Loving this remaster. Playing 9n PS5 with all layers enabled. Good performance and no graphic issues. The only issue I had was travelling as a passenger on a 165. I moved to the outside view then back inside. This cause my character to become wedged in between 6 seat half a carriage away. Nothing I could do to free myself. I had to quit. The only crash I have had was using the new 166 on BML. Performance was poor with low FPS and the game hard crashed as I was leaving Redhill.
Some positive feedback from a longtime TSC player on PC who now plays TSW on PS5…….. Amazing update……turning a dead route into an amazing and immersive experience with outstanding backdated timetable….. Multiple plays where I have spawned on foot and been in the game for hours playing multiple 166/5 and HST services with no crashes and……more importantly…..no blurry textures!!!!!! Great update……I hope we can sort out blurries on the new WCMLS timetable and Brum to Crewe……. I don’t normally post…..but I felt that some encouragement and congrats were in order…… Cheers!
Haven’t had an issue so far, on Series S, which is surprising but absolutely welcomed! Incredible work, as you can probably attest from the many pages on these forums, but I’d like to celebrate Liam’s hard work on a deeper level. The route is now the best in the game. At least from a UK perspective. It’s a beautiful swan-song to a bittersweet moment, an end of an era. Seeing Paddington full of HST’s and DMU’s, yet large parts of the route draped in overhead infrastructure.. a reminder of the need for evolution but at the cost of familiarity and tradition. GWE now feels like the love letter to the HST it was always meant to be. The perfectly captured moment in time, the 11th hour, before it all changed. Thank you for taking on this project, well done for getting it done and congratulations for capturing and evoking such an emotional period of change on the Western region. 10/10
I play on PS4 and so am aware that I will experience a reduced timetable with only the base stock (66, 43s and 165/166s) involved, however I do wish that I would be able to access the railtour timetable as well. I feel that with the current timetable, the route runs mostly smoothly, and so I feel a few extra small services in the form of the railtours wouldn’t harm, especially since the Railtours was quite a big selling point of the route (especially Scotsman). Also, one thing that I noticed on the 66s is that the numbers on the front if the cab can be different to the numbers on the cab sides (It said 66660 on the front but 66356 on the sides), which I saw when re-running the scenario in which you rescue a failed HST and drag to back to the depot.
Why does the 350 train PIS show Hanwell and Elthorne, did they rename the station map only says Hanwell ?
Also noticed the lack of spaces in the station names on the PIS above the seats by the door, just a small detail but one that I noticed.
When selecting the 2017 timetable via "Choose a route", I am unable to select the class 350. When I select the 2017 timetable via the "train depot", then select the class 350, I am able to select GWE.
Overall positive vibe from GWE remaster. In fact I'd not really touched TSW since September, so this sort of brought me back from the brink! The only negatives I've found has been Stop markers and lack of selective door locking. If it wasn't for the fact that I was operating as Conductor these issues might have gone unnoticed. Operating service 1R02 London Paddington to Reading on the HST FGB (8 car) diagram - this a semi-fast HST calling at several stations enroute, and runs on the Down Relief. This means that at Slough the train is longer than the platform length. IRL such circumstances would dictate selective door locking (if available) be employed. If that option is not available the alternative is for passengers to utilise the crew door towards the front of the train. I have actually experienced this when travelling on a Class 150/2 and stopping at Freshford (between Westbury and Bath Spa) on the "Heart of Wessex" line. 1R02 could be an unusual service for this type of rolling stock and such an irregularity was not anticipated with the functionality of the guard's panel for Central Door Locking on HST sets. Operating service 2P46 Oxford to London Paddington (starting from Reading at 12:01) - this is a 6 car train formed of two Class 166 GWR units. At Maidenhead Platform 4 it would appear the stop marker utilised is the 2-3 Car Stop sign not the 4-6 Car Stop sign further Up the platform.
Class 166: - The wiper animations do not match the cleaned area of a glass. - Please, increase the instrument panel backlight resolution - speedometer is incredibly hard to read with the instrument lights on because of a pixelated mess. - Let me open the window, I want to get some fresh air. And give a bonus to whoever optimized Paddington. Or better yet, hire them to create all the major stations. I didn't expect to see 75 fps.
Sorry to report running the route with a Class 166 up from Reading to Paddington on a stopper resulted in two hard locks of the game and PC, on separate occasions. First time yesterday evening about a minute after leaving Maidenhead or 1.5 miles from Taplow. Second this evening when I resumed the run again and this time got as far as running into Burnham platform. On both occasions the screen froze with sound still playing. Couldn't Alt Tab to browser or even Steam. Had to hard reboot on both occasions as couldn't Alt Tab to Task manager after starting it either to kill TSW.
DTG Liam Hi Liam Class 166 job 1P85 you SPAD after about 5-10 mins into the job even tho you have all greens. Xbox series x. Tried three times happens all time.
