We finally have accessible toilets in the game Now they just need to be constantly out of service to be realistic.
Random failures should now include "passenger who didn't read the instructions properly and the door opens to them sat on the throne or resplendently mid-wipe as they forgot to press the all-important 'Lock' button"
When you work with trains everyday, it's a shock when the guard you are relieving says toilets are working!!!
So what’s the point of it? I’ve never seen this as a relevant future. Nice, but not very special, I think. Its a gimmick nothing more and nothing to expect in the future
Between this and the Class 86/87 and general station toilets on Shap, we’ve truly reached a golden age of train simming.
I certainly won’t be the one to poo poo this, it’s a relief at last. I just wish we could lift up the seat to see the almighty turd that couldn’t flush, now that would be the ultimate in realism!
When I read that I couldn’t help but think of that one episode from Still game when Big Innes leaves a big tree trunk turd sticking out Isa’s toilet. Oh the horror it would be to see something that unearthly on a train with lots of people on board.
Technically 9 glorious years since TSW CSX-Heavy Haul was first released (16th March 2017) not including the CSX-HH beta (8th December 2016 - 21st December 2016) (no apologies for nerdiness, I wouldn't be on these forums if I wasn't) Can't remember if the toilets in the CSX locos' noses were modelled.
I mean it’s unlikely to happen for reasons far besides PEGI. That being said it does make one wonder if a turd really would prevent a game from being rated 3+ or whatever TSW has. Anyway, yeah good job on the toilet. In a way it really symbolises the DLC, since it’s done a lot of things well, that TSW has struggled with upto now.
Working toilets also introduces the possibility of the driver having to go back and check the passcom, when someone mistakes it for the flush or one of the door buttons. Or passenger gets stuck in there and needs the door opening from the outside.
Well your EP and others at DTG have told us just the opposite for several years. PS4 players have supported TSW from the beginning. But hey, have it your way. Let the jeering begin.
JT can't be happy they let one of the first toilet placement opportunities slip through their fingers. I'm expecting the first enterable portaloo to be in CrewePreston now at the very least.
Seems the forum is obsessed with toilets. Hmm, and here's me thinking it was trains. How wrong could I be.
Crosstie isn’t wrong though, it’s abit…distasteful from a DTG employee, when DTG are the ones knowingly selling their product onto a platform which can’t really run it. Say what you like abit gen8 in terms of holding the game back now, but gen8 is likely no small part of the reason why we have the sort of content output we see today.
It was a joke... I work as a guard, the toilets being out of order is usually the norm if the train has stabled over night. This is why I created this thread as it made me laugh!
I hope I can follow my hand washing routine when I take a break between ticket collecting on conductor mode! /s Rode the new Acela the other day. The amount of riders confused by the buttons, especially the lock button, was high. Also half of them were already out of order. Brand new train and the toilets still don’t all work.
even as a joke, is it really the best look for a staff member of DTG to be taking the mickey out of their community. that comment alone will be enough for some on the forums to see it as "confirmation" and theyll run with it. joke or no joke, its a lottle bit distasteful.
I am clearly in the minority here but WHAT THE ACTUAL [insert expletive of choixe] what is the obsession with a modelled toilet? It’s a train sim I’m here to drive trains. I spend 99% of my time in cab so it improves my experience by about 0.0000000001%
Not my experience tbh, I’d go far as say one of the most polished routes to come out ever and it seems most of the community would disagree with you as well. What platform are you on?
Just ignore my comment, I just don’t get the love for toilets The route looks and sounds great. Just don’t tell anyone if you find a big or you’ll get mobbed
Again I’d disagree, Firefly team had been all over the forums gathering feedback and helping resolve issues (mostly mod related conflicts), it’s a breathe of fresh air when a dev is active without being defensive on these forums these days
It was just a running joke, really. Someone would always ask on a preview stream if the toilets would work. Given that Firefly are actually members of the community, they've decided to finally make the joke come true.
That's exactly what it was, a little nod to TSW's history. Richard and I have been in touch on DM and all is good. Remember sometimes people have other stuff going on in their lives that can make things seem bigger than they are. It's done with so let's move on.
Because, although chronologically the forum is wide- ranging, the mental/emotional average age is about 10.
So for me, it's not really about "HAR HAR TOILET THATS FUNNY" it's about, well we can model that, so why not? Same reason we have working cab levers, the track monitor camera, the seat adjustment. The different voices for the GSM-R. I play a lot of flightsims, I love when you can open the cockpit window, move the arm rests, even the window blinds in the passenger cabin. Do any of these serve a gameplay purpose? No. But by them being interactable it increases the overall immersion of the experience. It's the same reason I love when trains model the engine/machine rooms.
I wonder if those that are unhappy about people being happy about the toilet, see the irony in that complaint.
Are you really suggesting that the inclusion of a working toilet is on the same level as the engine room, window blinds and seat height adjustment? What element of immersion does it actually enhance? I'm pretty sure there was some other immersive cab function that you may have considered but rejected in favor of a loo. Looks like a lot of memory was used. Take a read of some of the distasteful responses on this thread. What's next? A working model of human waste disposal on the 375.
