Hi Guys a quick update video explaining what we know currently and what we are doing to fix it as some of you know i am better at talking than writing so a video was a btter way for me to keep you guys in the loop and up to date
Truly gutted for you Alan that it didn’t go to plan BUT what means the most to us is that ATS is being transparent/accountable and proactive in finding a resolution, I don’t think in the history of TSW has anyone been as forthcoming and engaged as your team about things that didn’t go as planned. your teams work is still very enjoyable and when the time is right and those fixes are out I will likely have to do a ‘refresh on any other traction because I can only see myself running the 90 in the coming months as it is full of endless potential even recreating one of those early morning jobs from something like ‘Leeds to London’ with a Pullman in the small hours. We can only hope for accountability and reflection from DTG as to their part in this but when Rivet build their routes behind the scenes what can one expect… still the thought of the ‘DVT Dream’ being fulfilled one day as it’s more or less where I started all those years ago. I’m sure there are many that look forward to the future of TSW with ATS being involved.
This is the first time in a while that I regret buying a DLC. All the problems as stated above. WCLM S looks abandoned. The safety systems don’t work properly. What a mess. Oh and the sounds are absolutely awful. This needs fixing ASAP
Platform: Steam Route: All I'm not normally negative but this time i need to be. Sounds are awful, and incredibly loopy. Exterior textures and weathering look like it's out of TSC The train won't even move half the time, i can shunt it around but iI connect it to anything it just doesn't get traction, it tries and then stops, i can only get it to try again if I put the reverser to off and then back in. If you reset the train whilst the key is in, you've completely bricked it, it will no longer let you put the key in, you can move everyhting but as far as it is concerned it isnt active. If you reset it with the key out, you can put the key in, but cant move the reverser or any of the controls. The fact that there's THIS much feedback and it's some things that would have noticed within 30 seconds of testing is ALARMING.
It really does beg the question eh? Like anyone who can hear and has access to YouTube to find that excellent cabride from last page would be able to say 'these sounds are bad'. Just how? We go from the greatest DLC that TSW has ever had to a really bad one and its a shame because freight locos are something that TSW is sorely missing. Edit: I hope ATS are reading these posts because please just watch that cab video through, go run the AP 90 in TSC just to try to get the sound close at least, the cabride and the AP 90 sound like eachother while the TSW 90 doesn't.
Yep it’s so annoying. Im on XBox series X. Apart from that sound issue I like the CL.90 hopefully someone might construct. cL.50 as they seem to be quite prevalent on main line rail tours and goods services.
Hi Alan. Just watched your video - I appreciate the communication. I was another would-be day one purchaser that backed out as a consequence of the negative feedback. Based on your handling of the situation and keeping the community informed, I am optimistic that the Class 90 will become a great DLC. Your future plans for TSW content sound really exciting and I want to support you guys so as soon as the patches are out I will be purchasing this! I hope that sentiment can be of some encouragement during this stressful time you must be going through!
the problem for Alan is that it doesn't matter what fixes are made, they could make it perfect and iron out all the issues, the problem though Is DTG. It seems like DTG are anti-patch these days!
It costs them money to push updates. If Steam/PlayStation and Xbox would allow them to charge for updates, they'd be more regular...
thanks for the update… any indication on when the correct build for PlayStation is likely to be pushed live? Sounds like this and MVL are both in queue
Platform - PC / Steam Service/Scenario - free roam when spawning any class 90 loco , single or double headed Repeatability - every time i try to move the loco Issue is that when creating a class 90 and then going into the cab , turn on all safety (AWS , TPWS AND DSD) systems and then get in chair , turn master key and select direction loco wont take power at all Workaround - if i get in the chair first unlock master key and select to neutral then get up and enable all safety systems the issue is gone and train works fine however if you swap cabs on a double headed loco to then go the other direction all safety systems must be turned off in the rear cab otherwise again loco wont move , pretty unrealistic but its the best workaround i could currently find after messing around testing for a few hours
Thanks Alan Thomson for the clear and open communication. Looking forward to the patch and the Class 90 being rolled out to other routes. By the way, I cannot see the video directly embedded or linked in your post but rather had to search it on YouTube myself. Anyone else experiencing this issue, probably something with forum restrictions or so?
