How will some of the non-rail characters like Bertie work?
Will they just randomly spawn on the roads and fields when nearby?
Can we set them on a scripted path to follow?
Will they stop at rail crossings when close by?
If when on foot and we step in front will they stop?

Hopefully we can at least place them around the world like Bertie, Bulgy, Bulstrode, Harold, Jeremy (hopefully with a redesign), Dilly the barge, George, Algy the Bus, Terence, Treavor, and the Construction Crew.

I'd guess the non-rail characters will appear as assets on the routes in fixed locations. For many that makes perfect sense because that's where they appear (a fixed crane at the docks for example) Others, like a helicopter or something will probably be like the planes in TSW.
The ones you will be able to interact with will have to be close enough to the tracks to approach of course.

Not sure how feasible but would be fascinating if you could get a crane to lift up an engine or rolling stock, or have an engine placed on a boat.

I thought they'd do that on one of the previous maps (Maintalbahn I think it was?) in TSW where there's a moving crane at the port, but it never actually ended up doing anything but moving back and forth.
