Gwe Remaster: Appreciation And Discussion Thread

When this is released tomorrow,is it with an update? Any patch notes available or is it too soon.Hoping for some fixes to blurry textures.

 

I mainly use TSW to ride trains as I can’t see well enough to drive. Is there any means of me riding the 387s as a passenger or would this have to wait for the update

 

Anyone? Apart from a TTTE youtube vid i cant find any info.

I know when the remaster is released,i didnt know if there was an update with it aswell,hence the question.I was looking for patch notes but i suppose we will see tomorrow.

This is a reminder for players on PC - You might have installed mods that are likely incompatible with the remaster update. Make changes now to avoid disappointment. (updated with file names and according to feedback)
For example:

• Class 166 TOD4 patch: may no longer be needed. (!Laika-GWRClass166-Patches.pak)
• Modified Time of Day System for UK Routes: Will cause the route to stay in TOD3, just like when CCL remaster was released. Sign of this issue is usually extremely bright signals. (Aran-GWE-Time-of-Day-Update-v1.0.pak)
• Lighting & Visual Quality Enhancement: Route will not look good as intended. (Edit the per route config and override with another TOD4 route config)

Blurry texture fix definitely won’t be in this release. I thought they were still in the testing phase for the inevitable fix.

 

First they will do a test with an update for SEH and thats not a global fix to the core.

 

The actual fix will be a core feature for TSW7. Shocking that it's taking a team the size of DTG this long to fix a memory leak.

 

Might be an unpopular one but shame it wasn't a GWE remaster set in early 2019, that way the entire line would have been electrified and you still get the HST runs....Im still going to enjoy it as it looks great from the pre-release vids and the TT is plentiful but its going to be a slight bugbear for me personally.

With regards to the lighting and visual quality mod, I've had to remove it to get the correct lighting. Wish I had done this earlier as if you watch my videos posted yesterday the colours are all washed out, however on yesterday's stream, recorded after I had removed the modified ini, the route looked gorgeous.

 

You wouldn't happen to know the name of the files for the Class 166 mod and Modified Time of day - I've done searches for them but not returning anything obvious. I remember I deffo downloaded the 166 mod but I can only find a sound mod in my files

 

Look for !Laika-GWRClass166-Patches.pak

So with this impending upgrade, Does this mean that the 166 layered into BML is being updated?

 

yes because the remastered Turbo replaces the old one

 

wonder if that might affect the modded BML TT.. guess we'll find out now!

I think as it’s an update rather than a new release that it could change the release timings on Steam today, which is welcome.

Fired it up on PS5 just to do a spot of train spotting from the new Ealing Broadway, everything looks so good and seems rather busy.

Have to go to work soon so may have to be on steam on the laptop during the day for a play.

 

DTG Liam really love that you can spawn in the 387 either AirPort Express or GWR unbranded but I cant get it to set a path from either Reading or Paddington and tried at different times of the day. Is this a fault or impossible due to the timetable?

 

Xbox series X all layers enabled and the blurry textures are back

 

Does the Series S has a reduced timetable? I have no 350 and also not both the underground trains.

 

Did you do any fixes for the diesel legends journey mode as service 5x03 still spawns stuck under coach’s making the journey mode impossible to complete

Just to note - still getting false AWS alerts for speed restrictions at diverging junctions which do not apply for the straight ahead path.

 

I don't know if this has been said as well, but there's also the mod "tmSpikeesCabCamFixesTSW5.pak" (I forgot the name of the mod on TS Community) which gives a strange texture on the 165/166 + No PIS in your train

 

Unfortunately with all the hype thats going on with the remaster i suspect that will take a back seat for the time being.Hopefully maybe in a later update..

 

Really enjoying the GWE Remaster has brought back so many wonderful memories of this my favorite route now replaying with a big smile as the lighting is simply wonderful for early and evening runs.

Have to agree - I've just done a couple of runs (165 and HST) and the difference between this and the original route is like night and day. This has completely revitalised the route - the scenery and lighting are superb, the timetable brings the whole route to life, and adding suspension to the HST and 166 makes them so much more fun to drive. I'm just getting started, but it feels like this route has been well and truly rescued.

Remastering this old route gives me hope that others may receive the same treatment - my biggest gripe with TSW(*) has been the gradual death of routes that I used to love - I don't (can't) really play NTP or TVL these days because I've got so used to suspension and great scenery. Actually, arriving into Paddington just now and hearing the announcements also brought a smile to my face - it's amazing how quickly I've got to expect these (even if they're amusingly wrong, like "the train at platform 9 is for London Paddington only. Please board the train as it is about to leave" etc ), and how much they also bring to the game.

Can anyone confirm you can now run the HST’s with cab doors ajar, to admit the thrash?

The problem with this remaster is that it shows we need a lot more remasters. After playing a service on GWE I can't wait for the SKA remaster. More focus on remasters, less new routes please.

Not a criticism as I know a lot of people have been waiting for this (and credit to the developers too). Personally I’m not bothered about GWE, is there a way of stopping the update so I don’t clog up memory with a route I don’t use?
