Just read a post on FB claiming to get TSW trains into Sodor, all you need to do is copy the relevant pak file across from your TSW install to the Sodor one (presumably this is PC only). Not sure how you can then use them in WOS, presumably free roam and does the game have the equivalent to scenario planner? Can’t test this myself as I don’t own Sodor and the notion hasn’t been peer reviewed. However if it is feasible could be a path to enjoying the Sodor world without having to use the simplified TTTE stuff. Something DTG should even consider formalising as if I could run the Sodor route with proper trains it might encourage a purchase.
Yes, it's a case of dropping the relevant .pak files into the Paks or DLC folders. This works for individual locomotives and for routes, so you can for example import all the locos and consists bundled with Spirit of Steam or Peak Forest. Haven't been able to get it to work the other way though, I can get the Thomas stock and consists into TSW but the game crashes as soon as you place them on the track, presumably a missing core component... JB
Just watched the RichyRail video where he experiments with different trains. The Voyager didn’t like it and anything electric has to be dragged by the ROG 37 but definitely looks to be a thing. Let’s hope DTG don’t try and put any barriers in place, as I said this might encourage me to buy the game at some point.
You have the option of using Foob's GodMode which he's updated to support WoS. I haven't specifically tried setting the track power to electric, but presumably it should work? JB
Almost all TSW locos work. (The 171 is a notable exception. It crashes the game for some reason) Caveats are the throttle and brakes need to be manually done on screen. Keybinds won't work. (Independent brake yes, because it's not the main train brake) Also if you go to external view it sometimes stops allowing interaction with the controls....any controls... in the cab. Throttle, brake, doors, windows.... you just can't click on anything. SOMETIMES clicking back and forth among the different external views works.. sometimes not. I'm not honestly sure if this is an issue with the TSW content or Sodor itself because that was happening in Sodor prior to me trying to import any TSW locos. It may be a Sodor issue.
I beg to differ Self-quote to explain how I achieved it: Unfortunately with the TGV I was unable to set a path using the map view, although I had no such issue with the other engines I tried. And since WoS is designed for simple controls, TSW stock / units tend to go buggy after a bit of driving. Cases encountered so far include Flying Scotsman losing all keyboard and cab controls after about a mile, and the Class 47's AWS acknowledgement needing to be done via the cab button (even though there's a keybind for alerter acknowledgement). I'll carry on messing around as it's a bit of fun, but not really that playable which is fair enough I suppose Anyway, here's the best I could do to get a shot of Henry, Donald and Douglas with a few of their friends (just imagine the 4Fs are 812s, OK?). Sadly I couldn't get Daunt59's lovely 57XX to spawn in the game as a stand-in for Duck.
From what I have seen not all works, and some cause the game to crash, I'm a great believer of just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
That's more a line of advice for things like "drinking and driving", or "trying to contact isolated tribes", not "adding a few files to a game to see if it works", a game crash is hardly worth discouraging people from trying.
