Next_sp beta is available on Steam, where you can try out the new update. It only works in single player mode.
Key: Save game, Lua scripts, Major overhaul of vehicles suspension simulation, Changes to vegetation colours for different seasons, increased vegetation diversity etc.

I will check that out, once I finish my 4000km haul from Madrid to Ostersund in ETS2!

It’s looking good though an issue with the 80’s scenarios where the signals do not clear but this is known, and the save/load game slot has properly implemented.

Just did few initial runs of simrail on xbox... dtg won't see me playing tsw for looong time. The simrails aspect of simlation depth, sounds, passangers system and immersion is devastating for tsw... It is like lego technic - simrail and lego city/sometimes duplo - tsw.

Probably around 250km as ETS2 is around 1:18 scale.

However I have abandoned that for now and fired up SimRail to check the new beta. Hopefully this will finally make the single player game everything we wanted.

I think Vern there are still the odd issue with the save that I have been reading, the pendolino seems to be an issue when loading with the cabin being off, but this is a test version so hopefully will be fixed soon.

I really like the small details in Simrail. Like the bugs on the front window and you can clean with a working windscreen washer. The landscape is also more detailed and consistent. It's not perfect but every core update is bringing a better game instead of new features and leaving the old bug the same.

Yes I tried a save on one of the original scenarios and still got the error message about unable to save compiling routes (or similar). And although the new menu screens look as if I’m running the beta, seemed odd as when I activated that version under betas in Steam, it triggered a 75Gb download which certainly hadn’t completed after the wife finished with the PC at 1900. But when I went back on at 2100 there were no downloads outstanding and SimRail started straightaway. I’ll do some digging later after tea.

Now had two successful saves on one of the newer sections of route.

Only caveat on loading I lost some keyboard commands for a few minutes before they returned - H and J for the horn and NumPad 6 for returning train brake to the driving position. Reported on the official forum.

There has been another beta update, multiplayer(int9 server) now available and the 80's single player scenarios now work and some other tweeks, great stuff.

Great stuff. Currently running one of the freight scenarios on the slower route, but once I've finished that will head for the 80's. Hopefully we can now save the steam runs to get them done.

Steam store page for CD 163 Series DLC is up now:

A message where I got the link to it said "pre-order for Steam", but there isn't pre-order available yet, just the store page.

Save game seems to be holding up on the scenario I’m now running and the second time loading did not temporarily lose key functions as previously mentioned.

Edit: No joy. It also failed to load a fresh run I started in the latest version this evening.

The save seems to cancel loading when the train is moving when saved also the safety systems seems faulty after loading a save game.

Picked this up today on the PC and I'm 50-50 on the whole thing. I did the EN96 tutorial but I really don't like using the controller with the keyboard which is my preferred method. I miss the more traditional (British?) style of notches for throttle.

When using a keyboard it seems to take forever to go from hold power to hold brake, and by that time you've driven for half a kilometer!

I also didn't really feel some the corner radius's are realistic when taking them at 110kmh.

I also gave signalling a whirl but stopped when I realized the tutorial was utter garbage.

On the positive side, the audio is great, and the passengers seem to react far more believably than in TSW. It's not a regrettable purchase, but I'm not blown away like some of you seem to be.

I will try bringing the train to a stand before saving, see if that works. Looks like something crept in with the 16/01 update that can be remedied in the next one.

I tend to run with the safety systems off so haven’t encountered that particular bug.

No joy either loading a game saved after stopping the train. Got a similar pop up error message then dumped back to the menu.

Have posted a thread on the SimRail Bug forum but it's still waiting approval at present.

Little point doing anything else with the SP game until this is addressed.

Is it frowned upon to join a Polish server when you can't speak Polish? Seems like all the activity is in Polish 1, 2 or 3 with 50+ users and the International servers have like, 5 :D

I’ve never tried it. Guess you will be fine up until the point you need to communicate with another player, then you will find it a bit awkward!

I think all the driving modes are very detailed and well designed, and the whole locomotive is well worked out, right down to the smallest details.

Have to say that is looking gorgeous and the sounds pretty much put anything in TSW to shame. Going to be a Day One purchase for sure, though probably means switching back from the beta version to the current stable release to get the most out of it in MP.

Vern I think when it’s for sale on the 25th it comes with a big core game update.

I've sunk 30 hours into this the last few days and all I can say is, wow! It took me a while to get the gang of the Polish signalling system which seems complicated for the sake of it, and I didn't really like the dull aspect colours of the signals. It seems especially weird when the headlight and taillights are much brighter and vibrant.

