Fantastic work on the remaster DTG Liam! Well worth the wait in my opinion although I was uncertain if it would ever see a release with the continual delays!

    Found a few issues...
    • Some services do not have the correct destination in their title (1B10 says maidenhead but actually goes to swansea). Checking if it is a localization issue at the moment.
    • Edit: Confirmed, blame Chinese Localization team.

I‘ve done about four runs now on the Remaster and am so pleasantly surprised at the performance on PS5 Pro. Only very minimal blurring here and there so far. Such an enjoyable and immersive route now. Well done Liam. I tip my hat to you Sir! :)

Having had a chance to make a few runs now my feedback for the route.......

    Pros...

Great amount of AI traffic with it making it feel real now compared to the previous two timetables... I actually want to use the route now.
Love the combination of FGW, GWR and mixed livery HST rakes and mixed 166 rakes again adding to the randomness of that time between the two liveries.
Being overtaken by a light HST power car on it's way from OOC to LA.... Again something seen in reality around the network.

    Cons... (well.... con)

I feel that with all the extra DLC used in the remaster it seems very odd that the yard at Southall is pretty much empty? Why not add some maroon railtour coaches (ala WCR waiting for railtours) around there and mk2s from the 86 pack to fill it out a bit especially as they both appear in the layers list anyway.

So all in all GWE has gone from being a route I only had installed for the stock layering on other routes to a route I actually want to use.

If anybody wants to run a light loco class 43 power car, it's 0Z77

Could this be the case of another service elsewhere on the route having a SPAD but terminates the player run as a result?

Strange? It was deliberate: it was chosen to showcase the HST as Queen of the Mainline, doing her original job. Once the wires went in the 43s were demoted to regional service and the washboard-seat Hitachis took over.

They'll give a quick acknowledgement, once a month and then crickets. If it was a priority, it'd have been fixed by now. 17 months to fix a memory leak is shocking.

Don't know if this is the right place, but I'd like to share my opinion (5 runs after): the job done here is absolute outstanding, really :love:Meticulous attention to detail, which elevates immersion to a whole new level. Down the line is literally stuffed with every layer possible (if you have them, obviously). But its strongest point (new TT aside) is the TOD4 upgrade and new lights/shadows, Imo. It really makes the difference :D
Here are some first shots from yesterday's runs:

I feel like I'm in the minority but I quite like it. It is, functionally, the I electrified route bit with the statement that 'this route is changing' which, at the time, it was and, now, has.

It's a unique time period for any route in the game and it gives a very unique bit of character - albeit it does restrict the route's time period.

I would love to see a GWE 2020 route with Class 345s running from Reading to London; post-387 and 80× introduction, perhaps set when the 360s still ran to Heathrow. Having 345s running frequently into Paddington's main terminal would be cool, too.
However, I still think GWE is very good as what it is and it's interesting to see a snapshot of the railway's evolution.

I believe so. There's a core issue with AI doing this when they start too close to a signal on timetable starts, but this looks well into a run. Either way I've added it to my review list and hopefully have a fix for this service.

Seeing how Liam’s remaster has breathed new life and joy into GWE has made me wonder how awesome it would be for NTP to get the same treatment....

Unsure if this just for console memory, but I’m on Xbox Series S and there aren’t some layers appearing like the night riviera layer, “Woodham Phoenix” and 37 EPX services. I believe I own the necessary DLC for it, but it doesn’t appear.
Other than that, this is a great remaster!

Having a preference for diesel traction and no great affection for electric trains, the time selection is fine with me. Plus it's nice to have the old timetable still available.

It's nice to be able to drive Turbo's on the fast lines now without the game expecting you to do way more than their top operating speed of 90mph

For me personally, it really has nothing to do with electric trains, I will always prefer the HSTs anyway. Just generally dislike how it is half built, doesn't look or feel right to me (even if that's obviously how it once was) along with locking the route into an extremely specific time period. I do find this to be the worst way they could have done the electrification, however I understand some will like it for the exact reason I don't because being this way it gives the route character, and that routes don't really ever exist in this state in game.

