East Coast Way Remaster Discussion Thread.

One word: Impressive.

An incredible well done to Liam for this remaster, like I said at the announcement of the remaster, it’s a route that has had the most longevity of any TSW route in my opinion, it was ours first “network” style route, I use that term loosely but it more than just end to end with both Seaford and Eastbourne branches. I just looked I’ve done 65 services on this route, so it’s certainly a well-played one. I can’t believe it was released in 2019.

Just the lighting alone, would have been a major improvement, typical I had a cloudy day on the live weather mod!

There are still a few bland bits, which were the same in the original. But the additional of the just additional vegetation makes all the difference, that’s before the addition of some other scenery assets. The campfire in my screenshot on the approach to Southease, that’s new and a nice touch! Particular highlights are the Newhaven area and around Bishopstone.

It’s like a new DLC!

Leaving Brighton:

One of the bland/emptier bits between Falmer and Lewes, but the lighting is much improved.

In fact, Tyler's old timetable (the free mod on TS Community) is compatible even with announcements, which is great

So if you're on PC but didn't buy the 171 and 377 pack but still want the layers, there's always this mod.

 

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but whenever I start a service or walk around Eastbourne, the tracks don't appear. They only reappear after the yard.

Most likely it's an incompatible mod.

I had to remove a mod that enabled TOD4 on alI routes because it was causing all the signals to turn red on GWE.

 

Its not actually a guard, its an onboard supervisor, they dont actually do the platform procedures like guards, the only exception for Southern is on the Diesel Services.

 

Has anyone else noticed on the 377, how the DSD pedal and the AWS button are still both bound to the "q" key, so you are unable to individually press them?

 

Now the update is live on Xbox, does anyone know if it’s getting blurry textures? Won’t get chance to take a look myself until later tonight.

 

So far so good not blurry with all layers on.

Just to confirm I had a 1.9gb download on Steam.... In timetable mode I still just have ECW 2020 and ECW 2020 (Class 313) which I think is what I had before the remaster is that correct?

Daft question - I don't know that neck of the woods at all - are the announcements correct? I notice Glynde is pronounced "Glin-duh" and Lewes is "Lew-is"... is that correct? Always thought they were "Glinde" (rhymes with "bind") and "Lewz" (like "fuse"). No idea though. Perhaps it's time I visited - looks like a nice part of the world now

Yed thats correct the 171 pack adds another 2 timetables.

 

I cant remember the 313 only do Brighton to seaford.

 

And for those who use Jetwash's excellent lighting mod, change to a ToD4 preset.

Why would you need different keys. Is that not how it works on every train?

No. The AWS button and the DSD Pedal are completely separate things.

 

They’re separate systems but acknowledging them has always been bound to the same key.

Yes but in game you use the same button to acknowledge both

 

Just got the update on PS5. Is there meant to be Thameslink services at Brighton and platform announcements? Or are they only added if you buy 171/377 pack? Still looks quite bare to me.

 

You only get the extra stock on the two new timetables if you buy the 171 pack. But still have to own the relevant dlcs.

 

In the PC versions of most trains you can allocate separate buttons for AWS and Vigilance / DSD but in the original version of the 377/4 you can't. I've got AWS on 'Q' and Vigilance on 'E' having substituted 'Shift + E' for the default use of 'E'.

You get the remastered route upgraded features etc new timetable will come with the 171/377 pack which you buy iiric

 

That’s due to a mod you have installed. Just like the GWR revamp you need to remove mods. The mods need to be updated by the author of said mod to work with the remaster.

 

No its not due to a mod im on xbox no mods and its like that.

 

Others don’t have the same issue can you post a picture showing how it looks for you on Xbox please.

Apart from the open shed at Brighton and work at Eastbourne, I don't see many changes scenery-wise, but it looks so much nice with TOD4 lighting.

Are there any before and after pics anywhere? Would love to see the scenery comparisons.

Watching The British Ace's stream for the 171 last night, one nice touch for the remaster, is they've now modelled the tracks for the Eastbourne Miniature Railway that is located just beyond Hampden Park station towards Eastbourne.

 

this was the first thing i looked for when i was going past that area and its a good improvement on the mud track it used to be. many fond memories of that place

 

Been using the remaster today with only the partially missing rails at Brighton station noted as an issue.


Now just purchased the 171 add-on and keep getting a crash to desktop when around the Brighton station area..... Usually either just after starting to move or when in the station throat area. Happens with the 377/3 and 171.

And another crash to desktop with the 171/8 at Brighton this time before even moving off.


All mods removed after those previous crashes to test further so this is now with a totally vanilla install.

Yes, it’s a free upgrade so I should be grateful for that. Just a bit miffed that the 387/700s are missing from the base remaster, as I already own those DLCs.

 

I also lack all station announcements (free remaster). So far, I haven't heard any announcements on the platforms on the Brighton - Lewes section.

Playing on Xbox and not experienced one gameplay issue yet.

 

Me too, I went there quite afew times as a young kid, as well as kite flying and duck feeding at Hampden Park.

 

Do you have a nVidia gpu? Did you upgrade your drivers earlier today?

Same thing here. I'm on PS5 and did a small route and no track.

 

Done a couple of runs and great upgrade; looks nice with the updated lighting, 171 is a nice addition.. really like the unit anyway, so another routine / unit always gonnna be a win for me. Loving the additional stock through layers… really specifically seeing the Thameslink 700 at Brighton and Eastbourne; irrationally makes such a difference, and really hope they figure out a great outcome for BML remastered/ extended

 

Yes I do and no I didn't.

I'm still running the emergency patch drivers released last November after the Microsoft Win11 debacle. (Driver version 581.94).



But it is possibly sorted........ What had installed today was Microsoft's February Win11 update!!!!! I've uninstalled this and since then no crashes. Not sure why it was only occurring when using the 171/377 add-on though and not just in general in TSW.


I'll do some more test runs tomorrow and also add my mods back in tomorrow to confirm all still OK after uninstalling this months Win11 update.


Hopefully just another case of Microsoft strike again!!!!!
