Have you found the other bench where you can sit and watch the world (and the trains!) go by?

You'd only use OVER and OUT when on an emergency call.

On this one, we went for a mixed approach. Some are chatty, some are formal. I don’t need to tell you that the feedback we had from various people in the know was initially they were too chatty, then they were too formal, then they were too chatty again.

As far as I know there is no formal communication layout for railway communications, so I used as much resource as I could find with input from current drivers on the route to try and find a balance. As I’m finding out once again in life you can please some of the people some of the time, but you certainly cannot please all of the people all of time :)

I will not be remaking the voices for MVL again as life is too short, but I will happily take on feedback for future projects. The GSM-R is here to stay and we look to only grow its usage and functionality.

I would absolutely love for you to have a scenario when the signaller stops you, to warn you about someone on a bridge... IYKYK....

The voices are a nice touch and it’s a very well thought out idea.

My comment about the use of ‘signalling centre’ to describe a ‘box’ is just tongue in cheek observation.

You know, I used centre because I’m sure I heard it in a video. It might not have related to Aylesford specifically though to be fair, I’ve clearly bigged it up more than was necessary

You can also see the signal numbers on the in-game interactive map :)

I won’t be anymore specific than it is north, rather than south, of Aylesford.

Nonsense. Rivet no longer produce route dlc under their own name so bad has the quality of their work been in the past. Matched only by their inability to go back and fix bugs such as on WCL to name just one.
Conduct a poll amongst TSW players and I’d wager that they would fare pretty badly in the popularity stakes.
You may like defending the indefensible but the realists here will know exactly what I am saying. No smoke without a fire.

Both the Birmingham Cross-City 170 pack and the East Coast Way 171 and 377/3 pack are sold under Rivet Games' name

I meant ROUTE dlc. They’ve had routes taken away from them completely,

Surely we should be using this thread to celebrate Firefly's excellent work not bashing other developers. There is room for plenty and all offer something different.

Riviera was apparently Rivets work and there is little wrong with that in my opinion.

Anyway I have a rare quiet Saturday ahead so I will be getting to know this route intimately.

Centre would tend to be used with the IECC and ROC whereas something open Aylesford or Oxted or Dorking etc they just refer to themselves as the signaller at [location]

I do very much enjoy the enhanced GSM-R stuff. I think it’s a great idea. What’s needed for the true authentic experience is to arrive at a red, press SG get the signal cleared and then a minute later receive ‘wait’ on the display!

Oh it’s a nice bit of fun and a lovely touch. However having worked on the safety critical side of things, even eight years retired this year, it kind of sticks in the mind as voice comms were almost obsessively and continuously assessed. So no matter how hard you try, almost inevitably trip up on a minor, even pedantic point.

Of course if you ever played Run 8, the text responses that John Greenstone keyed in for when you contact the DS in SP mode can be even more scathing and withering! “It’s only a red signal. It won’t hurt you”, etc etc.

kinda off topic, but in Facebook community page (one of em) there was a mention of 375 in this route being "expert"... have I missed sth in the articles or preview? ... or is this just some unit/train that happens to have some features other units dont, like GSM-R? ... cos as far as I know, there are only two expert locos in the game atm, 101 and 145

there is Vectron and the Czech stuff that happens to be more advanced, of course

It's pretty close to be fair. We tied certain elements to the expert toggle, largely at DTG's request, to allow players to play with the vanilla train as well should they wish.

You need to have Expert mode enabled in game settings to use the full GSM-R features, as I found out last night! A couple of other functions also require it, explained in the manual.

Those are not our trains and adding announcements to them is outside the scope of what we were looking to achieve.

If you not own the cargo line packs, is there still freight on this route?

I haven’t got CL2 but still saw a Class 66 hauled freight at Strood. However as CL2 is dirt cheap in the current Steam sale, will probably add it later for completion.

ah ok, thanks for clarification :) ... will definitely check the manual, as I wont be playing this route now - not that I wouldnt want to... but I already spent significant money (for me) for Liberec - Stara Paka and NEC routes :) ... once I get some free funds, this will definitely land in my Steam cart :)

There is a layer for ‘misc freight’ and another for ‘static freight’ provided by SEHS, so you’ll need that route at least. Not sure how many services that totals but it seems to be the only way to get static wagons.

