Not speaking for everyone, but some people really need to show some appreciation to Liam and the contributors who helped make this remaster happen.
Some people who complain actually contribute to the positives from the remaster, then there people who fiat out just list all the negatives (core issues), which are out of Liam’s and other 3PD’s control.

Very nice indeed, took an HST down to Reading and then on the cushions back to Paddington. Well done all involved, top marks.

Jinxed myself - did a 350 Heathrow Express service and the game was struggling with blurry textures which didn’t exist during the other five services I did.

Nobody will convince me that the 350 isn’t an issue in this game - it plagues every route it’s on with serious issues.

Routes it’s not on (Riveria for example) I’ve personally never had the blurry texture issue.

I'm on Series S and the 350, 484 and 72 Stock (which seems to layer in from WCML(S), as I don't have the Bakerloo Line on Xbox) all appear for me.

That's probably just coincidence. I was able to get rid of my texture issues by reducing it to GWE Content (66, 165/166, HST) + 350 + 158 + 1972TS

Getting rid of things like the Southern layer can help the problem with minimal loss to the gameplay.

On the flipside - I have texture issues on Cathcart where I have the 350 disabled; and the blurring starts the moment that a 390 spawns in.

I am in awe with the remaster. Really enjoyed playing it, thank you Liam!!

The only thing that threw me off a bit was hearing the on board announcements whilst driving the HST. Easily resolved by turning off the announcement, but it would be nice to have an option to between on and off, where you can hear the announcement if on a train like the 387, 165, ect. but if you are in a loco like the HST you won't hear any.

It's a very small issue that doesn't detract from the main gameplay, so I give it a 10/10!!!!

I can't remember the exact name - but there's a setting in the options along the lines "Cab Announcements" - turn this off and you won't hear them in the HST.

As someone who has this problem on XBox (as mentioned above), again I say this thread isn’t the place to remind DTG of this though. Everyone on these forums complains about using Discord, but by putting posts like this in a thread dedicated to talking about GWE Remaster, it’s not helping the cause and is just getting lost in a thread about some great work done by Liam.

If we can’t keep our threads targeted to the actual purpose of the title, we might as well move onto Discord because it’s much easier to search than trying to decipher where these types of comments are in any of the forum threads. Plus putting it in here gives DTG moderators the excuse to say they don’t see it because it’s hidden in a completely different thread (not that they would but just saying it’s easier to make that excuse).

I’m done talking about this here as I’d rather use the 20 other threads talking about it so I can read and ask questions about things specifically related to GWE Remaster here. So let’s keep it targeted to that and air our grievances about them in the other threads so we don’t give any excuse for DTG to say that they haven’t seen anyone asking for updates about the issue.

Its likely spikees cab cam mod - I tracked that as the cause for me.

I need to try this on my Series X. On the S it’s still nice, but a lot of stuttering in the main areas like Paddington. Which to be clear is not a route issue, more of a power issue of the Series S. Have plenty of problems like this on it but not on my Series X where they are smooth and crisp. Looking forward to trying it on there so I can truly appreciate it!

Blown away by this remaster. Really a fantastic job!

Love the route, been looking forward to this remaster quite a bit.

Only issue I've come across is 5x03 Coach Preparation for the Diesel Legends of the Great Western. The train details after just a few seconds of starting.

Absolutely fantastic so far. I'm not sure if this right place for feedback, but the split distant on the up slow just before Heathrow Junction seems to have unnecessary AWS activation when clear.

Nice job, Liam and colleagues - looks and runs great on my XBOX Series X when driving, although I'm getting stuck on the scenery in Guard Mode and can't move around the train very easily.

Seeing lots of trains coming the other way which is nice!

It really does look amazing, great job. Been holding off playing the classic version for a couple of years now knowing the updated version was coming, and loading in at Paddington the updated lighting and overall look and feel was striking! Route so alive as well, really is spectacular jumping back in after all this time!
No blurring on ps5 pro so far for me; only “issue” I think I’ve noticed is the 166 having engine clipping at top speed. Not sure if this was a thing before, but regardless very impressed and agree with overall sentiment that these remasters really do breathe new life into older routes.

also hoping we get a 387 paid dlc down the line, but presumably on that basis, we’d want the OHLE extended to Reading, otherwise would be a bit limiting to only have runs down to Hayes and Harlington (thinking out loud!)

