Not long to wait now… Clear the decks, finish up any other saved games, Railroader back on the digital shelf etc. Strange how I’m so pumped for an Electrostar route but, well, these are hopefully going to be super duper much improved Electrostars and having rewatched the Medway Crompton cab ride (albeit set in a slightly earlier era) at the weekend, the route itself promises to be a gorgeous driving experience. One handle Vern is waiting at Paddock Wood, driver’s key in hand.
Im looking forward to it looks great but dont know much about it. What kind of route would compare it too is fast or slow or abit or both.
Think the maximum speed on the MV itself is 70 MPH, Fawx or Jetwash can confirm, hard to compare with anything we already have in the game but maybe an electrified and all double track Blackpool branches. Or West Somerset again with double track and faster running. Some of the stations are far enough apart to give a decent intermediate run so it’s a bit more than a bus service!
Splitting hairs possibly but that 100mph section is not the Medway Valley Line, it's a small section of the Kent Mainline. So Vern is technically correct because the MVL is 70mph max, but so are you because the MVL service uses a bit of the mainline.
They are (I assume) train movements that exist IRL. If they were omitted, there'd be people complaining about that. Who'd be a developer, eh?
Well, purchasing a route populated by one handled Electrostars is not a " Road to Damascus" moment for me. I'm buying it because of the provenance ( Firefly ). This is not the kind of route I would normally buy but I've a feeling that these guys have put together something special. I'm counting on it.
"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a 375, no escape from reality Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see I'm just a one handle boy, I need no sympathy Because it's easy stop, easy go" With apologies to the late Mr Mercury. Kind of hoping these guys will be up there alongside if not ahead of JT with this - no pressure!
Will we be able to get a preview of this route on xbox on stream, not even a full run just would be good to see the optimisations you guys have done in full swing
I'm going to support this release and Firefly. Yes it's more of Kent and it's not a line that at first glance excited me. However, this route in TSC is actually a lovely drive. Stations with real character a nice mix of SE England countryside and urban landscapes and some realistic end-to-end runs. The preview screenshots look really good too.
Yes it’s tomorrow I think. For some reason I’d got it in my head the release was today but it’s actually Thursday. D’oh.
Hoping for depot runs to Gillingham on this. I genuinely think this route may become one of those (like Brighton to London) that I'll just enjoy driving up and down with the odd run to the depot either ECS or as a passenger from Strood. Hoping one day they'll be an opportunity to route hop at Gravesend to Tilbury on the north side of the Thames and enjoy driving on the north side of the estuary too.
Probably been asked and answered, but the thread is so long....... Has someone checked and verified that the stock is all Raildriver compatible?
British Ace has three videos lined-up later this evening, so I am more interested in what he has to say, than the heavily curated DTG official script. I know he's a DTG ambassador, but he's one of the few I trust.
Just a note, this is why if it doesn't come from DTG staff, you probably shouldn't believe it. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused, but the stream is going well, and the preview is wonderful.
Thank you to DTG staff for confirming. I'll watch Some of the posts above the staff ones haven't aged very well have they?
Is logging into the GSMR radio required to drive the train? I ask because that’s the impression I got from the start of the live stream.
In my view most the announcements so far have sounded too clean, much prefer a bit of fuzziness, more realistic.
looks like my ‘joke’ didn’t really come across well which is fair enough. it’s been one of those days where nothings gone right so i apologise to anyone who i confused. putting that to one side, this route looks absolutely fabulous and the attention to detail is so obvious, the optimisation work seems to have made a big difference too. well done to everyone involved, this is already looking like JT and AABS level work
Strood to Tonbridge is 26 miles, plus the 13 miles from Rainham to Gravesend making 39 miles of track in total
Only seen it played on PC, I am PRAYING for a somewhat smooth experience on the Xbox. Every release, console has suffered but given who's developing this route, I have my hopes set high. The route looks absolutely stunning!
I have a niggling feeling this route will be a blurry mess like Birmingham to Crewe is on console. I really hope I'm proven wrong
Well this route is apparently made with the fixes for that issue, so for me it’ll be a test of whether TSW has a future or not, on console.
