Get ready for a brand new look at a UK classic with the East Coastway Remastered, coming as a free update to all existing owners, and arriving alongside the release of Rivet Games' Southern BR Class 171 & BR 377/3 on Thursday 26th February 2026!

Accompanying the East Coastway Remaster, this add-on includes two trains operated by Southern; the Class 171 (in /7 and /8 versions) and Class 377/3. This was originally announced in our October 2025 Roadmap and more recently with the February 2026 Roadmap, but if you missed it, here's what you can expect from Rivet's newest trains.

    The New: Southern Class 171 & 377/3
    Timetable & Layers
    [IMG]

Along with the 3 included scenarios, there will be 322 playable services included with these trains. Gen 8 players will have the same timetable as Gen 9 and PC players. Tyler from Rivet Games has given us the full timetable breakdown on what you can expect from the December 2017 - May 2018 setting.

Experience a new timetable built from scratch using the December 2017 - May 2018 Working Timetable. In the Add-on, you will find two identical versions included: one where the Seaford and Lewes services are operated by the Class 377/3 and the other operated by the Class 313.

    Services:
    • 322 playable included.
    • 376 playable with all layers.
    • 1,008 including AI services, with all layers.
    Compatible Layers:
    • Railhead Treatment Train
    • Brighton Main Line
    • Thameslink Class 700
    • Southeastern High Speed
    • Class 20
    • Class 86/2 (coaches only)
    • Tees Valley Line
    • ROG Class 37
    • Flying Scotsman
    • Class 33
    • Riviera Line (Class 150 AI)
    Southern BR Class 171
    [IMG]

The Class 171 is a variant of the Class 170 operated by Southern. The primary difference is the fitting of a Dellner coupler, rather than the usual BSI coupler, for emergency coupling to Southern's EMU fleet. Southern has shuffled around their 171s a bit, but since the timetable is set in 2017-2018, we are including the two-car 171/7 and the four-car 171/8 exclusively as part of this Add-on. Rivet have also made audio improvements which will be backported to Birmingham Cross City and Fife Circle Class 170s.

The Class 171 operates diesel services over the Marshlink line between Ore and Ashford International, connecting to Brighton. These stop only at Polegate and Lewes, except for the first service of the day which makes additional stops between Lewes and Brighton.

    BR Class 377/3
    [IMG]

Class 377/3 units were originally built as Class 375/3s for Connex South Eastern (later Southeastern), but 28 of them were transferred to Southern. Their designation was changed when they were transferred to reflect the fitting of DOO equipment, and their change to Dellner couplers (although the 375s would eventually get Dellners as well). They are formed of three carriages and are third-rail only.

The main difference between the 377/3 and the 377s already in TSW are the older headlight clusters, the interior, which is 2+2 seating throughout with First Class only on one end, and the number of cars is three instead of four. This change in formation also has the knock-on effect of performance feeling a little different, with one less motor coach than before.

Following community feedback during our earlier previews, our teams have made updates to the audio on the Class 377/3 to ensure this is accurate, and these will be available in a post-release update to the Add-on. We'll communicate when these changes are available via our community spaces and social channels.

Not something we were tracking/did intentionally and I think, judging by the other thread, we'd have had more complaints if we'd delayed it. :)

the 377 sounds not being updated is a bit of a dealbreaker for the 171 pack but the route still looks brilliant now, i’ll settle with subbing in the 377/4 but i do think dtg should try and sort out a deal that means ecw can have the improved electrostar sounds

You missed this in the article:

Looking forward to the remaster. Judging by what a difference the remaster made to GWE, this could be a real gamechanger and make me play a "forgotten" route again. On GWE it is day and night.

Will probably also pick up the Rivet pack as the original timetable does not have as much variety.

What does it matter?! It’s not just one day, it’s available for purchase anyway! I really don’t see the problem here… So many games are released on Steam every day that there will always be a game launching alongside another. DLCs aren’t even worth mentioning in that comparison.

Oh FFS, grow up and get a sense of humour. It was meant as a bit of irony/whimsy.

The article should be updated with the sounds being ported over to the WMR/XC/SCR being in a later patch. The article makes it sound like it's happening with the release tomorrow

They say the Southern Class 171 & 377/3 is coming out tomorrow but don’t hold your breath if you are wanting it on xbox from the Microsoft Store as it probably won’t appear until Friday at the earliest, as most new releases on xbox are difficult to find.

l normally type the title of the release like tomorrow l will look for Southern Class 171 & 377/3 if that doesn’t work l will then try Train Sim World 6 Southern Class 171 & 377/3
Thank you, if l have no luck typing Train Sim World 6 Southern Class 171 & 377/3, then l will ask copilot and if that works, thank you again for the advice as l always find it a headache when DTG don’t provide a link.

It’s the controller configuration. There’s an option for Classic or Immersion in the menus but some introductions, tutorials and scenarios require one or the other so there’s a prompt if you are on the other one. It shouldn’t affect most players as they are already using the Immersion controller setting anyway.

I appreciate the free remaster of the ECW, but these two reused trains leave me lukewarm. You can talk about variants and cosmetic changes, but to non- UK players, they look and play the same, as do all electrostars.

I might have bought the 171 by itself just to have some alternative diesel traction on a route I quite like. But I certainly don't need another electrostar, especially a second hand one.

So I'll save my $17 and wait for a sale. Half price would be about right. Shouldn't be too long.

If this dlc doesn't introduce blurring to the route, I'll be buying it.

Fun fact: I’m noticing a Thameslink Class 700 in the background of the Southern Class 171 & 377/3 DLC’s main marketing image. Is this the first time rolling stock from a different content pack than the DLC itself or its core route has showed up in such images? They always used to avoid it to prevent misunderstandings, I think this one may have slipped through accidentally (but it’s very minor, so whatever). ;)

Hopefully this will add a bit more congestion to the route, sometimes I wonder what activating the AWS ever achieves, it never goes off lol

Don’t think it’s common but I’ve noticed it before, such as the DRS 20 pack having a 390 on its main product art.

l think you are sensible and it should be 50% off by Christmas if not in the autumn sale.

If this was a Rivet route, l’d keep my money firmly in my pocket but l have never been disappointed with their locomotive releases so l will be buying this tomorrow although l have an Xbox gift card so only spending £2.99. Like you Crosstie, they leave me lukewarm too and l do think they could have released something better.