I understand this is low down the priority list currently but is it possible to address the low resolution textures. I understand the reasoning behind and I'm sure other solutions are being looked into, but is there any reason that the PC version also needs to be downgraded too, can't we get the original hig res textures?
And they're unable to have an additional package on PC that contains the higher res textures? I obviously don't know for sure but that seems like a self imposed limitation by DTG rather than anything actually in place on store fronts. Seems like a bizarre thing to do given that they have stated they don't want to hold anything back on account of console issues. Also not trying to sound like a snob here, I don't believe these issues are down to the consoles themselves but rather building on top of a fundamentally broken core. Just in the meantime, if sacrifices have to be made I can't wrap my head around why it's a universal thing.
Yeah I did see him mention releasing a mod which would act as a high res texture pack, but only after the current issues were fixed. I do find it odd they can’t do different builds between platforms, like series X has always been hamstrung by the series S & had to suffer the same draw distance limitation. Just another TSW quirk that likely only exists because of a rotten core.
Platform Steam Service/Scenario Free Roam - WCML Over Shap Loco-9Mk3s-Loco formation About 60 miles into the service traction completely cut out was unrecoverable. A complete reset of the loco did not work, resetting physics did not work, just a complete service breaker. Line power was being received, brakes fully released, panto up, safety systems (both on and off) not causing the issue. Shame because I seem to be one of the few absolutely loving the loco.
Is there any update yet as to when the patch will be released for the class 90? It's now 4 days since the original release and I thought by what has been said, the patch would have been released by now. Am looking forward to buying the class 90, but not until the patch is released. Please can we have an update. (Am using XBox series X)
As with all things DTG there will be no patch for this anytime soon. I don’t believe they’ve patched fixed the East Coastway yet with all its issues. They won’t release a patch for this anytime soon I bet. Even if ATS have done what they needed to do
Have to respond here as the Class 90 thread in GD remains locked down. Sad to say it seems like DTG are in complete disarray at the moment. Too many add ons (plus Sodor) in too short a space of time. Either waved through QA with issues that would shame a freeware author or wrong builds pushed to the platforms. And it’s now the Easter Holiday approaching so there seems little chance of much happening before the middle of next week.
Yup, plus the one update we have had is just adding more content which IMO isn’t needed right now. There are outstanding issues with many of the recent packs & updates that have been held since before those packs for previous content. Not sure why DTG seems so biased against releasing third party updates.
Given the timetable limitations, why didn’t ATS consider adding the locos as Railtour scenarios in other routes? I’ve just come from watching part of the DadRail stream where he intends to do a linked Ipswich to Crewe Railtour using the NLL, WCMLS and B2C. However the only way to do that is via Free Roam which means no AP for the loco or routes. Yes you could use Scenario Planner but at player level without any means to generate random traffic, it’s very basic. However the developer has the tools and skills, could have done something like this maybe even continuing with a bit of licence on to Shap. Noticed DadRail fell foul of the power loss bug though, obviously hadn’t read the forums about the set up procedures and issues!
I agree with you that free roam has a lot of potential (I mean spawning a train in a timetable), but for now, there are the limitations you mentioned (cannot give instructions except for path, no AP points). I think it could be great to be able to create scenarios within a timetable, that is, adding one or more services to an existing timetable (the player service plus possibly some others AI). Yes it could be tricky to do, with dispatching problems sometimes. But I liked TSC's QuickDrive, perhaps we could recapture the spirit of that mode !