Also needs Matt P or whoever is in charge of such matters, to review whether an AI SPAD should terminate the player run, particularly if on a section of route that won't affect the player, or remove the trains directly involved from the simulation.

Anyhow, got to finish up my run from Zawierce into Katowice then I'll be back thrashing trains along GWE!

Ah, never crossed my mind that mods could be the culprit, thanks, I'll have a look at what other mods I have for GWE and remove.

I guess this could also be the reason for many hanging OHLE arms without being attached to the masts in Reading. I seen replies to my original post but I don't think they understood what I meant, I know the route and TT era is pre-electrification between Reading and Airport Junction, it's just their was floating parts that were not attached to anything.

** Update ** - I've removed a couple more mods I found and has resolved the floating unattached OHLE at Reading and floating Coaches on the bridge at Paddington

Late last night my PS5 downloaded some updates and I came on here to find out it was the long waited GWE update. That was a pleasant surprise. On completion I loaded the updated route and gave it try. My actual reaction was to repeatedly say out loud the word "WOW" !

This is a fantastic piece of work and the effort invested is clear in the density, quality and depth of the scenery which is a stunning improvement on the original version. The huge increase in quantity and variety of trains and services now available is also amazing, breathing new life and activity into what was previously a fairly dead line and transforming GWE completely into being amongst the very best UK routes in TSW.

To Liam and all the team involved I repeat my initial reaction... WOW! This is really excellent impressive top quality work and I would like to thank you for the obvious massive effort you have put in. GWE already was a fave route but has now been updated into something really special and for all this to be made available free is truly wonderful.

I fully appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this project and am honestly very grateful to everyone involved.

    Thank you.

    Agreed.
There's nothing Liam can do with a remaster to address a Core issue.
They're entirely unrelated and it casts unfair blame while masking solid work that people have been demanding for a long time now.
Just take the "win" for once and be grateful. =-)

Like others I held off playing this route once the remaster was announced, and I'm glad I did as it felt so fresh and new.

What a phenomenal achievement! The route is now so busy with so much going on. The HST farewell pack will be a day 1 purchase for me, no question. And I can't wait for more remasters, if they're anywhere near as good as this one!

The only downsides are the inevitable compromises of the Tube stand-ins. Would love to have actual S7 Stock in game, or failing that properly authentic D78 Stock.

Just done my first run on the remaster. A HST from Reading to Paddington. Just one word really "awesome". I haven't driven this route for several years, it is transformed. The lighting is great, the scenery improvements are great, the timetable fantastic, passed so many trains. Good seeing Acton yard fairly busy and Paddington has gone from maybe having one or two trains in it to probably 3/4 full. This will be one of my favourite routes for sure. My only complaint was the run was over too quickly, but that is nothing to do with the remaster of course.

Thanks to Liam and all involved in this.

I can't wait for ECW and Koln/Aachen to be remastered, two other favourite routes of mind.

I would love to see NTP and BML in particular get a remaster as those are potentially two of my favourite routes but I don't like driving them as the lighting is so poor and also the timetable in the case of NTP.

Have done a couple of runs and I am duly impressed, especially with the lighting, makes such a difference.

One thing I'm struggling with though is figuring out which trains are and are not compatible with my Raildriver. I've found that at least one of the high speed trains isn't. Didn't have this issue on the original route.

Folks I need a little help here. Is the GWR - Night Sleeper layer dependent on the upcoming HST farewell DLC? The train should be a class 57, which is a refurbished 47, but the 47 in the TT is just a railtour. Also, what rolling stock from the Diesel Legends DLC should be present (just static)? And finally, what is required for the Parliamentary train to appear? As usual, documentation from DTG is lacking.

Yes that is my one abiding thought. The remaster is brilliant, a masterpiece, but... still only the 36 miles of Paddington to Reading.

I just finished off my Warsaw to Katowice run on SimRail which I did over several evenings now the SP save game (mostly) works. 330km driven and around 3 hours and 40 minutes one end to the other.

Parliamentary Train is the Chiltern 166 from the Mildmay line addon
The Night Riviera is a 47 & Mk3s from the West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
