Hello everyone, I would like to present to you my idea for the East Cost main Line route: London King's Cross - Peterborough. Route, Location, and Time: The route will take place in the early 1980s (1980-82), just before the retirement of the Class 55 "Deltic" locomotives, on the southern 76-mile (122 km) section of the East Coast Main Line. Furthermore, given that the route has been (partially) electrified to Hitchin (correct me if I'm wrong), it's possible to introduce EMU traffic there. Stations along the route: Electrified section: London King's Cross → Finsbury Park → Alexandra Palace → Potters Bar → Hatfield → Welwyn Garden City → Stevenage → Hitchin; Non-electrified section: Hitchin → Arlesey → Biggleswade → Sandy → St Neots → Huntingdon → Peterborough; Rolling stock: - BR Class 55 "Deltic" (+ Mk.2 passenger coaches) - a MUST HAVE locomotive known for running on the East Coast Main Line from King's Cross to Edinburgh, operating express trains on this route, even after the introduction of HSTs in the 1970s. It is powered by two Napier Deltic engines (from which it takes its name) and is capable of reaching speeds of 100 mph, sometimes even 125 mph; - Intercity 125 (BR Class 43 HST & Mk.3 coaches) - these trains entered service on the ECML in 1978 and were used alongside the slowly withdrawn "Deltic" coaches during this period. These will be able to operate at 125 mph between King's Cross and Peterborough; - BR Class 312 - another new train, a first-generation EMU, built on Mk.2 passenger coaches and belonging to the so-called "slam door" EMUs (this could be the first train of this type in the game). It would operate on the electrified section from King's Cross to Hitchin; "Layers" Rolling Stock (from other DLCs): - BR Class 101 - a first-generation DMU used on the King's Cross to Peterborough section for regional services; - BR Class 47 - a diesel locomotive used (at the time) for suburban and regional services with Mk.2 coaches; - BR Class 31 - a diesel locomotive used for both passenger and freight services; - BR Class 20 - a diesel locomotive used for both freight services and shunting on sidings; - BR Class 08 - a diesel shunting locomotive used on sidings such as Peterborough; - BR Class 40 - a diesel locomotive used to pull heavy freight trains and (occasionally) passenger trains; (I'm also open to your suggestions on this matter.) Why this particular route? Well, the early 1980s marked a transitional period on the ECML between the final years of service of the legendary Class 55 "Deltic" locomotives, which shared the same tracks with the then-futuristic InterCity 125 (HST) trains. The route offers a dramatic contrast in technology: from the tight, electrified London Junction, through the historic Gasworks Tunnels and the impressive Digswell Viaduct, to the fast, diesel-powered sprints through the fields of Cambridgeshire. The line showcases a fascinating blend of electric and diesel traction. The 25 kV AC catenary terminates in Hitchin, allowing players to experience both the wire-drawn experience of London's dense suburban development and the sheer power of diesel engines on the non-electrified section to Peterborough. Peterborough Junction itself, with its massive marshalling yard and mail sorting office, becomes the heart of the freight experience. That's my idea for an route for TSW6. (I'm also open for your suggestions for this route)
…make it a little earlier…maybe 1978ish. Yes Classes 55, 47/4, 46 & 40 on passengers, class 31/4 (white body stripe) on ECS (Hornsea), I.C. 125’s & class 313 for the EMU fans + Finsbury Pk MPD.
