Out Now Great Western Express: Remastered - Out Now!

Yes that's normally the case across most/all routes, in this instance though there was no "end time" - possibly because I had finished one service then crossed the station and boarded another one - though unlike previous versions it did update the "in-cab" timetable rather than retaining n the old one. That said, I saved before exiting and upon reloading it does seem to trigger the end point however unfortunately it causes TSW6 to hang and due to some very bad coding it takes over the foreground so I can't even get task manager to kill it... Obviously some glitch with TSW there.

Anyway, been for another couple of spins, all good! Well done on a great job Liam

 

I keep getting crashes when running the 802 (I haven't had them on any other trains, though I haven't tried all of them). The message is:

I don't have much in the way of mods, except God Mode and JetWash's tweaks. Anyone else seeing this?

 

I don't know if I missed a memo or something (it's been a while since I actively followed news for this remaster), but wasn't there supposed to be a 387 layer for the Heathrow Express services? Or am I completely misremembering?

Either way, this is a stunning remaster. Seeing Paddington full of HSTs is very nostalgic. Love it.

 

Check for spikees cabcam mod - that caused it for me.

It doesn't work with some of the update (was a TSW5 mod).

 

So they can release dlc when steam staff are in office so in case any issues arise, they can be resolved quickly rather than release it early, nobody is in office and you have to wait several hours without staff in office over at steam.

 

Where I can find a good tutorial to switch power from electric to diesel in the 802?

 

I've had another couple of system crashes, I think it is down to loading a save. In this latest instance it was the class 66, it was running fine up until Maidenhead then TSW froze up. I rebooted the system, reloaded the save but went to the positionable camera (8 on keyboard) and moved it to Maidenhead station, the train passed through with no issue but the second I switched to the cab camera it locked up again.

I'm thinking it's some core issue that is being triggered by loading savegames. I will try and see if the same thing happens on another route.

what? they release DLC at 6pm UK time which is after the work day is over. if this was the case they would release it in the morning UK time

 

You've misunderstood the point here. DLC are released at 10am on the West Coast of the US which is when Steam techs are beginning the workday and are available to deal with any launch issues. Any earlier and Steam techs would not be available. 10am UK time is the dead of night in Washington State.

 

I can’t seem to see any 350s yet I have the required dlcs, anything I am missing?

 

Somehow this isn't a problem for the hundreds of updates and game releases that happen every day at any conceivable time because Steam is a giant multi-billion dollar platform that operates all over the world. Releases have to be pre-approved by Steam (to ensure it isn't malware or whatever) but once that's done actual "go live" time is entirely up to the developers.

I'm confused what problem Dovetail could have that steam "techs" would fix. Dovetail is responsible for their own games, nobody from Valve is monkeying around with TSW6 in the Unreal editor to fix signaling issues or whatever.

Edit: also my original point was that I don't understand why they insist on such late releases, since obviously there's nothing stopping them from pushing updates early! The GWE update was done "in the dead of night in Washington State" as you say.

 

It was the Spikee cab cam mod (which I'd somehow convinced myself I hadn't installed on TSW6). I've removed it and all is now 100% with your fantastic remaster!

 

The culprit is Spikee's Cab Cam mod. Delete it; it's out of date anyway

Drivable, they are a stand-in for the 360s that worked Heathrow Connects.

Presumably a matter of the long, messy history of DTG releasing stuff with various cross-gen entitlements and ensuring when an update for the latest version of a given addon comes out, entitlements are properly granted to anyone downloading it who bought a prior SKU and never downloaded it for TSW6 while they waited for the promised remaster. Fixing that if it breaks is a store-side issue.

 

Wait for a good sale.
It only runs short services between Paddington and Hayes & Harlington.

A really nice job on the remastering. Still on an Xbox One X here, but it plays very well.

Quick question for Gen8: to beef up the Diesel Legens timetable, is it sufficient to install Class 31 and the BR Heavy Freight Pack? Does it even make sense, i.e. will they appear at all?

 

Yesterday I got the Diesel legends for this and rather than rush down to Reading, it was great to just plod along . Money well spent and adds something to this route. Good job!

 

I'm afraid that is not entirely the case on PS4. The Island Line shows up perfectly but the Cargo Line Vol. 2 does not.

This remaster should’ve been looked at properly before release. I’m not the one to complain usually but today I tried services 3P55 & 2G61. Both are impossible to finish as it seems the timetabling is all muddled up. I’ve even tried setting new paths and removing any train movements that could conflict with my train. Still waiting at a red signal

it's like a permanent rain sheen on the 165/166 only, both in GWE and Riviera, it doesn't clear when using wipers.

Is there a handy list of all the layers and (importantly) which exact DLC combinations unlock them floating around somewhere? I have some cool extra stuff unlocked in the new timetable already, but would be nice to know how to get even more layers once the next discounts come along.

 

Maybe you can say what have I might be able tell what else there is to unlock.

However, I don’t think the layer info is super reliable. For example, it lists the Flying Scotsman DLC as the only part of the corresponding rail tour layer, adding four services. But when I saw the Flying Scotsman on the route, it was dragging a Class 47 along with it (presumably to provide electricity and/or heating to the passenger coaches). So there has to be another DLC that is needed along with the Scotsman itself to unlock the layer.

I don’t think so, considering the Flying Scotsman and its accompanying 47 show up for me even though I don’t have that route. I actually remember asking Liam to consider a cheaper and more popular (speaking of sales figures) DLC for the 47 so more people can enjoy the Scotsman layer, and he seems to have done just that. It’s probably either Blackpool Branches or Northern Transpennine (or is the 47 part of anything else?), and then the substitution is perhaps set up to use the best version of the loco available (mine used the Blackpool version when I saw it in Free Roam).
