A feature I turned off as soon as the constant coughing and sniffing started. I get enough of that when travelling IRL (and they always sit by me or near by me) so couldn't be doing with that in a game. I was hopping for a mod which cut that out but there doesn't seem to be one

Oh we went one better than that the other week coming back from Reading to Swindon. It was a 5 car Cucumber vice a 9 car so we ended up sat at a table opposite a guy, who spent the entire journey dressing down his wayward daughter via a video conference call on his laptop. He went on and on at here about her failings, wrong choice of friends, you let me/your mother/your brother etc. down and poor core values in a voice loud enough half the coach could hear. More like a manager rollicking an employee than a father/child heart to heart!

When we got off the train, my missus turned to me and said, "No wonder his daughter's the way she is with a father like that!" Not the sort of talk you have remotely let alone in a train full of people.

I hate having to sit with a random person or people on public transit. At least last time I had to it was a 150 with 3+2 seating so the random person wasn't like right next to me.
(Just to be clear I have nothing against that person in particular I just like having my own personal space)

It depends, it's not necessarily better, especially if they're crammed...

I actually have one major complaint that is ruining this remaster for me. The textures of the food in the cafe on the 2nd floor of Reading station are not anywhere near accurate enough. I should be able to smell them from my TV when playing, it’s pretty game breaking for me unfortunately…

Everyone is entitled to an opinion you may not like it. But still they are entitled to them. its great remaster still with a few problems that are core related and few that aren't im sure they being sorted as we speak. Let's wait for the HST pack to come out buy and support grumpdog. And if you dont like the remaster thats fine just dont play it simple as that.

You could in the past, but they removed the dislike feature as I think some got upset over it.

DTG are well aware of the blurry textures and as said they are not caused by this remaster.

Can we please keep this thread GWE related. There's a lot of talk here about other things which is making it harder to keep track of feedback or issues.

As for texture blur, yes I am aware of it on GWE and it's okay to mention it as part of feedback. However, the texture blurring is a core issue. DTG is aware of it being a prominent issue on routes updated on the later TSW releases. As for what's being done, Matt has said it's the top priority right now and that fixes for it are coming, with these being tested on SEH first before a wider fix is released. I don't know about dates or exact specifics as core tech is not really my area but it is known and it is being worked on.

I'm on ps5 and now I've done a few services one bug I've seen is with the midland mainline hst sets ,when you're driving another service the power cars pop in very close to your train, only happens on the midland mainline hsts not the others. I have nearly all the layers for this route and further it runs very solid with no blurry textures ,anybody else picked up on this ?

Guys, enough of the petty back and forth squabbling.

Blurring and/or other performance issues - this has been discussed to death. It's been recognised as a core issue and this is to be worked on.

Until we hear any information in regard to fixes, can we please leave it at that? This thread has been derailed more than enough times by now, and I would hate for it to get locked because of a few who cannot read the rules or listen to what has already been posted.

This thread is to discuss the appreciation of the remaster update, as well as to report any issues found with the route, timetable, as well as its rolling stock.

Are there Midland Mainline HSTs on this route?

I've gone through the list of available power cars on GWE and I don't have that option

DTG Liam had a few runs on GWE-R over the past few days, and while I’m not much a fan of diesels, I can confidently say you’ve done a cracking job at remastering the route. The scenery is immaculate and I’m loving the new foliage and stations, particularly the two end points (although Paddington is very loud!). Even small details I can tell have had a change for the better, and altogether really contribute to the realism and gameplay experience on the route. The new timetable is really adding to the immersion; I’m noticing a few services here and there being held outside Paddington to await another leaving, nice addition as the journey has something which makes it a bit more interesting. Was a bit disappointed with the exclusion of the 387, but I quite like the new liveries and internal colours that it’s come with, hoping we do get a 387 DLC soon! :)

I’ve noticed there are a handful of issues, which specifically pertain to the rolling stock, I think some of them might be legacy issues, for example I noticed the interior lights on the 165/166 still have to be turned on manually, so when driving past one in the night you can’t see anything of it. The GSM-R doesn’t load the head-code correctly (only displays a 2 digit number then 998 in place as a signal number), and the TPWS fault button lights up instead of the train stop override when pressing the latter.

I understand these are minor issues, hoping these can be addressed soon! Other than that, it’s a splendid route to drive compared to before (Hopefully this becomes one of my regulars). Well done mate :D

DTG Liam Just found a possible bug in the remaster? On service 3P55 you are instructed to leave Reading TCD but get a red signal at the entry to the platform at Reading which stays at red and you are not allowed to get permission to pass. Assuming there was a service in the platform I looked on the "9" screen and found no service there and my own route signalled out of the platform at the East end so just appears to be the entry signal which is stuck at red and stopping you using this service.

