Route West Coast Main Line: London Euston - Milton Keynes - Feedback

Hey there again, you've mentioned something I wasn’t aware of. Not great with technology ya see. But not sure what the add on loader is or how all that would work for the issue to be possible linked. However I would have to say things did go horribly wrong after the class 86 add on. (edit)
Id have blurry textures, constant small niggles like the wipers stopping or the desk going blurry when focusing in and out.

Other DLC packs I bought around that time was ECML Rail tour pack.
Edinburgh Express Freight pack. The military DLC packs I.

So if I was to choose which DLC caused the most upset for the game then it would have to be the class 86 add on pack.
It’s when I noticed things start going down hill with quality and performance all round. Ie WCML South route crashes on loading in.
As I say tho I wouldn’t have a clue how that could be linked or even technically related even.

It’s a real issue too because I have no confidence buying new DLCs even the Birmingham Crewe that I fancied yet looking at the problem with that route introduction then I’m staying away for now. I personally feel the more I add the worse performance gets.

A BIT OF A SHOCK!!!. WARNING.

Okay doing a run this morning using a class 66. The route loaded in but still having trouble with crashing passenger services.
The issue isn’t concerning that tho today.

I’ve placed a warning above due to the nature of the event. Anyone that drives trains or any vehicle for that matter who has been affected by real world events similar to the one I’m about to share. Ie Flashbacks.

So there I was chilling listening to the rain and just enjoying being behind the controls for once (I spend hours in LD so nice to get out and about), then I was faced with this at around 73mph. (Track speed for freight 75)


By the time I had reacted I’d already taken a few people out, I then proceeded to document the event for evidence to place here.

Why well I’ve played GTA so no stranger to a scene like this, yet GTA is just funny because it’s that type of game. Morally wrong but still it’s an 18 cert game so yes poo happens on GTA.
Not TSW tho, TSW is a simulator game and it does it very well to be fair. As I say I was relaxing as I always have when in control of a train or large vehicles as I have in the past.

Then suddenly be faced with a scenario where in my mind just for a split second I actually thought I’d hit real people.
I’ve drove most of my life in some very difficult places too, Scotland I’d be using many back roads out in the middle of no where and the fear of hitting any wild animals was always on my mind, yet still had my near misses. A9 was a close one. I won’t go into details but basically what happened this morning has shaken me up. I even feel all sickened like it’s a real event.
Again as a driver I think hitting a pedestrian is any person’s nightmare.

Same weather conditions, but just wasn’t expecting and it’s got to me a little.
I know it’s just a game but the mind works in strange ways sometimes but I know from my own experiences on the road and hearing stories of such real tragedy that can leave deep mental pain. Ie with jumpers as a prime example, yet the event this morning even tho it’s simulator game the emotions raced through.

Why am I going on about this so much, well because I started to think about users that have been in a real life situation as part of their job.
What would be the emotional and mental impact be or response to the scene above. My body’s reaction is a surprise yet have never been behind the controls of a class 66. Luton Van yes but not a locomotive. What about those who do professionally, it’s those people that am I thinking about here.

So if anyone that monitors these feedback threads look into the matter please.
I can provide more route information if needed but I think it would be a wise move to fix not only for DTG sake for a situation to be happening in the game, but for the reason I’ve already stated when it comes to any possible negative effects to those players sensitive to highly emotional situations caused by any real life traumatic event.

Improved passenger behaviour this year apparently!!

 

Maybe they’re lost and belong in the apocalyptic world of MR New York.

To be fair to DTG I’ve seen a massive improvement from TSW2020 days.
But wasn’t expecting a scene out of the Death Race 2000 movie or should I say Escape from New York films.

Thought I'd throw a couple more bits in seen as I've played the route a little more.

Positives
Some of the scenery is done well with some clutter in places. The stations in particular look really nice to me.

377/2 - Apart from the sound issues with the horn I like the 377. It's just better to drive than the 350. I travelled on 377s all the time and it feels familiar enough to me. I like the 15 minute runs with it too not too long, remind me of the 375 runs on BML which were a nice way to spend 20mins or so.

Improvements
350 - The PBC handle is too sensitive which combined with the overpowered brakes just feels really odd to me. Head out view still has inside cab sounds unless you move the camera out fractionally.

Scenery inconsistent- Some areas of scenery feel a bit too clean and tidy. Especially the ballast and track areas, needs more plants/clutter? But other areas look really nice.

377/2 sounds - possibly an Xbox issue? - Horn sound cuts off/breaks sometimes like other electrostars (apart from the ECW 377)

Overall can't complain for the sale price though and I'm still playing it on and off

 

The 350/1 brake grab when coming to a stop is so annoying.