hope to make the following improvements: 1,Reduce the sensitivity of the throttle 2,When the throttle from off to minimum position, the current increases too rapidly. Please slow down the rate of current increase 3,When applying the brake in traction mode, the current drops too quickly 4,The current of the throttle at minimum position is as high as 800A, which is too high. For reference, the current of Class87 is 400A 5,The sunshade of the front window blocks too much visible area, and I hope it can be raised a bit 6, The stains on the front window are too heavy. Could you please provide a version with a clean front window? Thank you
Really no need to apologize. you made a great product and you know where the flaws are and will be fixing them. And hopefully getting the 90 on other routes. What we need is quality like JT, Vector, ATS, aabs With the communication and bugfix promises from ATS With DTG doing the core, fixing core bugs and Rivet putting their swiss bus anywhere (j/k) A cActUsjUiCe doing signalling This train is great, i just needs to be on more routes (and bugs fixed ofc) TLDR: communicate! and great job Alan
It was encouraging to have someone stand up and take responsibility for once and not just mouth meaningless platitudes. I’d be more than happy to buy this when the issues are resolved… knowing that any other issues will be addressed and not swept under the carpet. We need more of this honesty. BTW what DLC have you done? [relative newbie to TSW]
ATS' other DLC for Train Sim World is the Manchester Airport commuter route, its actually a pretty solid Class 323 route and has some really fun layers for the Class 350 and Class 158 too
i litterally just did a run on the weekend timetable, and the signals as you diverge towards the airport are still showing red instead of yellow. if i didnt have track monitor on i wouldnt have known they were not actually red.
Thx very much. I don’t have that DLC yet but are those faulty signals on every route that passes that point or just on one or two specific routes? Has ATC indicated at all when a fix is to be released? I have the track monitor on but try to use it more for speed changes even though signals are highlighted.. so I presume that if you relied on the signals themselves, you’d be stuck ad infinitum. Given the issue can be ‘ignored’ with the track monitor in use, it’s still a good buy?
The turnout off of the styal line towards Manchester Airport, the three preceding signals show red on the physical signal despite showing yellow on track monitor, this happens on any service that goes to Manchester Airport (on any train you take from the menu, 350/158/323) As far as I can tell, any other pathing/signal works, it's just the junction off of the styal (from Picc) towards the airport. Shame too as it's been out for a long while now
Actually, yes. I think so at least. It has a solid Class 323 with a really enjoyable selection of service patterns, it has a really nice ~20 min class 350 layer and a really nice ~20 min class 158 layer. As well as some Pendo, voyager and 150/153 runs. imo 7.5/10 (9.5/10 if it gets the 90 as a layer)
Hey folks, Just so I don't need to type it all over again, I am linking what I said earlier here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/class-90-announced.94506/page-11#post-1108746 Summary: The blame game for a mistake that hurt everyone is very unproductive. DTG and ATS are focused on fixes and moving forward. We will update you when the fixes and any issues we've identified are resolved, and the build is ready to be sent as an update.
I don’t have to be productive as a customer thanks. DTG is absolutely to blame for releasing the wrong build, once again, which you’d have thought would had been learned from by now. This isn’t even the second or third time you’ve done this. I think we’re well beyond calling this an accident by now, let’s just call it what it is and that is organisational incompetence. In essence, you’re asking me to feel bad for you that I’ve paid £12.99 for something utterly useless and to thank you for taking weeks to rectify it? [EDIT - Jan - Insulting]
Yesterday I took the master key out of a 90 and couldn't get it back in again. Which is a shame as it took me ages to walk to willesden receptions from the nearest station spawn point. (Sometimes I like to meet the train on foot rather than spawn straight in)
So let me get this straight in my head, There shouldn’t be a blame game, but we’ll blame the customer for being unproductive?? Customers are now expected to be productive, sorry my employer can be expect me to be productive because they are compensating me for my time. A company has no business expecting a customer to be productive and quite frankly it’s insulting to even try and blame the customer in this way. Further more, this attitude of no one is to blame comes across as we don’t care and have no interest in finding out what’s happened or learning lessons from it, but given it’s not the first (or even the 10th) time it’s happened so guess that’s not a surprise
Sorry Candice but you’re very wide of the mark here. This is people’s money you’re dealing with here and so where the fault lies is very very important. Had Medway not come out when it did and been of the high quality it is then I’d have bid TSW farewell and uninstalled the lot. DTG has a lot of questions to answer, and i am sorry if you don’t want to hear it but I’m placing the blame firmly at DTGs door. It’s your simulator and you decide what does and doesn’t go with it and when. It’s alright for me, I have a well paid job and can afford to take a punt on things and Xbox have been very good at refunding me when something has turned out to be inferior. But you have people here who look forward to spending their money on something, they wait ages to it to release and then it doesn’t work and that isn’t right and it isn’t fair and for you to say we shouldn’t apportion blame for that is quite frankly appalling. In summary: you’re very very wide of the mark there candacedtg
Agreed its a solid route the 323 is well done and nice layering as well just a shame its a bit on the short side. Still plenty to do.
