Am I the only one who thinks the car engine sounds in the game are from the early 20th century? For me, it breaks the immersion. When you're near a busy highway and hear sounds that are completely different from a modern cars.
That's never been a thing for me. I'm not out of the train enough to notice car sounds over the sound of my own engine. Further, where have you seen let alone heard an automobile from before 1950 in the game?
Personally it doesn't bother me, as the cars are one of the things I only see as distant scenery most of the time and even when I do see them close up the sounds are the least of my worries. However, I do find the modelling of cars interesting... The JT Mk2 Transit knock off is a firm favourite.
If this is the worst thing in the game to complain about, then the game must be in a pretty good state..... Oh wait...
Let's not complain about anything except critical problems that we know no one will fix. To make sure that nothing at all is fixed. Maybe the sound guys have nothing better to do. I gave them an idea. Damn, the logic of this forum. If you're complaining about bugs - why are you whining? If you're not complaining about bugs - why aren't you whining?
But seriously, Car sounds are at the bottom of the list. Especially considering most people drive the trains in the game rather than car-spotting
It’s a train simulator that lets you explore the railway environment. When you’re walking about a quiet railway station and there are either no trains, or a stationary electric train, then it is quite immersion jarring when a horrendous sounding car passes by.
Actually, pretty close to the game sounds. The people who create sounds for the game are can't help in fixing bugs with the safety systems, flying assets, clumsy configs, etc. But sometimes they're have some minutes. So why not fixing car sounds? Who cares about your comment? If you not interested, just ignore this topic.
Because we don't think they're broken? How about giving some in-game video to prove what you're talking about? I honestly have never thought "gee that car doesn't sound good enough."
This is not a task done within minutes. First, the sound team would need to get quality car sounds. Then they would need to implement it into every single route with a system allowing it to switch engine sounds for each era car. After that, they would submit it to the fully overloaded Q&A team. For last, putting it into a build, while having such low priority, would take it ages to release. Not a project done in minutes, but more like half a year. What do you think why bug fixes take forever all the time? Its not because of lazy devs, but rather limited time, budgets and time.
Im really down for a car overhaul. We had a passenger overhaul a while ago, changing their behaviour. We also have road surface overall with new road textures for new routes and remasters. We had a London bus overhaul too on a couple of routes, which will be the standard for future London content. We also had new water textures that apply to all routes. None of these were deemed priorities by certain commentators on here. I dont think I ever heard ' its not a river simulator...' but im sure some folks said that regarding DTG priorities. Cant see why we wont be getting a car overhaul at some point. It would be lovely. My main hope for traffic would be to improve animation so cars dont turn corners using hand brake turns. I think the main selling point of TSW compared to all other train games is its sense of immersion. Sometimes small things can interfere with that and can be a super easy fix. Like car sounds. I bet someone could do a mod in the meantime.
