Seeing has we have so many variants of this loco . Im trying witch as the best physics and the better one to use i thoughts would be good. Thanks
It's kinda subjective I guess but for me, the cargo line 66's are my go to. That led cluster is just nice. To my ears though, the SEHS 66 has the best sounds. As for the physics, my assumption was that they're all the same, no?
The Cargo Line Vol. 1 & 2 ones would be best IMO. Skyhook gave them a custom lighting setup with the colour of the gauge lights and headlights, plus they went back and updated them with suspension phsics making them the only clean EWS ones with them implemented, though this is soon to change with the GWE remaster. The DB ones however suffer with the same issue from the WCMLS 66 where the texture for the headlight being turned on disappears a short distance from the engine, so I would put the Petroleum/Aggregates EWS version as my personal choice for the best.
I think DTG need to fix the 66 before they even think about adding a new freight loco, as I'm sure this (points down) isn't supposed to go there
Completely agree and would also add that the Cargo Line units seem to have a less gauzy "dirty effect" windscreen to my eyes. Some of the others, especially the ECML version, seem to really reduce clarity vs. the exterior view. While I'm sure real locos probably have dirty windscreens, when I'm driving I want to see the outside as well as possible.
This would be because they are descended from the RHTT version. The RHTT 66 was filthy anyway so it made sense there. For ECML they simply copy and pasted the RHTT 66 and removed the controller, but then towards the end of TSW4 it was this version which received suspension physics. The DB versions since then were copied from the dirty ECML version, likely because of the suspension, and in retexturing the livery they left the old RHTT window dirt. This remained the case for the Cargo Line 3+ DB units, I imagine because they copied the WCML exterior model. Cargo Line 1 & 2 on the other hand are descended directly from the SEHS version when the sounds were first revised, and the suspension physics were merely copied back into them with no model updates. On a somewhat related note, with the GWE remaster releasing tomorrow and the ECW remaster coming down the line, both of their 66s will be getting the suspension and sound updates. The result these remasters is that the SEHS 66, once the top unit with its new sounds, will be the oldest version and the only one left without suspension physics.
I like RHTT and the one from the EE pack. The version with the ridiculous headlight cut in/out issue and the terribly sensitive brakes is a no, no.
As the Class 66 is my core traction in real life. None of the currently available versions are any good. The bugs that have been present since the original Xbox version of TSW are still here, and they've progressive got worse every time someone releases a new version in their DLC. I would love for Matt P to actually pull the current Class 66 and replace it with ONE version that's actually an accurate representation of the actual locomotive.
Certainly. Correct power to weight hauling capabilities. Pulling an intermodal train weighing just over 1000 tonnes on a flat gradient at Reading for example, should not require you to pull away in notch 5 or above. You should be able to move away quite easily in notch 2 or 3. It's the same on ECW when at Newhaven, those trains struggle to move in Notch 8 when they can easily be moved in much lower power notches. Correct braking profiles for trains hauled by the Class 66. Correct setup of the air braking system. It's currently the wrong way round and very broken.
Thanks for answering, it's really appreciated to have real life drivers insights. This game is meant to be a simulation, so such feedback is obviously of primary importance. Funny thing it's the complete opposite of what TSC was... With the Fort William leg of the Caledonian Sleeper, I almost never had to go beyond the first notch... It really went off like a dragster. And the loco was the AP enhanced one... But I guess it also has to do with the game own physics simulation, not just the specific loco.
Oh don't worry there is a Class 66 driver or 2 on the input side, well there used to be, not sure how well they were listened too though.