I tried that and all that happened was the train started rolling backwards. Ran it to beyond the end of the wires and tried using the engine there and still got nothing. It told me that the trains power would need to be switched before the run started but it didn't tell me which power system needed switching too
Well, that's a new one for me. Saved the ECS from Southall to Paddington (66 with Royal Scotsman on rear) around Old Oak Common area. Come back later and when I went to load it, it wouldn't load, the wheel just turned and turned and kept going. After 10 minutes I had to to end task to get out of the wheel of doom. That's never happened to me on this game before. Service was 5Z60.
5T12 350 ECS Old Oak-Paddington Unable to enter Paddington as signals are green for a train to leave the platform despite there being no train on the platform. Signaller won’t give permission.
The lights are off on AI class 165 and 166 trains. They should be on by default. This is especially noticeable at night when the carriages are dark.
Ps5 387 4 cars I get the won’t fit in this scenario message. 4 cars yet I can still spawn a 12 car 377.
That's not the issue. The class 350 is not listed at all in the GWE 2017 timetable. I have to go via the train depot to be able to select a service. I do have the WCML south installed.
Just wondering, if we ever got a heathrow route in tsw6 or 7? With the heathrow connect class 360 would that train replace the class 350? In the new timetable?
He's passionate about trains and obviously to him he craves 100% realism to a degree.. Yes he does seem like one that would be hard to please no matter the release but its his channel and he is entitled to his opinion whether one agrees or not.. like anyone you have a choice to watch his reviews or not.. My opinion, Appreciate the effort Liam put in, enjoying the upgrade such a big jump over the previous version, thankful for the large TT despite the numerous errors in rolling stock used (some great mods coming by the look of it to rectify some of that, especially a modified 350 which someone has turned into a 360) but to me, I hate the time period, feel it was a missed opportunity not to create a modern version. Many wont agree with me and that's fine but thats my opinion
I was thinking of getting the Diesel legends pack, but my focus is timetable... does that pack add a lot of playable services to GWE remaster? I mean like meaningful runs, not 5-10mins depot jobs or anything (I also have Northern Transpennine, East Coastway, London Commuter... are those locos usable on more UK routes in timetable?)
anyway, liking the remaster... tho I have forgotten how painfully sluggish the HST can be (for some reason I thought the Midland Mainline variant was a bit more nimble, but thats maybe cos it has more miles to reach its full speed and stretch its legs than here, dunno) ... and dont get me started on 166 ... on Riviera Line it again felt a bit faster, but maybe cos of the gradients and the fact that most of its services hover around 60 - 75 mph and only occasionally go to its max speed maybe I should try a full run with 802 and 805 to see if those offer more real power, at least in-game... but still, it is enjoyable and chill... I get that cos of the time this is set in we only get test runs with 802 and only shunting jobs with 220, which is a shame, cos it would be fun to run some more nimble stock on this relatively flat route
I noticed a floating sign right at Ealing Broadway. There's a weird bug where the window texture changes when the locomotive approaches. Also, it could just be my system, but sometimes I can't add snow during winter months in timetable mode.
Hey folks, DC actually delisted this as he realized he was being a bit harsh, and would rather it not be shared. I will say DTG had nothing to do with it; the community did.
Morning folks. I'll be going through this feedback thread properly this week. Remember to include your platform, where and what is happening when reporting bugs. We also welcome constructive feedback of course, but we appreciate the positive comments too!
I’m absolutely loving the GWE Remastered, the only thing I’ve noticed is the AI trains on the class 165 Have no passenger lights turned on and it’s Being like that since 2018 And also the class 43 It’s not going full speed it’s meant to hit 125 miles an hour but when it gets to 105 miles an hour It says stopping at red light when there is no red light I don’t know if this is a bug, but I’ve noticed that the class 43 are a little bit slow I don’t know if the brakes are stuck. I’m playing PlayStation 5
Carriage labels displaying the class and weight / seats on the 165’s need to be changed from 166 to 165.
Search facility… Currently you need to be in a route timetable and in the train type you want to drive to find a route, ie 6A60, which is a freight route in GWE… and then there’s a list of different Class 66s.. and you need to be in the right train.. Why can’t you search for a route, ie 6A60, from where you enter the Timetable area? People are posting good routes to do but unless you know which train you’re looking for, searching doesn’t find that route just by number. Case in point, I was searching for a route but couldn’t find it until I was told where it was… That would help a lot.
Managed to get rid of all blurry textures on Series X by removing the 350 variants and the 802. Doesn’t affect the busyness of the route too much and meant it ran flawlessly for me. Very pleased
Platform; Xbox Series S Just ran 2G05 Greenford to London Paddington with the 2-car GWR 165 and the front carriage spawned in wearing the unbranded Chiltern livery from Mildmay Line;
Still have at least a couple of high speed trains which are not responding to Raildriver levers. Will try another recalibration.