One other thing I noticed too..... On the 0Z77 HST light power car move from OOC to LA the speed limit stays at whatever the line speed is when it should be either 60mph or 75mph the same as any other light loco move.

Not sure if this could affect which line the service is routed on as the service routes you onto the fast lines and expects you to run at 125mph when in reality you would be running at 75mph max.

In case the scenery ever gets another look there's a wonky AWS ramp in Reading p14: IMG_2026.02.10-17.24.03.jpg

This one was 100% fixed pre-release. No idea why it wasn't in the release build but it has been noted.

Just wanted to confirm, but has the passenger saloon lights being switched off for the AI 166/165s also been noted? I normally wouldn't ask, but currently it ruins the immersion at night.

    Kind regards.

Anyone else get spurious AWS alarms?, only happens for one signal, even though that signal (and those around it) are green.

Not sure if it's been seen on the feedback thread.

    DTG Liam

    1A40, Penzance-Paddington sleeper.

If I choose it on the timetable the game would put me at random locations and the actual train wouldn't spawn in.

If I spawn on foot at Reading the train is there, at Slough it's rerouted onto the down slow through Slough and then rerouted at the next crossover back onto the up slow.

The train is then later routed onto Old Oak Common reception road and put behind an HST coming out of OOC.

There's no yellow signals warning the driver of the upcoming switch and considering it's a 15mph turn out, could wake up the passengers.

As no one has mentioned it on here yet. On stream, it has been announced that there is also a GWR 387 Pack coming.

I thought I heard Matt say that but I was in the middle of washing up! I was expecting one to appear on the roadmap but it didn't. This pack is sounding exciting.

Yep! There's an official GWR 387 pack that will also come with the HHA wagon from Grump Dog Games (Liam)

    So that's why the unbranded 387 wasn't included :)

Of note, in case you and others haven't yet seen, there's been a bit of technical detail released on how they're planning to try and address the blurring issues in the roadmap released today. Also Matt confirmed on stream that Firefly Studios are helping out with these fixes. While they are new to the 3P program itself, they do have a lot of history modding TSW and general UE4 knowledge so I think that's somewhat re-assuring.

Honestly I’m quite surprised we didn’t see the signs, remember the cross city pack that hinted towards the class 220 coming lol, they said there was no plans a boom one month later it was out

Wonderful news! I could immediately suspect when we were told ‘In case for example a Class 387 DLC is made in the future’ that it would be made. :D

When driving the Night Riviera out of Paddington, you are allowed at MU speed (100mph) instead of the 85 limit that should apply...

This is an issue which has been present and carried over from the original Great Western Express release. There are 'ghost' AWS warning for green signals, as you seem to get an AWS warnings with every diverging track or junction, which has a lower speed compared to the line you are travelling on.

I understand the signalling and track rules set up for this route is pretty 'ancient' and trying to fix this and bring it up to the latest standards may break the signalling on the entire route.

Not my area of expertise, however I believe that is why it is happening.

It was something that happened in TSC. I remember in the NWC route in particular there were a couple of a areas it happened. I just got used to it and knew when to ignore them after a couple of runs, as I will do here.

Thanks Liam. Did you get the opportunity to improve the signalling of the original? Fully understand if you didn't touch it but if you did some of those changes also may not have made it into the copy we've got.

PDE is like it too, AWS ramp for every Morpeth board - and Morpeth boards for every (or nearly every) speed reduction

I must have just never noticed it before, it happens a lot now.

Edit, also, could someone help me with layers, I have Southeastern high speed and BML installed, amongst a few other British DLC's, but there are a number of layers missing, that I'd like,

    SN-West London
    HC-Heathrow Airport Connect
    LU-District line
    LU-Central line

Which DLC's are needed for these?

I think most of those layers need WCML(S), certainly the 350 for Heathrow Connect, 72 stock for LU and possibly the Southern 377 too. If you want the LU D Stock that can be driven from Paddington to Westbourne Park, you will need the Class 484 from Isle of Wight 2022.

Alright folks, Liam has already requested keeping this on topic and the discussion is continuing to go in circles. Tapered off slightly now, but I'm going to go through and delete any argumentative comments and comments responding to those.

I also noted in the Feedback thread, no “flashers” or Approach Control/Release for any of the junction crossovers.
