After finishing the 8 timetables and 80k AP Tier 2 now showing complete even though the three conductor runs I did aren’t registered. So back to ETS2 where I have 3 days left to finish Winter Wonderland event and slightly longer for Nordic Horizons. Also need to get from L13 to L16 to unlock the new Scania Supers, not sure why SCS put them behind a level cap one thing I guess we can be grateful DTG don’t generally do that with their content.
welp its tomorrow a new month which means new challenges from DTG themselves i wonder what they will add this time
It would be nice if they included something challenging again. Besides December, when there were four goals, the regular monthly ones can be done in one evening.
Fully agree. The last few months have been fairly boring, the main challenge being whether the system actually recognises what you have done towards the objectives. Just hope it’s nothing too much in the way of silly like 20 conductor runs or 30 collectibles! As you say, the meat and bones of Tier 2 should be a significantly challenging mileage or AP target. At a minimum 500 miles/800 km or 250k AP (given some commuter runs give 15+k AP for one 45 minute trip (Bakerloo).
Or silly tasks: collect a collectible, create a train and ride it for X kilometers. At least the conductors are easily completed through cheating by saving and reloading. But the collectibles... Ideally, combine both and increase the range to 1000 miles/1600 km. In any case, the goals should be more challenging. I'm not that interested in posters and other rewards, but playing and completing the challenge is somehow more interesting.
If they keep using posters for rewards the stations are gonna start to look to over stuffed with posters. And it will look horrible
I honestly haven't seen many different posters at the stations. One or two at most. And it’s hard to come up with another reward without any problems.
I hardly have time to play next week, so that would raise the bar considerably for the rest of (the shortest) month
Yes, there are guides, and the God mod allows for fast travel. But for me, that's the most boring part, even worse than riding as a conductor.
In the fifth game, I was working on Steam achievements. There aren't any now, so I've given up on that. But 30 collectibles is probably a bit much.
Drive 500 km in Simrail with the CD 163, without isolating the leading traction motors to eliminate the buzzing thyristor noise. (Only joking!).
Is there some hidden requirements for the Living for the Weekend Tier 1 mastery that I don't know about? So far, doing anything in a Free Roam session and then quitting doesn't register.
looks like the first 2 challenges are complete 5 timetables and do smt ramdom in freeroam no idea how the freeroam thing works
Annddd the challenge with the freeroam stuff is already bugged bc its not progressing whatsoever and the 5 timetables thing does work but even then it wont give me access to the second stage meaning this challenge is fully bugged classic move as always
Tier 1 Working 9 to 5 - Complete 5 timetables Living for the Weekend - Play a Free Roam session and do whatever you want - Why not take a screenshot, do some Trainspotting, or hunt some collectibles in a new location! Tier 2 Groundhog Day - Complete 5 scenarios February Ferry - Complete 8 timetables Live, Drive, Repeat - Drive 300 miles / 482km
Went into Free Roam on Leipzig - Dresden and picked up some collectibles - didn't track. Completed an ECS timetable service with the 805 - didn't track.
How the hell do you complete this free roam one. I spent 30mins collecting things took two photos and watch some trains and still registered.
just keep doing the next tasks until you are sure you have done all of tier 1 things it might just be an tracking view bug again i have seen that every month on the monthly challenges
The Groundhog Day sounds like a knowing nod that many of us will save scum the Sherman Hill or SoS “Do what you want in the yard” scenario to get them done in five minutes flat. Once again the mileage objective is a bit meek. If they want to keep us playing the game, then as discussed previously should be 500 or preferably 1000 miles.
I'm definitely in agreement that the monthly challenges are on the easy side. I think they should test the waters with something more challenging like 3,000 miles in one month. With TSW receiving a yearly release, they could make a single yearly mastery with an unlockable poster themed around that game's core routes.
Actually that is a good idea, some sort of annual or even quarterly mastery with a significant challenge. Assuming it doesn’t fubar, this month will probably take less than a week to complete.
I won’t be making a start until later on (after tea). I also have a SP run to finish up in SimRail (now the save game seems to be working) and a truck delivery in ETS2 to finish before 1.58 drops and kicks my truck back to the garage.
I've had a good half an hour in free roam this morning. Picked up some collectibles and watched some trains at Milton Keynes, took a cracking screenshot of an Evero too. Mastery hasn't budged so far despite doing what was mentioned.
I've done exactly the same and nothing. I dont wanna play anymore until it unlocks cause the second part as a nice bit of driving.
DTG Alex Morning can you please explain what we need to do in the free roam part. Because its not unlocking for a few or us not counting in the background either thanks.
Completed 7 timetables and 3 roams and I have a grand total of 1 timetable being recognised. Gotta love this mastery stuff!
Yes we had this before when the instructions were a bit garbled. It was do free roam and pick up one collectible *only*. However that was expressed poorly, we were grabbing two or three for good measure and that failed the objective. IMHO free roam should not be a part of Mastery anyway. It’s kind of abstract, you don’t get any AP or able to run to a timetable etc.
Timetables are tracking for me, but the free roam isn't. Have tried a couple of free roams and an on foot in timetable mode, just to make sure. Slightly confused by the suggestion in the Mastery text to "do some Trainspotting" (why the capital T, by the way?), since by definition free roam is a sandbox with no trains.
Well the timetable runs completed just fine, (although the counter didn't update till the third one). Not attempted the free roam challenge yet since no-one is exactly sure what it specifically wants you to do
I'll have the timetable one done this afternoon. As for the free roam one, just a "Find 20 collectibles" would've sufficed rather than a description that basically says "Do what you want!" Instead of free roam objectives, I'd like to see objectives aimed at specific rolling stock, "Drive 1,000 miles in the Pendolino", "Complete 50 coupling tasks with the Class 08" or even gameplay things like "Acknowledge 1,000 AWS alarms"
At least we know that this thread is read by DTG and the free roam issue will surely promptly be fixed, like last time
I'll reserve the scenario target for the ones I still have to play on GWE:R (diesel legends, cargo line), assuming it drops well before the end of this month of course
