Hi, is it possible to disable that "Objective complete" message and that *ding* sound? They are really immersion breaking. I know you don't see the "Objective complete" message when you disable the HUD but you still get the sound that is also immersion breaking. So is there any way to disable that? A .ini setting? A mod? Something else?
My menu is in German but you can count ;-) For the sound: put the one after UI to off For the message go to player help and turn off the 4th option I think this should do it.
Thanks. But while this may disable the notification on new routes, in typical DTG fashion (inconsistency as always) it does not deactivate the "Objective Complete" Message in older routes (pre-TSW 6). Just awful
I don't get any "Objective Complete" messages on any route. Try turning off "show points" in the accessibility menu.
It's is not really message, it is more the objective details in the top left of the screen, when one is complete it makes a 'ding' sound.
I disable ALL HUD sounds in every game. I don't think I even made it as far as loading into a route in TSW before I'd muted them, and so I only know what this thing sounds like from DTG route reveal streams.
This does not help since I had that disabled forever already. It is route specific. some routes, especially older routes have the "Objective complete" message that you just cannot disable. For example "Frankfurt-Sbahn" and "Maintalbahn". I don't get them on Dresden-Leipzig
No I am talking about the "Objective complete" popup message that appears when the HUD is enabled in the upper middle of the screen. On some routes you cannot disable it
That is useful, but of course you probably still get the pause while the game thinks about completing then changing the objective. But yes it’s a horrible arcadey feature and if I go back on TSW I’ll be switching the sound off.
You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/live/tXfGKkNMPqU?si=zhKghPSNQGPA_7Ri&t=929 As I said for some reasons it is only there on some routes/timetables but there you cannot disable it. Seems to be hardcoded in the timetable/route Maybe DTG Matt can help us here OldVern you can simply put ts2.save.CheckpointsEnabled=0 in your engine.ini this makes the objective complete stutter disappear.
Oh wow I have seen this before but it has been a long time. I can't remember when or where but I feel like I turned that off.
As I already said numerous times. You CANNOT turn it off on some routes/timetables (except hiding the complete UI by pressing F1) and that exactly is the issue I am talking about. Why it only affects some routes and timetables only DTG knows...
Under sounds there is option to lower the volume for this kind of messages, it will not disable the message itself, but at least the sound is gone.
But I've played many different routes in the past few weeks. Ranging from TSW2 - TSW6 and haven't seen it.
Same here, I managed to turn it off completely, but I'm not really sure which option is the one needed. But I remember I had them about a month ago after reinstalling a couple of things or adding new (old) content. However now they are gone again. Maybe turn off subtitles (maybe the text is a subtitle for the *dong* ) [edit] the only in-game message I still get is train achievments for doing something for the first time. I find these quite annoying popping up in the middle of the screen. If someone knows how to turn these off feel free to share : )
DTG Harry can you please inquire which strange hidden setting makes the "Objective Complete" disappear completely? It is absolutely not clearly explained and might even be a bug that some people can turn it of an other can't
Worth a try but then of course you lose the option to resume your run from the last stop if you mess up with a SPAD or similar.
I mean in TSW most timetable runs and scenarios are well below an hour or slightly over an hour. So thats not an issue for me. If I don't even have one hour I might just not turn on the PC to play at all anyway
Fair enough but, for some of us, 1-2 hour sessions are often out of reach so we need a reliable save function just in case. A multi- save option would be preferable, but that's like the unattainable holy grail for DTG.
Ok there I am back at having the "objective complete" showing up all the time. Right now I am playing Glasgow-Edinburgh. I played around with a few HUD-Options, so it might also be me, but I guess your right. I shall post here if I manage to turn them off on this route too...
Because I got so annoyed by notifications the other day when driving the Bakerloo Line on WCML (two notifications per stop) I started adding "notification yes or no" to my list of services I've driven. The result is confusing, I get notifications on Glasgow-Edinburg, as well as on the WCML London to Milton Keynes. I don't get them on the Bakerloo Line, LIRR and Kinzigtalbahn. I think I also saw them on Riviera but not on Leipzig-Dresden and Morristown (but that's just out of my head for now). There is no pattern like old or new route... Has someone made a ticket about this yet? It should really be gone on all routes when the option for notifications is off!
Actually I might be getting closer to the issue! I just had a drive on S-Bahn Frankfurt, without any popup when driving from Wiesbaden to Frankfurt Hbf. Now on the return trip from Frankfurt Hbf to Wiesbaden I do have popups! Conclusion would be: popups are there whenever you take over a train from an AI driver <-> popups are not there when you start the service yourself at the first stop. That would also go with why I get them on Bakerloo @WCML but not on Bakerloo. It should be added I don't normally start services by picking them in the timetable. I always start in timetable mode at a specified time and walk to the train I want to drive. Maybe there are no popups when you start directly from the menu.
*sarcasm_on* It's a called Train SIM World not Train Arcade World. There are no popups in real trains. *sarcasm_off* I expect that option "turn off xy" implemented in a game does turn "xy" off. And not turn it off in some cases and leave it on in others. This post is not a feature request, we are requesting a feature that is already implemented to work as expected (and probably also intended). Besides that for me personally: each popup leads to lag for a maybe 1/10th of a second on newer routes where the PC is running at high capacity. And no if I run a service without popups on the same route I don't have the lag...
This would track with something being part of the game since launch that the devs forgot about and never deprecated.
