In your opinion, which DLC layers add the most value to the GWE-R?

WCML for the 350 and 1972 Stock and Island Line 2022 for the D Stock. But only the 350 has some real gameplay, the D Stock services are very short. But those layers do help with the busy feel of the route on Paddington and Broadway.

Especially Island line (short driveable LU services and great AI scenery) and WCML for Heathrow Connect (and also LU scenery).

Anyway, this is if you have to choose, as I agree with Hentis on this one and you have to get them all :)

The 484’s are also a bit off in appearance to the D stock which in any event wouldn’t have appeared on the H&C line. Prior to the S stock, these services were worked by C69/C77 sets.

Weren't they similar in appearance? Especially as AI scenery it seems close enough :)

Oh yes better than nothing, but the glaring difference is the filled in centre door/window on the end.

For the year they've set the route in, the S Stock - which is very different - were already in place on the Hammersmith & City line, having been introduced in 2012 and taking over completely in 2014.
The only good thing about the S Stock is if someone does one of the other lines they are based on, you could see that layered into this route. For example, if someone did the Metropolitan line, there's very few differences between the S7 & S8 variants.

Thinking about it, just say I was a TSW developer building the Met, as well doing the native S8 stock, I'd create an S7 variant too. Not only for AI at Ealing Broadway and services through Royal Oak, but when the Richmond extension for Mildmay comes along, you can do some short trips on that line as well, as well as seeing it as AI on the route.
I'm all for building DLC which can be layered into and improve other routes as well, and helps with sales of said DLC.

Apart from the length of the trains, 7-car v 8-car, the only other differences I have seen while travelling is the seating layout.

Definitely. Actually all the layers add to the busy timetable. The only one I don't have is Mildmay.

    Can I say everything :)
I couldn’t imagine not seeing the 484, 350 or tube stock. Paddington would feel like a ghost town.

Which one would add the most for freight? Some of the Cargo Lines?

Cargo lines 1, 2 and 4 all ad several services. For some of the aggregate services you (also) need SEHS.