Which ones are they? I am able to check out to see if its your setup or the trains not being set to use Rail Driver. So far, I have not had an issue with the HST when using my Rail Driver.
Pretty good tbh, a few blurry textures here and there but it's not bad tbh. One thing I've noticed though is i don't get any static stock in Southall depot when as far as I'm aware there's meant to be mk2 coaches there. I do have the required content too and the layer is enabled
Just doing 1P90 after reading about it in the "Awesome Runs" thread. This may be a hangover from the original GWE but no approach control (or flashing aspects leading to the controlling signal) going from the Up Relief to Up Main at Maidenhead East. So unless you have the HUD on this means you are confronted with going from 75 MPH into a 40 MPH set of crossovers. Also the signal preceding the one at the junction was showing green, which was then on to a single yellow with feather. Shouldn't it be 4 aspect in this area? Now approaching Slough West on the Up Main and being signalled back on to the Up Relief. This did it slightly better in that checked down to a single yellow with feather, but still not how approach control works. The junction signal should be held at red until the detection picks up the train has reduced speed then clear - as has been implemented on later routes. Continuing on now, so will update with any further signalling anomalies. Edit: Same again at Dolphin, just hecked down onto a single yellow already cleared with feather.
Now some more general observations... Finished the 1P90 run and other than the signalling issues, very nice too. However... 1. Although the station and building lighting has improved the remaster can't address the inherent issues with night lighting the game has. London is virtually pitch black - should be awash with ambient light and light pollution as you get close to Paddington. 2. This route illustrates why we need a comprehensive tabular timetable for each route showing all trains, rather than having to ferret through linear listings under individual train types. 3. We absolutely need the chained run issues sorting so you can take an extended tour of the route (along with more than one save slot without the need for mods, so you can break and come back to it). Is the EP listening, please? Oh and 4... By this point weren't the Greenford services cut back to West Ealing, with the 387's starting to work Paddington to Hayes Bay and return half hourly?
maybe a silly question, but I dont know the term - how does it differ visually and functionally from a regular yellow? edit: question on a different matter - I am thinking of buying Diesel legends, watched a part of some stream... it had I think class 52 on lead and then on the tail end... does it count as a MU? and how do you set up the lead and rear loco? does only the front loco do the work or you somehow set it up so both work the load?
I did a run from Paddington to Reading in a 2 car class 166 and the label in the cab above the window with the unit info said it was a class 397 and not a 166. The number in the pause menu was correct, as was the numbering on the outside of the unit.
A colour light signal "feather" (or junction indicator) is a row of white lights mounted at a 45° or 90° angle above a main railway signal, used in the UK to indicate that a train is taking a diverging route at a junction. It signifies that the route is set for a lower-speed branch line rather than the straight-ahead main line.
This arrangement is called 'top and tail'. Our british friends do not count it as a MU (unlike in France, where the designation Unité Multiple applies interchangeably for both locomotives, EMUs, and DMUs). In most cases, the rear loco is 'dead in tow', ie it doesn't apply traction. If you want it to (irl), the coaches have to be wired thru so that the rear engine can be controlled from the front cab. Needless to say, the two locomotives have to be compatibles. In timetable mode, it should work as intended by the designer, but if you spawn a custom consist and you want the rear engine to provide power, then you have to insert the master key in the rear cab too. Don't touch anything else (such as brakes). At least it's so with an HST. With two Class 66 for example, there's a 'Banking Comms' system, but how that works, idk.
Flying Scotsman Down railtour is a nice way to take in the remaster at a more leisurely pace and particularly appreciate the bridge reverb. Though I'm a bit puzzled why it has been limited to 60 MPH when FS is permitted to run at 75 MPH and highly unlikely it would be pathed down the Main Line running at that speed. One other thing that seems to have slipped the net - passengers on main line platforms. Apart from Slough plus maybe Maidenhead and Twyford in the peak, there shouldn't be any. The main line platforms are fenced off as a suicide prevention measure and only opened up by station staff as needed, for example due to an incident or engineering work closing the relief lines.
You can understand why though. Anyone that's been stuck in the DTG system for longer than 2 versions has so much pent up negativity and expects the release to flop. I won't go further as it wouldn't fit this thread.
This is very disappointing. I haven't run a night service yet. But it's definitely not that DTG or anyone else cannot do adequate night lighting. A few routes are OK, even Cathcart is better after its remaster. It seems to be at its worst when large urban centers are involved, like Manchester ( Glossop ) or Birmingham ( BCC ). And now Paddington ( GWE-R ) ? Sorry to say, you cannot explain this night lighting problem except in terms of simple carelessness / laziness. Unlike many issues in TSW, it's a problem with a solution.
