Well yes maybe I was taking more from the night lighting than was actually there. Sadly I just think TSW's use of UE4 lacks the capability to do much better. As you know I'm fairly vocal about the lack of ambient light aka pollution or even the illumination provider by a full moon. Guess we will find out for sure next Tuesday.

Said it many times, there needs to be a slider for those of us who would prefer a slightly lighter night to make it so. Those who prefer pitch black can retain the option to run the route like an old text based sim.

And without flogging the horse, still no answer from DTG or the devs about the pedestrian incursions at stations.

I would like to know this as well. It was one thing in the stream that really bothered me. And whether by accident or design Matt moved the camera at that point so we didn't see anyone get run over. But it looked like they were still moving around the track.

Also slightly concerned about the road crossing. There were a couple of instances where a car made a very last minute dash in front of the train.

Indeed. I cannot in all honesty support a route where even if there are no injuries or gore depicted, people are walking in the path of trains. They need to go back in and fix this before release even if that means postponing it.

I already pinged Matt who hasn't responded so DTG Harry can we have an assurance this is being addressed as a matter of urgency please.

I don't believe this will happen... it's a common occurrence in the Czech Republic, every now and then there's an emergency on the railway, someone gets run over by a train... unfortunately

Isn't pedestrian behaviour more of a core thing though? I don't think we have many routes where passengers have to cross the tracks like this rather than use an over or underpass. Maybe Niddertalbahn or Mittenwaldbahn

Yes, such unfortunate accidents happen everywhere.

But there's no need to depict them in the game!!

Nothing to do with Czech railways however. Just the lack of attention towards NPC behavior on the part of the developers.

Although we may be dismayed by such depictions, surprisingly the railway operators don't seem to mind, or at least they're not publicly complaining.

I would say virtual passengers get into trains' path less often than real ppl :D (sorry for this kind of black joke :D )

It happens on every railway network in the world. And yes we know countries like Czech Republic are more laid back as to how and where passengers can cross the line between platforms, but in real life all but someone intent on harming themselves would stand back when a train is moving or about to move.

Sadly still silence from DTG on the matter…

Well I’m surprised this one wasn’t picked up during beta and play testing. Surely enough railway experienced people are involved with the process to throw up a red flag. And this doesn’t look like the normal passengers spilling on to the track as we have seen on routes such as WCMLS or Goblin Line. This looks as if people spawners are specifically set up to emulate passengers crossing the line at these particular locations.

Well, I think it looks brilliant. Above all, it seems fresh and different, not more of the same; and compared to the Dutch route the scnery is varied and interesting. And the sounds! Obviously Vector found an outstanding audio engineer.

I think the Mittenwaldbahn line has a similar solution for passenger crossings to the platforms... I just don't remember if there were similar problems with the movement of passengers in front of the train?

Passenger behaviour is not real people walking in front of a moving train. This is a game, not real life. It’s not that serious.

On a side note, this route looks insanely detailed and authentic. I have high hopes that this new chapter is the path way for more future Czech content. Bring it on!

Maybe not but at best it is aesthetically distasteful and could prove upsetting to anyone playing the game who has been involved in or witnessed this type of incident IRL. I am actually quite astonished by the seeming complacency of DTG and some of the players over the issue, particularly as this doesn’t look like the usual core issue but a deliberate passenger path set up at the stations.

It would be the best if passengers stop crossing the tracks when the train use horn. Because for example in the beginning of the second service it is great to see people crossing the track in front of the train - it is a real situation in Turnov (and many other stations). But a few seconds before the train starts moving the driver must use a whistle and people of course don't cross the track anymore.

I really hate it when passengers walk or drive into the path of trains. It doesn't really upset me as it's just a game, but it does totally ruin any immersion and it's enough to stop me playing a route if it happens regularly.

The idea of blowing the horn to stop them crossing the tracks is a good one. Maybe something like that is implemented and just wasn't shown in the stream. If not then I won't be buying.

I still think the Devs have done an amazing job. But I'd rather have passengers not cross the tracks at all than be forced to run them down.

That would actually be quite a good solution and perhaps what was originally intended, but I guess TSW just isn’t sophisticated enough to implement such a feature.

Yes I’m mulling over whether or not to buy now. Not so much the issue itself but the complete silence from DTG. I mean the occurrences on Goblin and WCMLS are due to deviant (!) passenger spawning and were after the fact. Here it seems to have been set up to emulate how passengers cross between platforms at rural stations without a footbridge or subway, but no thought as to how this interlocks with train movements.

I mean, I’m made of quite stern stuff, been on several trains involved in fatalities (including one where I assisted the train crew) It was at one stage a several times a week occurrence in the Western Route Control with the NRN emergency (particularly London area) and latterly the GSM-R emergency call to the signaller repeating with drivers reporting having just struck someone. But that doesn’t mean even a benign representation in the game is welcome.

Cows on the Mittenwaldbahn route reacts to the players horn.
