So, I've always wondered but is there any actual tangible difference in performance (from stuttering, blurry textures, video memory errors, chances of the game freezing and/or general performance etc) depending on how much DLC add-ons you have installed at any one time? The only obvious thing noticeable too me when you have more DLC installed is the loading time of the game. For context, I play on Series X but also curious for other console platforms such as Playstation and so on. Thanks.
For me, Riviera Line only suffers blurry textures if WCML Over Shap is installed, even if I have no layers enabled from that route. However without it installed Riviera Line runs fine, even with a few layers enabled.
It shouldn't in theory because the add on manager (introduced on all platforms to help with the PS dlc limit) should only load the things that are required for that route being played and not everything else. Whether it works as desired I cannot say.
It definitely makes booting up the game a slower process. It takes me about 3-4 minutes to load in fully (PS5 Pro). That’s with 95% of all content owned for the game.
Same here on Xbox Series X Its not ideal but I can actually get rid of alot if the blurryness by removing 70% of the layers. But the routes are dead which really stinks. We on console seem to get the short end of the stick for remastered timetables because of blurry textures.
This is true. I’ve only got a small handful of DLC’s installed at the moment and the performance is exactly the same as when I had everything installed at once.
One of the biggest things I've found is making sure you have a fresh reboot, if you use suspend/resume, before playing.
