If you forget how to drive something in TSW, what do you do? For example, I don't drive many German locomotives, so often when I decide a fancy a freight train, I realise I've forgotten how to drive it. In the past, I've gone back to the training centre to re-learn a loco, but nowadays I find my preferred way to re-learn a loco is to go and drive a scenario as the notifications are all there to help me. Just wondering if I'm the only one who does it this way or do others prefer this method as well?
Most locomotives look similar, often from the same family. Even if I rarely ride English ones, I still remember how to get them moving, because they're as simple as pie. The launch algorithm is always the same.
Never thought much of the training center, very basic/minimal introductions, so I rarely visit. For instance it usually doesn't provide details on safety systems. The scenarios often provide more cab and start-up guidance, so I pretty much agree with the OP.
Yes drive a scenario they walk you through all the controls and the training centre isn’t really needed.
I always do the training module with every new train I get. It's not always necessary, but it's a nice activity to begin with
I think the training is very basic on the trains and should be more in depth. And really show properly how to operate the train including safety systems.
i usually go onto youtube and find out what i’m doing wrong, if i can’t find anything on there then chatgpt knows what to do
I usually sit there and press all the buttons and switches trying to get it to work and then swearing when it doesn't lol
I just run a service, and look for buttons or switches, then I restart and do it quicker ... or I look for an advanced tutorial on youtube, there are many good creators showing setup with safety systems in detail... and for BR 101 Expert, I go over some parts of the manual to refresh
I didn't think that could be the case, and yet it is, indeed. It explained to me what that "high speed" switch was for on the Class 66. It's often more effective than a simple Google search.
this is my go-to guide : 1. master key or its equivalent 2. reverser 3. open doors, cos passengers take their sweet ....ing time 4. headlights + tail lights setup 5. whatever safety switches/breakers if it is a US diesel loco, "diesel switches" I do right before safety systems then it is just a matter of looking for switches/buttons
The class 805 had a really nice training module. They put in some real effort there, they should all be like that.
same sequence pretty much... the only difference being that you have to select method of power selection/throttle and you have quite a lot of safety switches... and a lot of beeps
Yeah, but that still throws me off after not playing it for a while, where most other trains are easier
Most of the time I do master key and reverser first so I can start the passenger loading sequence, to save time. After that, the safety systems. Sometimes I play with a keyboard attached (I play on PS5), then the sequence doesn't matter.
Usually, I google it or look at a Youtube video. Shoutout to Train Sim TV, who helped me remember where the Mater key goes on BR 313 yesterday.
I prefer to get the doors open and passengers loading first because sometimes the loading time is ridiculously tight.
I usually spawn on foot a number of minutes before the service for realism and time to set up and load up. It's cool, and it gives me more than 2 mins.
