Clsss 37 not moving breaks off 9 coaches. am I doing anything wrong it’s air breaks typicial For Mk1’s so it should be fine i’m a little bit stomped to why this is happening

Can the 37 really not pull nine coaches ?

Note Liverpool to Crewe mk1 set from the spirit of steam

going to try 6 coaches see if it will work

    Update:

just using other Mk1 stock has worked now using the WSR Mk1 coaches sort of unrealistic but hey i can now do Liverpool to crew in the class 37

It's curious, with a rake consisting of an Mk1 BG, an Mk2 aircon and 4 Mk3s, it runs fine, attaining 80mph with relative ease.
There must indeed be incompatibilities depending on the origin of the different coaches and the 37 version...

If the coaches are vacuum braked, you should set the Brake Selector Switch on the class 37 to Vacuum Brake - Passenger

I see this is a second train the OP has had issues trying to drive. He was having issues with the Flying Scotsman in another thread. It’s looking more like operator error rather than there being anything wrong with the game.

It's great that you found the solution ! ;)

The Athena's Mk1s are the only air braked ones we have so far btw.

Maybe a stupid question, but how do you tell if coaches are air or vacuum braked?

Climb out the loco and look at the couplings, if there is one big pipe attached then it's vacuum, if it's got two smaller pipes (one yellow ended one red ended) then it's air.

Don't know if there are any vacuum-braked Mk2s (don't think so), but on Mk1s, it's written on the end side of the coaches (bottom left), for example "vacuum braked steam heated", or "dual braked dual heated", etc.

Early Mk2s were dual braked, later models were air only. As DMY says, they do say on the coach-ends to say what is fitted, if the stock is already attached to the loco then take a look down there and see what's hooked up. Speaking from experience driving in preservation (where we do have a lot of dual braked stock) we will ask the guard what we're running on before going under and tying on :)
