I bet his wife would be hooked if she saw how nice the game actually looks. That’s where TSW does shine. The game looks very pretty for the most part. Not everyone wants to sit and play Call of Duty or FIFA just because they are popular and want to fit in with everyone else. I’ve shown TSW to a pal of mine who has ZERO interest in Trains and when I showed him one of the routes his reply was “I could play that for days” He thought it looked really good.
I know it's a joke, but imagine being that under the thumb you'd care what your wife thinks, or hide your real personality and interests from... The only sad person is the one under the thumb and having fake personality which comes from insecurity. I've been with my other half for 6 years, and we have a daughter, and I can assure you all, I've always proudly kept my interest in railways, as much as my misses keeps her own interests. The geeza who made the original Twitter post sounds like a complete melt and a wet wipe...
I think he needs his testosterone levels looked at. Imagine worrying about what your woman will think if you play TSW lol.
Not to speak on behalf of all females, but I think they'd be even more cringed out that someone faked not having a hobby/interest and attempting to hide true parts of their personality just to try and be with them! It's such a spineless personality trait. My misses doesn't care for railways but respects my interests, and vice versa. The fella who made the Twitter post has a Latin name: Meltus Maximosis
Literally this! I have a friend who has never played the game and I showed him screenshots of the Suffragette line as he is a Spurs fan. He was surprised by how beautiful the route looked! Fun fact he hadn't visited many of the nice areas of Tottenham near the river Lea and Waltham wetlands on the route and only knew the area around the stadium.
I’m not married, but I have a girlfriend and you’re right what you say. I wouldn’t hide any interests or hobbies that bring me some joy in life. If she told me you had to stop tomorrow I’d say get stuffed! It’s the same for her too, I wouldn’t dictate and tell her what to do. As long as it isn’t something silly like for example me buying a 70 grand car that i couldn’t afford, but i wanted it because it was my dream car as a kid. It was going to impact our life’s financially. That’s when it’s okay to tell me off lol.
Haha, started my collection in 2018 and I met my girlfriend at the end 2021, so I was in too deep then for her to try a sway me into putting my money to better uses. It’s not just TSW though, I love gaming in general. I just dropped £75 quid on Resident Evil Requiem (pre-order) last night. That, GTA 6, Forza horizon 6 and the new Star Wars Racer are the only games on my radar right now. To buy day one at least. I still want to play the new Silent hill F and MGS3 Remake at some point also. I’m currently just finishing off Ghost of Yotei.
Relatable. Only people who know I play TSW are my family. Otherwise, it'll be a secret I'll take to my grave. XD I'll tell my missus if I'm locked in with her, though.
Heavily agree with the sentiment that guy shouldn't have to hide his hobbies from his wife. If he does feel scared that way it just seems like a pretty toxic and insecure relationship. Assuming it isn't fabricated for twitter points...
I think any niche hobby or interest could insert itself into this. Flight Sim, Pro Fishing Games, Farm Sim, Truck Sim.. even SHG’s Lawn Mower Sim. Anything with ‘Sim’ (apart from The Sims) is probably considered ‘alternative’ or ‘niche’. Happy to have found my niche, anyway.
I have discovered recently that a few of my mates are quite open to things like TSW; albeit they don't play it. Even those who think it's a bit neeky (I think I'm allowed to say that here) are indifferent. If your significant other can't at least tolerate it then they are not the one. P.S. the OOP twitter account (Fesshole) is a kind of confessions account; so it's not for clout it's just someone sending it in so that people reply and they can see the responses.
Back when I started playing back in 2018/2019 (forget which), I’d only just started to rekindle my love of trains so I remember being pretty self conscious about playing it at the time. So I can get where this guy is coming from. Also he’s assuming what his wife’s reaction would be, if my own wife’s reaction is anything to go by he’d probably get a roll of the eyes and that’s about it
My wife rolls her eyes and leaves me to it, but hopefully this will push some curious people towards the game we know and love! Didn’t mean this post as a diss btw, I love the game and have done since TSW2020
My ex hated me even mentioning the game. At best she said 'well at least you arent looking at other women' Needless to say, I broke up with her as she was an alcoholic who was bitter that people could find happiness and joy in wholesome things. Thats their problem and not mine. i just hope the OP gets to realise they are in an abusive relationship and should use this as a sign its time to move on. My other ex is still a good pal and she loves how much joy TSW gives me and is always interested in seeing any new route or train I buy when she visits. I'd marry her in a heartbeat.
According to Wikipedia, Twitter was invented by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams. From what I've read, they weren't bad guys. It's the guy who owns it now that I think you're referring to.