No electrification was only to Airport Junction back then.. Electrification to reading was completed and operational early 2018..

With this being a 2017 remaster/ TT thats why we dont have it all the way, scenery just showing the work being carried at the time

Finally got a chance to mess around with this on my Series X, it feels so much more alive than the original! As expected much smoother than on my Series S. I haven’t purchased all of the DLC attached with the layers so no blurry textures just yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing if at its full potential.

This remaster is absolutely amazing! I can't seem to pull myself away from it - It also improves the Riviera experience now that all the stock is TOD4 supported.

Speaking of Riviera, is there a possibility of having the upgraded ballast textures of GWE:R added to Riviera in a future patch? I feel they'd improve the visuals of that route and give a feel continuity between the two GWR routes :)

Can I ask how you get the GWR class 387 shown in the first page photos? I have the London Brighton, attached is my only DLC showing up , PS5

I'm quite surprised that there isn't any overhead wires to reading? Unless my game hasn't actually updated?

That's correct (see above). The electrification wasn't completed until 2018. When that happened, the cucumbers replaced the HSTs, which would no longer be seen here.

The 387 isn't in the timetable mode. You have to spawn them in manually

A great remaster, been so long since I've been on GWE, been great to be back and absolutely loving the rail singing, hopefully this will be in every route going forward and hopefully backdated to older routes.

I have noticed a couple of scenery bugs, will upload photo's later. (PC)

Coming out of Paddington, there were coaches and cars hanging off the bridge, infact, I can't remember if there was a bridge and they were just floating in mid air, will check on a re-run.
Edit: I just noticed somebody has posted a pic of this in a thread called London Transport are Brutal

The OHLE at Reading is a terrible mess, I don't remember it being that bad in the original, there were lots of just hanging OHLE arms without any gantries, I'm not talking one or two, there were lots, it looked awful.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this, again will post pics when I get a chance

That's intentional. The route's set during the electrification (believe it first released before electric trains started running to Reading)

The remaster is set in 2017 so thats what it looked like in 2017..

this TT is set during the GWML Electrification program with the line not being electrified to Reading until early 2018..

If you want to compare trainsimulatordriver did a comparison vid of new v old,

I had a couple of very small texture issues on Series S last night, but I've had a lot worse on other routes. I did the Railtour ECS movement with the Class 47 to Paddington, which was fun and started the Flying Scotsman Railtour that it formed, the route really feels alive, as I was departing I had trains all around me leaving and arriving.

I'll also pass my thanks onto Liam for the excellent job he's done with this remaster (I also loved the job he did with WSR), it certainly has been worth the extra wait.

It was kind of a strange decision on the OG route, to depict west of Stockley Jn in various states of pre electrification. A snapshot of the route on the day the reference cab rides were made. Would have made more sense to leave that section completely unelectrified or go ahead and do the whole thing postulating how the completed work would appear.

Answered in that 'London Transport are Brutal' thread. Are you using mods on PC? Looking at what's posted in that thread there's a bit more extra scenery compared to what's in the base route.

    Found a few issues...
    • Some services do not have the correct destination in their title (1B10 says maidenhead but actually goes to swansea). Checking if it is a localization issue at the moment.
    • Edit: Confirmed, blame Chinese Localization team.

I‘ve done about four runs now on the Remaster and am so pleasantly surprised at the performance on PS5 Pro. Only very minimal blurring here and there so far. Such an enjoyable and immersive route now. Well done Liam. I tip my hat to you Sir! :)

Having had a chance to make a few runs now my feedback for the route.......

    Pros...

Great amount of AI traffic with it making it feel real now compared to the previous two timetables... I actually want to use the route now.
Love the combination of FGW, GWR and mixed livery HST rakes and mixed 166 rakes again adding to the randomness of that time between the two liveries.
Being overtaken by a light HST power car on it's way from OOC to LA.... Again something seen in reality around the network.

    Cons... (well.... con)

I feel that with all the extra DLC used in the remaster it seems very odd that the yard at Southall is pretty much empty? Why not add some maroon railtour coaches (ala WCR waiting for railtours) around there and mk2s from the 86 pack to fill it out a bit especially as they both appear in the layers list anyway.

So all in all GWE has gone from being a route I only had installed for the stock layering on other routes to a route I actually want to use.

Could this be the case of another service elsewhere on the route having a SPAD but terminates the player run as a result?
