Today we got a big update but one question remains. What about the blurry textures on consoles? And still no layers on SBahn Frankfurt. How long will it take to get the biggest problem in this game solved?
I've just tried to load up a saved activity on Birmingham-Crewe. It crashed. Something that was apparently supposed to have been fixed with the update. PS5
They've already explained what causes the problem and that working towards a fix (which won't be quick) is one of their top priorities. They've obviously not got anything meaningful to say on the topic so we're just gonna get repeated messages until something substantial happens. It's just a waiting game now.
They've been saying the same thing (top priority but won't be quick) since the issue started appearing in TSW5. Zero percent chance it's fixed in TSW6 (it's almost Feb and TSW7 launches in Sept) and i'm very doubtful it will ever be fixed.
Thats the problem its a waitinggame for over a year now. And the longer it takes I also doubt it will ever get fixed. Its such a shame.
You already have a choice on XBox. You can switch to SimRail. I'm waiting for SimRail to be announced on ps5 and I'm not planning on buying TSW7 or any more TSW6 content. The blurry texture bug will probably drive away console customers.
XBOX Series X player here.... Since the update the game crashes in S-Bahn Frankfurt when I get close to the Hauptbahnhof und in Stuttgart the same due to memory. Never ever it crashed anywhere before the update.
Im probably going to get flamed or whatever its called, but this is my first and last time in the TSW game world.I spent a lot of money on dlc but the bigger issues, like crashes, blurry textures to name a few, since they have been around since previous versions just seem like they will never be fixed. I know some people say wait, its not a quick fix,DTG are working on it,etc, but how long has it gone on for and for how long will it go on for.I realise to a lot of people it probably looks like us console gamers are just whinging and whining but its not really on is it.And before the `...get a pc...` comments come in,thats not an option for me personally. All good here.
Trusted bloggers like British Ace certainly seem to be enjoying SimRail on Xbox though it looks as if not all the ancillary features are up and running. Coincidentally a massive upgrade for SimRail was also released yesterday and it puts what DTG just did for TSW to shame. DTG’s biggest problem, is that TSW has just got so huge it is now impossible for them to catch up with the tech and content debt. Yet they continue to pump out more and more content, regardless of whether in house or 3P. That comes with its own list of bugs and needed fixes which piles up inexorably on the EP’s desk. Just look in the Feedback and Troubleshooting forums for stuff that’s never been addressed. The broken G6 run on RRO which prevents Journey mode from being completed. The Class 380 brakes. The Class 158 sounds and incomplete Fife timetable. And that doesn’t even scratch the surface! And with the CD 163 coming out on Sunday, I think SimRail will be my go to for the next few weeks. What are DTG offering us? A recycled ATR 300 with the AABS Class 805, another bland modern train of which we already have two variants in the game.
I have 45 DLCs purchased for TSW. I always looked forward to each DLC. TSW introduced me to American and English railways. The current state of the game on consoles is very bad. I definitely won't buy a PC, I have over 300 games on the PSN network and I am very satisfied with playing on the console. Console owners don't whine about the console, but they point out the poor state of the game, and rightly so.
Change the suspension setting to normal and see what happens. I done this after seeing someone else post about they believing the updated suspension is the reason for blurry textures. And it worked for me. Mildmay was really bad for me but since the change it's perfect. And I just brought crewe and no blurry textures.
Just to add to the thread, we'll share more in the Feb Roadmap about our planned approach - TL;DR though, we've got 2 critical areas in TSW that we need to resolve, the Blurred Textures is one, and another is tied to Playstation limitations we've discovered (partly from the Stuttgart services) which we're hoping to work around. We've done lots of work on both, but we've also moved around teams to make sure we can deliver on these in a good timeframe. The thinking is we'd hopefully be covering both of these elements off towards the end of March. The roadmap will help explain more about what we've done so far, some examples, and progress/timelines ahead. It will also mention about how this might impact other updates and plans. Generally speaking, we're shifting alot of focus to get these areas sorted soon - they've been hanging around for far too long, and the frustration caused is beyond what we ever considered. I'll save the details for then, because I've got more time to talk with key internal groups too - but ultimately, whilst intentions are great, we can only really prove both of these areas by delivering meaningful updates, so I'm hoping we'll do alot of big talk in Feb, then provide you all with something tangible as we close off the next month or two. Thank you for being patient, we've come into the new year with alot of areas we want to prioritise, but we're making it clear that blurred textures needs to be addressed, and I hope we can turn those promises into patches soon.
Thanks for the update, its not just PS5 that has the issue with blurry textures, also Series X as well. Richard CZE I wasnt saying console users complain about consoles,i meant non-console users maybe see us as complaining about the issues. Why shouldnt we.Like you im happy with gaming on my consoles, the Tsw dlc i have is fun to play but the issues with the game take some of that away.
Hey DTG Alex thank you for the news. This is what we need an update from time to time on how you are working on this issue. Not leaving us unknown.
All good - It's fair to say the communications have been a little few and far between at least from myself directly the last month, I've been trying to make sure what we do say is as accurate and understanding as we can be, but also lots of prep for events coming up soon. Hopefully, more Q&As soon can help work in more elements of community
Layers on Frankfurt S-Bahn for console won't happen. It is technically unfeasible. No use waiting for that.
The LSL layers at Crewe (86, 87 and mark III stock) have vanished. I understand these were apparently causing issues at least on console. Have these been removed as part of the update? Yes I own all UK DLCs and all layers are on.. We just now have a big empty area near Crewe.
Not for me. Tried it and still this... If it really has worked for you then fair play, but I suspect a lot of these 'voodoo fixes' are a placebo.
I saw this too. The layer is still selectable (and selected) in the layer menu, but not visible. It is still visible in the route intro. I heard rumours this layer was detrimental to performance. Can only guess as to wether the removal was intentional or not PS5 btw
I also turned off the all timetable layers. That might help. And tbh I’m waiting for the blur to return
Turning off some of the layers actually helps. I only turned off the layers you can't (or hardly) see anyway (Chiltern line, class 700, Javelin). I retained the other layers as they really add to the experience.
I tried changing suspension and got blurry textures less than a mile north of BNS which never left all the way to Crewe. So definitely did nothing. Also Crewe now pretty much empty of static stock for me. I’ll have to try one of those services which previously brought the memory error crash on load up to see if it’s helped with that.
Is this on Gen 8, Series S, or Series X? Haven’t had too many issues on the Series X yet (although I know they exist), so just curious which system you’re seeing this on.
