Ok, I already had the 2 older routes included in the bundle, but Steam store said if I buy it the NYC Stamford is still 10% off. So, a back door discount.
Not related to the route in question, but as a new buyer of dlc on steam I can’t say I’m that impressed. SEHS & BCC at £11.99. I’m sure I saw these routes at £4.99 or maybe slightly more expensive during the Christmas/New year sales. They really should be £4.99 at this point. WCMLS is £5.99, it makes no sense. I picked up WCMLS & The Pendolino, also the Surrogate line, Bakerloo and the Harlem Line. Even buying the Bakerloo at £9.99 hurt my feelings.
It is normal on Steam. I bought Total War WH3 with a 75% discount on the bundle, even though I had two previous games in my library. So, I bought one game with a 75% discount, instead of 40% discount on the game itself.
From the feedback I’ve seen surrounding poor lighting, missing overhead wires and most importantly stuck services I’d need a far bigger discount than 10% in order to be tempted
There's also a screenshot just posted of the pantograph running above the contact wire. Think this might be worth a punt when it becomes the next freebie offer, but £33 - no thank you.
Not every route is discounted at the same time. Discounts come and go, that's the nature of sales. Those routes will probably be discounted further again in a future sale - for example, the Athena railtour pack was 50% off in a sale last year, not as big a discount in the Winter Sale, now back to 50% off in the Spring Sale (still not enough for me to buy it, given its issues, though!!).
If you rely on discounts as a factor in purchasing a route, patience is key. The timing and scope of discounts vary massively (even more so across platforms), so it's basically a waiting game.
I don’t understand how SEHS can be £11.99, but if you buy TSW2 with SEHS included it’s £14.99. Anyways, that’s what I opted for in the end, plus you gain the two extra core routes. SKA is nice added bonus also
The TSW2 Version of SHSE does not include Class 465, it was a seperate DLC. However I assume it's automatically added when SEHS is transferred to TSW6, is it?
I found another funny thing: I only own the free TSW6 so far. Now I can get the German, UK or US-Bundle for CHF 38.85 each. That would include the respective country route plus it's loco add-on. But I can also get the Deluxe Bundle that includes all the three bundles and that would be CHF 35.59. Wait which one should I get?
True. I just meant: if you buy the old SEHS with TSW2, will it upgrade for free to SEHS extended in later versions? (I don't believe so).
I had it for TSW2 and that is how I kept it until today. It's being automatically upgraded to the next version of TSW year after year.
Don't forget the Steam Rail Fest in a few months. I don't doubt DTG have a bunch of DLCs lined up for that.