Its not unreasonable for us to blame DTG for putting out the wrong build. Because they have done it too many times now. And us the paying customers are get a little fed up now off buying a dlc with high hopes of being good. Only to realise its full of bugs and problems because DTG released the wrong build. And what else aynoys us is that it takes DTG weeks sometimes months to release the patch/update to fix it.
IF it even gets fixed at all. There is a LONG laundry list of bugs/issues that were supposed to be fixed or looked into, and even updates that arent patches but purely gameplay take forever to get to us. We still dont have the class 86 or 87 as AI on the blackpool branches, that was supposed to happen We still dont have the updated/fixed sounds for the scotrail class 170, thats been promised 4 times now to be coming There are several timetables that spawn you on foot instead of in a train (MAC, Shap, NTP to name a few) and not even spoken about anymore There is missing OLE at preston on the blackpool branches..... since launch.. There are broken signals on the MAC There are broken AWS magnets on birmingham to crewe Many services will derail on start i can go on, and i am sure i have missed a few there too..... but we need to be "productive" according to those in charge LOL
Thanks Candice for taking time out to update us on what is happening re the class 90 faults, but I'm sorry, but this should not have been released in its present form until it was fit for purpose As a former Project Manager in IT, myself before I retired, it is so important to test thoroughly for all events before any releases are made. There's nothing worse than putting out a release to later find that there are errors that then need to be fixed. Sadly this is happening far too often with DTG and must be addressed going forwards. You must remember you are there for the customer who is parting with their hard earned cash that keeps you in business. If mistakes happen on a regular basis, then you could loose confidence in your customers with your product and they may decide to go elsewhere. I hope this is not the case. You have a brilliant product, but as in IT, there are always faults. But these need to be addressed without delay to the customers satisfaction. Please take time out and put things right, but don't take too long, or you will loose customers. Please also look at your customer base and what they want. It's great you pushing out new routes and loco's, but a lot of your core business is in heritage trains of the 1960's and 70's. Would be great to see a class 50 etc, without getting off topic too much. So in summary, learn by these mistakes and move on with your customers happy. You have a brilliant product, let's make it even better!
It’s good to know that something is being worked on but.. and it’s a big BUT.. you cannot complain that customers who’ve paid hard cash for a product that doesn’t work as it should are unhappy about that! If we were face to face in a shop and you said that to me, I’d be, let’s say, not happy. So, sorry Candice you’re out of order. If you bought a TV and it didn’t work properly and you returned it to the shop and they blamed you for it not working and you told you’re being unproductive by complaining, how would you feel?
Thx for your input… given the error could be worked around by using the hud , I was still thinking of buying it and maybe will, but the comments by Candice don’t exactly make you want to open your wallet.
- that's not a very productive attitude (sarcasm if it wasnt clear) in all seriousness, i agree with you there. but in my case i have no control and just end up buying the DLC anyway because i am a stupid fool
Apologies if this has been already noted, but has anyone else noticed that when the weather is set to be wet after a short while all of the cab textures will become wet? You get the speckly pattern on everything inside the cab and the horizontal surfaces, for example the bits to the left and right of the driver's seat where the brake and power controls are, get the same shiny and reflective look that platforms do in the rain. (This is on PlayStation 5.)