I understand the feature is fairly accurate, but that maybe it should kick in more like it does on the 710 than the way it was implemented here, which makes a smooth stop impossible.

 

Do we know how they couple and do other slow speed maneuvers with that?

 

With great difficulty it seems!!

In game though, I have a feeling they got the speed cut off wrong for the 350. It seems to kick in below 3mph (and in any handle setting) which is way too fast and causes the juddering stop.

On the 710, it is 1mph and below and only when you are not in BO or a full brake setting, which makes it much easier to manage and also makes more sense.

 

More of a comment for the future but it would be nice If the WCML south got the AABS custom OHLE for the WCML southern section as well as the newer track used form B2C

 

I've had a thought come to me, with regards this line,

You state you intend to attach all sections, but isn't parts in old times & parts in modern.

Or is just the section between London Euston to Crewe / Crewe to Carlisle been attached.

So even a long trip on the limited route between Euston & Blackpool is out of question, plus Liverpool Lime Street. Noting both routes are available but old sections.

Just a simple question. Is there any hope on getting passengers at Euston station? No NPC to be seen and empty platforms just kill the mood.

 

Almost certainly not.

Not in the short term anyway.

NPCs are basically a disaster on this game.

And the fact that the London terminus that should be bustling, have all the atmosphere of a morgue but with less people, whilst some of the small stations out in the country are hives of activity, is just weird.

 

How long will it take for passengers to arrive at Euston Station after the tickets go on sale?

 

Yeah, too bad. One of the best routes in the game. With some of the busiest timetables yet the stations in such a state. Didn't it use to have passengers? I think I have seen NPCs atleast in TSW5 era but after a revisit few weeks ago it was all gone.

 

I would like to echo the above comments regarding the lack of passengers at Euston.

It is ridiculous, for one UK's busiest stations to be devoid of passengers. Even with the fauly NPC's I would rather see them than not!

I just had a ride in as a passenger and the passengers just stayed on the train.

 

Is this a core issue or a specific platform issue. I play on PC. Is the no passenger problem same on all platforms?

 

I do not know about other platforms, but on pc and went into Euston today twice and it was dead. Passengers on my trains just sat there and did not move and when I moved around the platforms, saw hardly any passengers.

 

Xbox
Route is starting to crash again on the approach to London Euston with the new 805 timetable stating “out of video memory”. The same issue faced when the route first launched.
Used to have a Series S but now playing on a Series X.

 

Driving the new WCMLS timetable, there is a massive issue at Harrow and Wealdstone which means as soon as things run late it gets dogknotted.

On my Down DC run, I was stopped to the south of H&W. On investigation an Up DC service which should have departed 20 minutes previously was still stood in the Up platform. In the meantime a set of 1972 stock was in the turn back siding, but with a following Bakerloo turn back also trying to get in. I deleted the DC service and the 1972 on the turn back blocks. This allowed the second 1972 to get in clear, however another Bakerloo service ahead of me terminated and was immediately cleared to enter the siding despite it being occupied. So there is something going on with the signalling logic, i.e. as in being majorly wrong as the shunt signal on the Down DC platform should not be clearing if the siding is occupied.

Needs Rivet/DTG to sort this out, as while the workaround is to keep deleting trains to resolve the situation, the signalling needs sorting.

 

TSW6, PS5, WCML, Free roam, on foot, Milton Keynes, platform 3, passenger stuck in platform. Very disturbing.

 

I’ve done a number of runs in both directions Eus-Mk-Eus

Despite having all 15 layers enabled and having bought the 805, The amount of traffic seems very low on what I thought would be a busy line.

EG.. 1U22.. noted 6 services.. excl Bakerloo…. 1Y25 noted 6 services ecl Bakerloo. Both 350 services.

With such large timetables how come or is this normal?

The 805 is only listing 27 services all day and I’ve done 5 of these.. is this correct?

 

Not sure on the 350’s but the 805 isn’t a common unit to see. There are less than 15 that exist and I think less than half of them are actually in service. The ones that are in service are almost entirely used for services to Chester & Holyhead, of which there aren’t tons of services.

AABS have confirmed over on discord that they've included for the 807 and 350/4 layering on their release hence at the current time it will show slightly less than this and in regards to freight some of these were pulled prior to release due to xbox compatibility. Once they have their testing complete the aim is to add more of these back in...

Is there any update on the auto brake logic for the 350/1.
I went back to to play this route after a 6 month stint and to find the 350/1 still auto braking from 3mph was disappointing as I was very much hoping it would be addressed by now.