I also don't like the HUD system very much. I like playing with the HUD off, apart from the top right information (which shows distance to the next timing point or station), just as a backup if I get a bit lost for whatever reason. However, it seems you can't have that on without also having the upcoming speed boards.

I love doing long runs (something TSW is crying out for), and completed a Warsaw to Katowice Pendolino before hoping straight in a Dragon for a 3 hour freight slog down to Krakow. I sat at my desk for nearly 7 hours with only minor toilet breaks in-between!

Not sure if the old Cargo DLC is worth picking up, though. I hate the look of cabs with a whopping great big steering wheel instead of levers. The new DLC looks fantastic and is a definite day 1 purchase.

Glad you are enjoy it Parishl, it certainly is enjoyable when you get used to it, yes I wish the HUD was a bit more flexible on what and where you can put various windows, I think in the next big update there will be more options for the HUD.
I don’t drive the pendolino that much as prefer the older stuff, also after a while the constant looping sound in the cab gets on my nerves, a bit like with the dragon(I think) with the dog barking sound lol.
I like the cargo dlc pack as it gives more variety on what you see and also the ET22 is good to drive.

There seems to be a performance problem. With a fresh game I get 60 fps and after a restart 30-40 fps. The problem is caused by some cache thats building up. There is a workaround but can cause loss in progress of scenarios.

    Oh what’s the workaround?

Just noticed we joined the forum nearly on the same date.

Also just noticed the workaround is posted on the Simrail forum.

So the main build has been updated to build 22/1/26 and save/load in single player seems to work again though when loading into the EN57 waiting to depart Katowice the guard said ready to depart early and the unit was tripped but it works at least.

Excellent. Keeping my fingers crossed my save game loads back in later on.

The only downside I noticed to the latest update was some quite bad stuttering in the Warsaw area which had previously gone away. Not sure how Unity works vs. Unreal but I guess that could be building shaders and caches etc. back up.

Ive played the Xbox version of this game. My brother bought it as a gift for me.The textures are so bad in stations and the trains themselves. It's as if they looked at the texture issues in TSW 6 and said "Hold my beer"

The single player is a let down in my view. There is no proper tutorial for the ED250 so ive had to watch YouTube videos to figure out how to get the train moving. Also at least on the run from Katowice to Warsaw, I haven’t seen any AI trains. The lack of a timetable mode is also a letdown. Subway Sim 2 has a timetable. Ive also have had numerous freezes and crashes when trying to go to the main menu.

Ive tried the multi-player which is OK but the servers have very few players that it feels dead.

I do like sounds of the trains. They clearly are going for a more sim focused experience. I also like that the routes are really long. The scenery and graphics is also really nice

The passengers feel more realistic to TSW but in the Xbox version, the modeling of passengers is atrocious. Not to mention that some stations feel to quiet and don't seem as busy as they should be

The Xbox version doesn't have a save feature available

All in all, I can’t recommend the game in it’s current state at least on Xbox. The game needs more work regarding textures. There needs to be a proper tutorial on the ED250 in game and some sort of timetable is something they should consider. Replaying the same scenarios can get rather tiresome after a while

If my brother hadn't gotten me this, I probably would've refunded this game

Well unfortunately the issue that had crept into the save game in the beta, failing to load the train in after loading the VD, seems to have crept into the release version. So in short, the save game is still fubared. Also saving scenarios on the original Warsaw to Katowice route still doesn’t work. Hoping they can sort it all out quickly.

Yes it is a shame that there are a few issues going on at the moment but I am hopeful for a fix soon(fingers crossed).

So... what do people think of the CD 163? Nice loco but the constant buzzing of the thyristor gets a bit annoying. Some of the Steam reviews suggest it is not as loud in real life as they implemented in the sim. Hopefully they will adjust the levels. In the meantime someone on the official forum suggested lowering the Effects setting in Sounds to 20%, though of course that will change sounds you might want to hear...

...yes tried that and it also mutes all the other traction sounds.

In reallife this loco is heavy... Its cruel to sit in it for hours.

I can imagine! Kudos to SimRail for the authentic reproduction but I don’t think they considered the effect it could have being listened to in the home entertainment environment. Nicely made loco though and well worth the asking price.

IF they would change the sound effect many people would cry that they messed up and bombard with negatives reviews….

I did freight scenario yesterday, about 2h. I really like doing the cold start in Simrail. When you turn on everything and the locomotvie starts to wake up :)
The sound effects are very nice, I was bit afraid that sound of thyristor drive would be too loud but on single player you can pause the Game and have short break ;)
Overall it is good DLC, the model looks detailed, Cab and engine room look super. Hope we will see more in near future but this time a Diesel :)
