launched on 14th. Only the announcement was made some time ago with the event set to 16th, probably as an approximate date of the release.

Long time ago it was more a simulator of just EU07. I think I first played it when I was looking for EU07 loco for Trainz 2004 (as for EN57 back then I still needed to use even older "Mechanik EN57") - I think I only found some EU07 for Trainz only after release of 2006 edition. Along with Orbiter for spaceflight and FlightGear for airplanes, it brings me back memories of the times I was playing much more in freeware simulators than in commercial products.

I will say many reviewers do this sort of "multi tiered" review though, where they'd go HARD on something like the real low-res and 2-dimensional trees in TSW, but here they just shrug and say "eh.... it's fine" or "look at this amazing interior!"
Well... that same interior would be called "horrific" or "childlike" by TSW reviewers. Personally it's fine for me, but I've just noticed the jarring difference of standard people hold TSW to that they don't hold competitors to.

The official Mazyna page isn't the easiest site to navigate either for basic information.
For example a simple list of the locomotives and maps available.

Without going that far, I would say that it's not up to TSW average level.
Reminds me more of some TS content (although there are also extraordinary things in TS, as the AP Class 37 cab for example).

Yeah and I would even go so far as to say that criticisms (in general) are often unfair or at least exaggerating.

Very nice sim, physics and sounds are great! Loads of scenarios. The real life voices on the radio are a nice touch. Graphics are decent enough, giving excellent fps. Very detailed, took a while to get going but got there in the end. Definitely worth a download for anyone on the fence.

Yeah impressed with it, it has come a long way since the days when it was the EU07 sim, seems like ages ago now.
The sounds are excellent and watching your train snake across points with the carriages/wagons hissing and squealing is great, some sounds are better than Simrail and yeah some of the radio chatter is great.
I did have a prob on line 61(I think it was) where I got stopped at a red and it never changed so changed it to proceed myself via the map and ended up in front of a stopped freight that was obviously the problem train.
Some translations still need doing and some things could be better but overall very good for a freebie.