That's more than fair. Most have no communications at all, so people complaining over "radio procedures" are just pushing to see how much they can get. They're already spoiled kid son Christmas right now, don't spoil them further! ;-)

Thanks, I have SEHS. In the release article I only see services with the Cargo Line packs and light loco services:

    • Cargo Line 1 Petroleum services running Heathrow Aviation Fuel trains (5 services)
    • Cargo Line 2 Aggregate services (7 services)
    • Light engine Class 66 movements (4 services)

I simply find I don't have time to get to all the new content, so while pretty this route goes on the wish list for later. I just can't even get to all the other March release content, so there's no point in buying it now. This was my concern for DTG releasing so much all at once. A lot of it will get less sales because people are already broke or busy playing with their other toys =-) For me it works because it'll likely be on sale by the time I get around to it so win-win, but for the developer that's less ore lucrative "first day" sales.
It may not be a "DTG" strategy as such.
It may just be how things shake out.
Projects are done when they're done, especially with third parties and they want to get it on the market to start making money back.
It still means the later routes get undermined by earlier releases, intentional or not.

Just wondering if anyone else has slight issues with signal sighting from distance? - closer range they are great but from afar I can't quite make them out. Maybe it's my setup. But a minor thing really, still joint best route for me so far.

I’m currently mid-run, but once I’m finished I’ll turn off the layers & see how many services I get with just SEHS active.

Got to play a couple runs last night and it's really a great route and you can definitely see the time and effort they put into it. Scenery and sounds are fantastic and the overall lighting is wonderful. The additional touches like the GSM-R setup and the AI guard are very nice.

Probably a little too sleepy for me to drive all the time but very much looking forward to Firefly's next project- they have certainly set a high bar!

My only negative is no announcements for the 465 and 700. Just seems like it was the perfect time to add them, and with Firefly going above and beyond with their efforts, it's a shame to see DTG doing the bare minimum once again. Come on ya'll!

We will update the manual with this information but in the meantime, for the GSM-R here is my own little note for starting signal numbers. Remember it’s only the last three digits you enter after inputting the headcode.

    Starting signals

    Rochester Platform 2 - 4059
    Strood - 487
    Tonbridge Platform 2 - 159
    Paddock Wood Platform 1 - 190
    Rainham Platform 1 - 1460

So without any CL or the RHTT pack, the only freight runs are 4 light loco runs (2 between Tonbridge & Hoo, 2 between Tonbridge & Gravesend [guessing 1 of each in both directions]). There was also no static stock (at least at Hoo yard).

It seems the in game layer menu isn’t accurate, as both misc freight & static freight show as only being SEHS layers, yet removing both RHTT & CL packs remove any freight runs & also static wagons (again at least at Hoo).

I did also remove the WCMLS HKA pack, so not sure if that’s a hidden dependency too.

Yeah the UI unfortunately often gets the DLC requirements wrong.

Thank for checking! I almost never drive freight trains, but like it for AI traffic and static stock, so a minor downside not having freight.

Yeah I’d have not thought it to be an issue aslong as the static wagons are there, but Hoo is a pretty big yard to have empty. The CL packs are definitely worth it though (well maybe all except nuclear), especially for the AI side of things - on this route you even get some rare double headed 66 runs.

Main reasons I never bought those packs are the blurry textures on console and I'm almost never drive freight. I was looking to buy at least one of those packs for GWE remaster, but I have already blurry textures when the WCML layer is enabled. So I hope DTG is gonna fix this very soon on all routes, you guys proved you can make a good performing route without blurry textures.

I just couldn't pass on Liberec- Stara Paka and Stamford, although Stamford has been more hit or miss for me. It's still a well made route, but just not as fun for me. LSP hit the spot. That whole rural, diesel single track vibe. Medway seems kinda rural too, but not as many freight options and I wanna get my money's worth out of Liberec and Stamford first.

Xbox Series X…plays like a dream, (no stutters/blurries !) it’s a work of art as much as a DLC, the level of attention to detail is above & beyond. The river craft even have Navigation Lights !!! Thank you. 289d72fa-20c0-4201-89c5-488705d071fa.jpeg IMG_0389.jpeg

We’re a bit baffled as to why, but it would appear that not all the layers are showing up for people even though they have them installed.

We believe that somehow a non-UK DLC is causing a conflict, particularly with the Scotsman. I have all my DLC installed and everything shows for me, but I don’t have all the latest German and US content. I believe therefore it must be a route published since TSW6 launched.

    If you have all the requisite content for the layers installed and they are not showing up for you like this;

    Screenshot (521).png

...could you please let us know which post TSW6 DLC you have installed? What on earth is causing this we don't know, but we think this is the cause and would like to rectify it as soon as is possible.

    Thanks

I have this view. 19/19 layers and a service count of 501. I only have the UK post TSW6 stuff installed. PS5.

…thanks Jet Wash, you & your colleagues have taken the game to another level, I have to declare that I have NO interest whatsoever in Southern EMU’s as I grew up in the Steam Age ! but I could (& am !) playing this all day ! Happy to support your work as it should be rewarded. Hell, if you’re next DLC was ‘Thomas & Friends go to Mercury’ I’d buy it !
