I was just wondering why the rail journeys aren't updated as a part of a remaster. I kinda enjoy now knowing what I'm getting into when loading a journey but sadly cannot enjoy say the GWE, SKA, or ECW remasters this way (not to mention something like WCMLS with its soon to be five different timetables?) Anyone else would be interested in this or am I the only weirdo?
I understand your frustration. I do like having journey mode to give a bit of a sense of a plan and progression. However I can also see how they don’t want to update journey mode as then the scenarios might stand out as having been designed with the old timetables in mind. I suggested in the recent survey that they allow users to create their own journey by selecting timetable services to string together, as I’d like to be able to work a ‘shift’ of different services without having to wait between services in free roam mode and I think that user created journeys could also solve the problem of no longer having journeys with new timetables.
Well it would have been nice. I never actually finished the original or DLOGW Journey mode, believe it or not, but to do so now means loading into the old timetable. Obviously couldn’t have included the optional layers but 25 or so elements for the HST, Class 166 and Class 66 would have rounded it off nicely.
Interested yes, but 'not being able to enjoy it now': no. Not by a long shot. I'm going to finish the GWE journey and the remaining scenarios knowing that I won't see all layers. The visual improvements are enough for me to still enjoy that.
I was a little disappointed with this too however for a free update I’m certainly not complaining. I’ll happily pay for a new journey’s expansion for this route though as this remaster is incredible and surely it’s coming with the HST farewell pack?
I wonder how difficult it is to create rail journeys for a route. Also, I feel like sometimes they are needlessly long. Rivet loves to do this with the run from A to B and vice versa 20 times each. But when a route comes with a lot of rolling stock then its okay. Or the way TSG does it. Also enojyed MSB where you explore only a couple of stations at a time. Maybe the awesome services list could be used, although obviously post release.
