It’s clear we all like the great work and attention to detail by Firefly. It would be cool as we already have JT and AAS concentrating on new routes in the midlands and north if Firefly could concentrate their excellent work in the south to balance things up a bit, by South I include areas to the east and west.
You're assuming that they haven't yet decided on future projects which, given the lengthy development time, they almost certainly have.
Yeah definitely . So I've just got home from work and tried again on a few different timetable services and it's still happening. I've also tried replaying some of the services I've already completed and I know it was working then, and now it's not. And again tried with the 465 and it works fine. The dash lights up on the 375's display showing the safety system activated but there's just no audible bell, press circle and it deactivates. So it's working, just no sound for it???
Just tried this on my PS5, on the current retail build. Works fine for me. AWS, DSD and Vigilance, all correctly play their audio. No changes have been made to this. Also had it confirmed by another friend of mine that is on PS5. So might be something wrong with your audio setup? Do you have the alerts set to come out of your Dualsense?
I might be wrong but I believe on the preview stream one of them said they do not have an affinity to a particular region and will do what they like, wherever that may be. I would definitely love to see some South Western content though, especially if it means they will be sorting out the 455 and it's incredible motor sounds. I could not imagine anyone better for it than ItsYa165.
Ah ok, thanks man! Clearly something to do with my end 100%, so weird that it works with the 465 but not 375's. So can't be anything to do with the dual sense. I've just thought maybe I should try it with headphones rather than through the TV and see if that helps. I feel like making a video now to prove I'm not going mad If I get chance tomorrow after work I'll try headphones and completely restarting the PS5 instead of loading it from quick play. Who knows, some weird stuff going on with my PS5. Thanks all for trying to help, as a first time poster always daunting making your first posts and I'm kind of a noobie to TSW too
Don’t worry about that at all, we’ll try and help you get to the bottom of it. Shutting down the console and booting fresh is always a good idea.
I keep getting this weird lighting bug on the windshield of the Class 700 since the last update, it wasn’t there before. The windshield flickers a light blue colour. It was present throughout my journey. For reference I’ve added the service and settings I used. PS5 Pro
Had a rather pleasant drive along the route last night, 7pm-ish, dusk into night, Tonbridge to Paddock Wood, Paddock Wood to Strood.. tbc tonight! Wow! The evening ambience, the lighting, the atmosphere it all creates.. it’s a level above anything I’ve really seen in TSW before! Can’t wait to continue driving over this mini-network style map you’ve blessed us with! (also, is there an option to shut the main vestibule to cabin door, in cab? It seems to do it automatically..)
I've been taking the 465 out in steaqd of the 375 and by gawd its beautiful. Im pretty useless with words but this is hands down the best UK route, even beating shap imo. I was never the biggest BR era fan so having something the same quality as shap but in the modern era is actually amazing, Loving the freight and LOVING the runs bewten Strood ad Paddock Wood. Managed to get mastery completed using only SEHS section runs too...
Have you tried running the Class 33 as there seems to be an issue with a lighting flicker if you have a slight amount of fog enabled? That would rule out the sparks as the cause. See also my post in the Troubleshooting section about it.
I’ve not seen anything of the sort Vern. Can I have the headcode, time of day, date, weather etc and your in-game settings please.
You’re not the only one I’ve also had no sound for safety systems in the 375 on PS5, works just fine on every other train though
Was this the 375/6 or 375/3 because ive done a few runs in the /6 and the AWS ding, dings as does the "beep beep beep" dsd thingo
sorry if this is a dumb question, but are the safety alarm sounds set to come via your dualsense speaker? i have heard of people having issues with AWS/DSD sounds not working and that being fixed by turning off the controller alarm/signal light settings
I’m going to try a run later with no fog enabled to see if the issue is still there. It’s the first time I’ve seen it on MVL, done plenty of night runs with the 700 and never had my whole screen turn blue like that. It would make sense to see some flashes of blue on your screen from the juice rail, but not to point where it gets disorienting. I definitely think the update altered something, I can’t be 100% sure though.
Those are the 3rd rail sparks, it is not a bug. Before we updated the 700 they were also reflecting in the windscreen through the bottom of the cab which was non-sensical.
I think the problem is having fog enabled, which I never did on my previous runs. It’s giving me that “scattering of light” effect, where light is scattered in different directions. Fog is essentially water droplets that exist in the fog. The burst of light that surges from the juice rail is more intense and creates a brighter flash on my screen. That would be my conclusion.
Well yeah, if there is moisture in the air any light source is going to be more visible, but then that’s realistic. It’s why the light cones from the signals are visible in mist and fog rather than being invisible where there is no moisture in the air. So it’s inevitable that if there is fog or rain in the weather mix the 3rd rail sparks will be more visible.
This has only become noticeable since one of the recent core updates. As noted in the Troubleshooting section I have had it with the 33 and just the other evening the 158 on MML. It’s a horrible effect like a constant opaque flickering on the edge and to the side of the windscreen, almost like looking at a migraine. The game has never done that before with a little fog enabled.