It's not a nice train to drive at all when you drive defensively.

 

I doubt that is ever getting looked at.

It is technically 'correct' anyway, but I feel sure that the speed it applies at is just too high and should be more like 1mph.

 

Yeah it's should be somewhere between 1.5 and 1mph before it engages.
I thought I read somewhere that this is benging corrected on the /2/3 and 4s for another route but no word on the dash 1s.

The logic is there, I would imagine it is a matter of changing a parameter value?. Hopefully with no other knock on effects.

Absolutely.
Had a drive recently on ECW with an Electrostar, and it was sooo confortable to drive in comparison... chalk and cheese.

 

My feedback for the Class 805 Evero timetable (also will post in the dedicated 805 feedback thread too as some overlap):

- On Series X, you can't play any Class 805 services which depart from Euston as it results in a video memory error on the loading screen if you select any service from the menu; also doesn't work either by spawning on foot too - this is completely unacceptable and should be fixed immediately as people deserve so much better than this, especially when we paid for something to work as expected. However, some things of note too. Firstly, the 805 works fine if going from Milton Keynes back to Euston. Secondly, playing any other service with other trains within the Evero timetable also works without issue.

- In the 'Evero timetable', London Overground Class 378s (both 4- and 5-car variants) as well as the Class 710/3 are not included at all (which is highly disappointing) i.e. no playable or AI services unlike the base WCML South and Intermodal timetables. For context, the 805 WCML South provides only the Class 710/2 for all LO services. This is exactly why I hate having multiple timetables for the same route when some trains are included and some missing - it should ideally be all one timetable for the best experience.

 

I was actually considering buying the 805 but after hearing this I'm glad I didn't. I thought the whole point of the 805 was to bring a timetable from being a mod on PC to consoles, but if it can't be played on console without crashing/blurry textures then I really don't understand the point in this DLC. AABS really haven't had a good track record when it comes to releases for consoles, and it's a shame too because the DLCs do look really good. I would've been looking forward to the WCML Trent Valley but I'm assuming it wont run on console or will be a blurry mess. Also AABS why remove the 378 and 710/3 from the timetable? They added nice variety and allowed the use of the 378 on another route (even though it is very buggy on the WCML).

 

Surely you could get your money back? If you bought a car but it only drove in reverse…..

 

Yes, people have a decent chance of getting a refund on Xbox if they are within the window and explain the issues.

 

It's been a few weeks since I bought it, but only just got around to playing. However, I'm hoping it does have these issues fixed eventually anyway though...

 

Anyone else think the overground when you play it is really blurry more so then usual.

 

Speaking of which, just to say, I finally took the plunge and bought the Mildmay route to get the Class 378 on the Overground... my God, it's so much more pleasant to drive (like all Electrostars vs 350 and 710 btw), you can really feel the traction and braking notches, it's not like there are intermediate ones, and as a result, the driving is much smoother.

 

If you have the 805 timetable its not on that timetable.

 

Yes unfortunately, but I console myself by thinking that you don't see many 805s around anyway.
Plus the 378 is on the nuclear and intermodal timetables, so you still have most of the layers.

 

Was there any reason it didn't layer into that timetable.

 

I recall someone here saying the 378s no longer run on the Watford DC Line.
It's a shame because it added variety and they are very pleasant to drive (despite that narrow front window).

 

Good route but there is missing OHLE at WT 3159 Signal Fast line Berkhamsted to Northchurch Tunnel

 

Shouldn't the signal's feather be illuminated, considering I'm routed to the 30mph junction to the right?

I've had several attempts at running a timetable on the overground line and every attempt in the Class 710 has resulted in a red signal that never changes somewhere along the route.

I'm on PC. Has anyone else experienced this?

585 days and counting since this route came out and whilst i’ve driven it substantially more than any other tsw route, it’s still full of small issues

• passengers on the track at harrow and wealdstone
• audio popping on the 390
• rain falling inside the corner of the windscreen on the 390
• no passengers at euston
• blurry textures, obviously
• the default timetable still doesn’t feel full
• crashing
• the default 350 hasn’t been updated to the same standard as the AABS version

 

It’s quite a good route , but it could be great if they could just fix some of these issues . No passengers at Euston, is particularly annoying!

 

At Leighton buzzard still this bug not fixed

The object in the photo is disgusting.

- Euston is still empty of passengers.

- Milton Keynes station gives me the creeps with passengers trapped on the platform.

- Are there 12-car 350 series trains?
