I would like to raise two additional routes for consideration (apologies if people have already raised them) 1 - WCML Milton Keynes to Birmingham New Street. I know 'not another wcml' but it is the most common section and would take in places like Coventry and Birmingham International, and would further complete, in my opinion an important missing section. 2 - This is one i think is bery under the radar and should be added, ECML Peterborough down to Kings Cross. It would add a significant section and would take on several train operators and one i think is really missing a trick by not being a route yet. 3 - this one is a cheeky one really but the West midlands train line from Worcester through snow hill moor street and on towards Solihull. Some food for thought but there must certainly be appetite for ECML? Think this would really sell and surely worth consideration.
ECML needs a Deltic Class 55 for railtours. Also, more freight locos and rolling stock are needed. We are getting a Class 70 soon, which is great.
I'm really liking how the calls for a Deltic are growing louder. They are the king of British diesels. They sound amazing, they look amazing, they performed amazingly and traveling on the ECML hasn't been the same since they retired. Eastern Region did all they could to make a case for keeping them but the suits at Euston House were notoriously myopic if there was a chance to save a few quid.
