It seems that since yesterdays update the destination displays on trains on (almost) all of my routes are no longer working. The displays all say 'Not in service' or are completely blank. Routes I checked include London Euston to Milton Keynes, Zwolle-Groningen, Morristown Line, Leipzig-Dresden and Frankfurt-Fulda.
i am experiencing the same problem. The BR 430 still shows the correct destinations, but the interior PIS Displays are not working anymore, they remain blank. Edit: Even the trains, where you can select the PIS yourself are impossible to change. Trying to change the PIS from "Nicht einsteigen" is not possible. Tried it in both the Loco and the Dosto cab car.
Hi nedjielvn Thanks for reporting that. But unfortunately, that's standard practice for DTG, because when they release updates, something else usually stops working. I think DTG is overwhelmed by TSW itself and no longer knows how to release updates without damaging something else. But as long as users keep buying the new DLCs, nothing will ever change.
Hello, I have the same issue! I was testing the game with/without mods, thinking there was some conflict. But apparently this was caused by an update? Tried the dutch route (Zwolle-Groningen), some german stock, no success. Also can't change the PIS myself in cab. Please fix! Edit: Bahnstrecke Leipzig-Dresden or Ludwigsbahn also bugged. I raised this issue on Reddit as well.
Brighton main line and ecml are broken as well. Figured it was the mods I installed or an issue with the particular service I picked but seems like it would be the update instead.
I'm very grateful to see this thread, since I was already going crazy and thought my TSW6 killed itself. I didn't even realize, that there was an update recently, but then again it makes me wonder, how this has been affected now. I really hope that DTG will fix this as soon as possible.
Getting this trouble as well since the last update, from what people on Discord are saying is that the core PIS manager has gotten broken by reverting the SEHS updates. Lets hope DTG don't sit on this problem for months on end like they do with most other bugs.
Good morning folks, We just wanted to let you know that we are aware of this issue and are currently looking into a fix. We will share wider news once we solved this issue and can release a patch for it. All the best, Jan
It's wild that reverting an accidentally pushed incomplete update to a single route has broken a gamewide system. I can only assume that something about the PIS systems in the game incorporated or called something central to SEHS that has been reset to a state that does not work? I recall working customer support for an MMORPG when they "fixed" a broken formula for one thing, and inadvertently broke a bunch of legacy game mechanics designed by devs no longer at the studio, which had utilised the fact that it was incorrectly giving a "2+2=5"-esque output in order to work correctly.
Thats not the cause of this issue. Those are 2 seperate things. I was aware of this issue before they revert SEHS.
I'd only had PIS issues on Glossop lately, though I did post about that one. Expected it was a route-specific thing since it was displaying a timetable but it in no way related to the actual trains stopping.
No i mean it was there between the release and revert. So since the update is released this problem with the PIS is there. Its not caused due the revert of SEHS
Curious, I hadn't noticed the most obvious one, the "Not in service" problem with the destination boards, between the two. I guess just a quirk of the locos I was driving in the interim, must have been ones without them. Which tracks, spent an awful lot of time driving the Krokodil.
I'm experiencing this too on almost all routes. Would be good to see this fixed quickly because it's a big hit to immersion having so many trains' PIS be useless at the moment.
How typical... I have a few days off and I bought a new add-on from DtG, so I want to play... but then DtG breaks something in the game. ;( By the time they fix it, my days off will be over, I'll uninstall TSW and forget about it again for many months. I just regret wasting my money. No wonder that with each new version of TSW I spend fewer and fewer hours in game, and my interest in the series has become completely episodic.
It seems that passengers only embark rather than disembark on some routes since the update. For example when using the SEHS and Suffragette Line.
For those on PC, you can try this temporary patch and see if it fixes the issue https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...0-pc-editor-creations/i7427-temporary-pis-fix
How embarrassing, customers had to fix the bug themselves, which a team of 179 professionals from Dovetail Games had been unable to deal with for over a week. I regret that my limited proficiency in English stops me from finding a sufficiently offensive insult to direct at DtG. Perhaps we should pay MJCKP instead of DtG?
I can’t help but agree with this… The entire QA system is just disastrous. Every change, no matter how simple, takes weeks to fix. It adds no value whatsoever. DTG really needs to find a different way to handle this by now. It slows us down so much in getting a good gameplay experience. There should be some kind of separate system that allows these kinds of bugs to bypass the QA process for faster resolution. Or, for example, one QA for new products and a separate one for emergencies. Fixes like these are tiny tasks, but everything gets bogged down in bureaucratic hassle.
Was about to say, it seems like every time they put their hands to the code they fix three extremely minor things and break two more. There has never been a shortage of third party unofficial mods for any game that add missing features, but when they feel like they need to step up and fix your damn game for you, it's shameful. And done for free, too.
The issue also seems to be affecting the Auto Announcements mod too. Since the update they are failing to announce on Mildmay and Goblin lines at least. Even the temp mod/patch doesn't get announcements working again but does bring the PIS back again.
They are perfectly happy with having the people who pay for their game be the ones to fix it. They have no issues with this dynamic. And the ‘fix one thing, break another thing’ is so damn tiring. It’s not unreasonable to expect a game developer to know how to make stable games that don’t fully rely on its community for a full experience.
And don’t forget you have to put a lot of blame on the so called beta testers with these issues as if they actually did some quality testing the issues would never make it to release.
We don't know how the production process works, and as I've read, it's "NOYB". So we don't know if it's the beta testers who are doing their job poorly or if it's the DtG management who doesn't care about the beta testers' reports. After all, reports from players are also ignored and immediately become “off the radar”. How can we know that reports from beta testers are not treated in the same way? Just look: six years ago we reported that GSM-R radios in BR Class 377 turn off by themselves while driving. And for six years not only has no one fixed it, but a week ago DtG released a brand new DLC with BR Class 377, and the six-year-old bug is still there! Now that's what you call “off the radar”!
Since we really don’t know the details of the beta testing process, I dont think it’s entirely fair to call their testing abilities into question. And I really don’t think it’s fair to blame them for DTG’s attitude towards fixing bugs. I think it’s more likely that they are indeed finding and reporting bugs but DTG either doesn’t care initially or just doesn’t consider them important enough to fix. Had the blurry texture issue been fixed when it was initially reported, for example, I don’t see a way it would have become this bad and affect this many players. They wait until minor glitches become game-breaking bugs. It’s completely baffling. They need to seriously rethink the way they go about fixing bugs. I don’t think they could come up with a more inefficient way if they tried.
Strange how that’s the part that would be “NOYB” when that’s one of the only times the community is directly involved with the development of a route and they’re otherwise very transparent with certain aspects of development. Occam’s razor. Laughable. I can’t believe we as a community settled for this LOVE.