I appreciate the realistic approach, nothing wrong with that. The only way around it for me is to just not play with fog enabled during night runs, which I can do. I’m more of a day time w/ light clouds kinda guy anyways
I have to agree with this, I personally haven’t noticed that obscure blue flickering effect either since the last update. If it was present before, then it wasn’t as intense and off putting. If it’s a fog related issue that is causing it then I won’t play with fog enabled anymore during night services. I honestly thought my TV settings were the culprit at first as my TV uses display Ai upscaling features (LG C5).
I’m trying the 700 at night with fog right now and am genuinely not sure what it is you’re talking about. I can say though that the blue flash has always been there, is the illumination of the 3rd rail sparks and is working exactly as designed.
Again, genuinely not sure what you’re talking about. We have done absolutely nothing here, this has always been like this and is a fundamental part of UE4’s lighting system.
I’m sorry if my comment is coming across offensive, that is not my intention. I haven’t noticed huge bursts of blue flashes from the 3rd rail sparks on my screen to this extent before, that’s all I’m saying. I will test some other routes when I jump on later and see if it’s more widespread. That hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the route though. This and B2C is all I’m playing right now.
Not at all, no worries. I’m just trying to get to the bottom of whether or not something else is going on. I just drove the 2 700 services back to back and didn’t see anything I wouldn’t expect though. It might be that you wouldn’t have seen this on the 700 previously as it didn’t have 3rd rail sparks previously, we added them as part of the package of train updates with MVL. We also then had to disable the windscreen reflections as the sparking was reflecting in the glass, much like used to do on the 465.
Me too. I've been driving the 700 services without issue, especially now I have the sound mod. The only thing that bothers me is the persistent fog. No other graphical glitches.
So completely rebooted the PS5, loaded up the game and same thing again. No sound on 375's, 465's working fine. So then I tried with my headphones (which is how I usually play when the kids are asleep) and surprise surprise it works absolutely fine! No issues with it on either 375's! Tried it with headphones in, without even pausing the game disconnected them and tried it without. No sound again! So clearly it's some type of audio issue on my end. Like I said I mostly play with headphones anyway so no big deal, maybe I need to take a look at my PS5 or tv sound settings but just glad it's working. I was thinking I was going mad Thanks for trying to help me, now off for a run down to Paddock Wood
375 audio is somewhat broken on PS5 - seemingly only pulling through audio at around 1% intended levels… interesting it works on headphones for you though; will try that tomorrow
Yeah I probably should have wrote this is regarding the safety system activation sounds, not the traction sounds unfortunately. That's still be worked on
i just did a run in the 375/3 (i have been using the /9 and 700 on shorter runs until now) and while i am having the traction sound issue (i know its being worked on) i have the AWS dings and DSD beeps coming from the telly and working fine.. I have had random issues on my PS5 with DLC not showing up when it IS installed or layers randomly showing/dissapearing with each boot (that i am having difficulties in having others be able to replicate) but sounds seem to be working as intended (across MVL and a few others i play regularly)
I honestly have no idea what's going on with my PS5/TV . Glad it's working for you though, it honestly was driving me mad because I hate playing without safety systems lol.
i think its just weird shenanigans with the Sony rather than MVL, its hecticly weird that some PS5's have issues on MVL and others dont. For me the route that just wont act right is the GWER. layers showing up and dissapearing everytime i turn on TSW, heck i would rater blurry textures as i could at least still play... but having DLC just go missing is weired as heck.
it is a 64GB limit as far as i was aware. unless there is a different way of the game calculating how big a DLC is, adding together all the DLC for the GWER doesnt come to 64GB. I dont have any BR or Steam content installed as of the moment, just UK modern
I’ve tried with both and have had the same issue , and other train and sounds are working as they should
I need a full breakdown of your Audio setup, including what options you have set on your PS5, and in game for TSW. I can't replicate this, safety system audio is working fine for me on PS5.
It could definitely be that. The 465 does not have the feature where sounds come out of the controller as it’s an older train but the new 375 will have. Just check the setting to be sure before ruling it out as a cause, assuming you haven’t already. Go to Settings - Controls - Controller Settings - Audible Alerts through DualSense controller - and make sure that’s set to zero for the sounds to come through the TV. Note - I don’t have this route but that’s the only thing that I can think of that would cause this issue for just a couple of players.
As Fawx says please make sure you provide as much information as possible about any bugs you're encountering otherwise they can't be replicated. Personally I am not having any issues with safety systems on PS5.
I‘ve tried with both connecting headphones through the PS5 controller and headphones directly into my monitor , there may be some connection issues at play but it only seems to be the 375 variants on this route I have any issues with , I might try and reinstall the route .
There was a North American streamer, King Kaye iirc, who was having a similar issue of alert sounds coming via the telly even with headphones plugged in. It also turned out to be the dual sense speaker being a bother. 100% worth checking that setting and cranking it down to zero
