How is avanti West Coast Class 805 gen 9 exclusive???? Idk this is just getting complicated how are basic routes and 'not even hard to make' locos gen 9 exclusive??

Nvm there all just useless, bugged dlc by a money-greedy company

I think it's because the routes that the unit runs on can't handle another unit on Gen 8. I'm not even sure if Birmingham - Crewe is available on Gen8, so even if it was available, there'd be no scenarios or timetable services for it - only Free Roam.

It all started with London Commuter back in 2021.

I understand that upgrading is no simple task, but if one does choose to acquire the flashy newest console then their collection will come with them and they might even catch one of those delicious sales to finally get access to the rest of TSW's offerings.

Sorry but Gen8 will be finished this year for this game. The amount of DLCs is very low and the problem is that Gen8 is over 10 years old so the support will be also stopt this spring by PS and MS. I think its more greedy to ask full price for a half addon in terms of content

DTG certainly has a few things to improve...

But this isn't one of them. Just because you are still on Gen8 it doesn't mean the world has to revolve around you. The technology you're using is next to obsolete, and can not handle the complexity of new routes and DLC. On Gen9 we still have blurring issues, so what makes you think that you should be an exception to that rule?

The technology you are using is from 2013, that's now 13 years old. DTG are not to blame for this. You've got to take accountability for yourself and recognise the software you are using is ancient, obsolete, and has moved on.

Although I will say I think DTG has enabled this attitude to some extent by keep developing limited DLC releases for PS4/XB1 and not giving people the initiative to jump to Gen9.

I take it you know that this isn't a DTG product, still I am sure you would not have complained if it had been available for gen8 consoles but didn't work properly or was unplayable.

Don't know why I'm typing this anyway as you obviously won't read it as you've gone and presumably taken your ball with you!

How easy is the 805 to make anyway? I might have a go if it's simple?

I think you should be grateful to DTG/third-party studios for still releasing some dlcs and the core/base routes of TSW for the 8th gen
I'm of the opinion that they should just drop the 8th gen and focus only on the 9th gen
in the end, we're talking about 13-year-old hardware, that's a long time, don't you think?

    anyway...

Yeah, it would be nice to go back to those days. Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Jungle Strike, Rock 'n' Roll Racing, and MK3 Ultimate with friends. The disappointment of a gamepad that suddenly died, and parents who don't want to buy a new one, This gamepad only lasted two weeks. Don't press the buttons so hard!

The funny thing is, as far as I'm aware the PS6 is only a year and half to two years away, so even Gen9 will be coming to the end of its practical life in the not to far future. So, to think the PS4 should still be catered for is absurd at this point.

Another day another Gen 8 thread...
One days is Gen 8 users complaining that they don't get stuff that can't work on them, another day is Gen 9 users complaining about Gen 8 holding tsw back...

Gen 8 is 13 years old. It’s unbelievable it’s still supported at all.

A quick peak at Sony’s website and you will see that PS4 support is being delisted across the board. Why would DTG or any company continue support for a dead piece of hardware. Sony is pushing PS5 only support going forward.
The PS6 is expected in 2028, let that sink in. Time to upgrade buddy :)

Playstation 4 support is coming to an end, 6 years into the ps5 era and PS6 on the horizon. Xbox one Will probably go the same way. The only way to keep up is either get a current gen 9 console or get a gaming pc. PC is probably the way to as it's easier to upgrade components as it's harder to upgrade a console unless you get a midlife upgrade

When it's actually dead, they won't. As long as enough people are still buying gen 8, it's worth developing for gen 8.

After many years of being disgruntled over Gen 8 on this forum, I recently upgraded to a Series S. In my opinion, it's better for them not to release it for Gen 8, than do what they did with various routes by releasing it, at the same price of every other player, but with much fewer features.

That’s the question though, are they?
Another skip on 8th gen tells me DTG priority has shifted to 9th Gen & PC now.

Many publishers have started to phase out 8th gen and shifted towards 9th gen only, it won’t be long until DTG fully commit to that too.

How can a publisher continue to support 8th gen if the platform is ceasing all support for it?

Maybe because you're on a 12 year old console that struggles to run anything TSW related? (Based on what I hear Gen 8 people saying).
It's either time to upgrade console or stop TSW.

    Hey folks,
So for each of the routes, whoever makes the routes decides if it's released for Gen 8. In this case, AABS usually doesn't release for Gen 8.

Somehow, I didn't realise that development studios could just decide to not publish on Gen 8 out of free will.

Here I was thinking each decision had to be carefully calculated with a full 55-page justification but you could just go, "ehh, nah"

    I love it!

Honestly I think by past history this might struggle to run on Gen 9 (textures etc) let alone Gen 8.

Smart choice by them, who wants to waste time downgrading their work, when more time could used to polish it.

Sure they are. As a for-profit business, that's the whole point. People were predicting TSW6 would drop 8th gen support...but it didn't. Enough people are still buying TSW and DLCs for 8th gen to make continuing their development worthwhile for DTG.

I'm sure DTG would be perfectly happy to drop those extra two builds and the headaches that come with downscaling to accommodate their limitations. And yet they haven't. That says it all.

1st part is obviously correct, second part who knows? Maybe won't be long, certainly will be eventually. Only DTG, who has the actual numbers, knows.

Well, ceasing support doesn't mean a dead platform that nobody else will develop for. And when exactly will support cease? PS3s haven't been sold since 2017, but an earlier plan for Sony to drop support and close the PS3 store was reversed. The PS3 OS even got an update just last year.

It barely runs on Gen 9 in fairness. Since the recent updates (!) my XBox Series X (with no other games installed and DLCs pared back to just UK routes) crashes/freezes/blurs without fail every time I run a route.

That’s an Xbox issue. On my PS5 Pro i only see blurry textures on Mildway Line, B2C and the new 805. I don’t have constant audio popping on every route or blurry textures, other than the routes I mentioned. Overall my PS5 Pro is a great experience with minimal problems.

Train Sim World barely runs on current gen consoles, let alone old gen.

Come on, they are 13 years old now and most other publishers are no longer releasing on them. For reference, that would be like trying to run GTA 5 on a PS2 and expecting it to work without issue.

Are we going to start crying when GTA 6 isn't on old gen as well?

Next gen will probably be out sometime by 2029 anyway.
