DTG have announced the GBR Class 802 for ECML.

Woohoo.

Yea why is this another dlc on one of the most boring routes there is.

 

Saw 802 on the roadmap graphic and immediately thought ahh Hull Trains for ECML.

Needless to say; "my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined"

I can't see this selling very well.

 

Such a cop out.

 

Why even announce it when all you can do is give us crude details is what I’m wondering

 

to me it looks like a reskin

 

Hopefully with do the Lincoln services now

 

I am also curious about what's going to happen to all the other services on the routes when playing the GBR 802 timetables on ECML and Riviera.

Because it'd be wierd seeing this but the EMT 158s along ECML or GWR 150s and 166s plus XC Voyagers on Riviera

 

If they are using the ECML and the RVL it would've been nice to utilise the 801 alongside the 802 instead of just the 802.

Not that I will buy it, anyways.

 

Skimmed right past that while reading the roadmap. Not going out my way to get that lol.

 

Be nice to have some new locos instead of reskins of the same one

 

At best this should be free. At worst it’s a waste of time.

ECML is already pretty bland & there are any number of potential DLC’s that could have been produced for it, but alas we’ve got another AT300, which TSW so badly needed more of.

 

Hoping if they’re changing the ECML to include this then the 90 can get incorporated too.

 

Are the 800’s becoming the new 66?

 

This is one of those things that's kind of cute if it's a freebie, but if it's even like a $2 pack my interest is going to lower well into the core of the Earth. And the fact they didn't come out and flat out say it's free is making me think it's a paid pack.

 

It's possible (note that I said possible) that they'll do with this 802 reskin the same thing they did with the HSP46 at BostonProvidence (giving it away for free to those who already owned BostonWorcester) giving it away for free to those who own the ECML or RivieraLine

Waste of resources both in game and real life

 

Interesting the article says there will be a power change mode included but you wouldn't actually benefit from it neither on ECML nor on Riviera, except *maybe* for some shunting on ECML sidings.

If GBR completely substitutes LNER in game, you could use that change mode on Fife Circle though

 

While it's laughable this will be most likely a standard priced Loco DLC, it's positive to see they can work well with GBR meaning a higher chance of easing the licencing process in the future

The only operations the 802s actually do on the ECML are Hull Trains services.

Which will not become part of GBR...

Obviously it's a licensing cop-out but still.

I sincerely hope we don't start seeing GBR routes/locos everywhere in-game. It's an abysmal livery.

Dovetail hopefully would have access to most ex-franchise licenses when they're taken over by DfT (think EMT, for example) and I do hope they take advantage of that to give us a diverse range of liveries rather than that.

Anyways; what a ridiculous premise for a DLC. Their most egregious money-grab yet?

Gotta have something from DTG to fill the void to TSW7 I guess, although a 377/6 & /7 would've been an easier (and more useful) stone to kill

 

Some of the comments I think are a bit strong in terms of discontent... But I think overall the sentiment around this is pretty consistent for the majority of people and myself.

When I saw it, I didn't really understand why 'it is a thing' at this moment in time. For starters for what it's worth this livery is entirely fictional at this moment in time, as I was under the belief that the GBR livery that DTG helped create, was just a mock up for its 'soft launch' and may be different to the actual 'confirmed' livery. I think its an odd decision to make an add on from it at the moment given there aren't any real references that actually exist. For once, I will concede this looks no different to something that has been created on creators club but just behind a paywall. (The livery is subjective anyway). I'm not against it, if it actually existed in the flesh, but it doesn't so as for now it's pretty fictional as far as I'm concerned until GBR releases a full livery on a real train.

Further more, this will come with a different timetable? (or at least a updated one for ECML). Again all the IETs operated by LNER that feature in the game are... Still in LNER livery and operated by them? And the other IETs are operated by Open Access Operators that the creation of GBR won't even effect. As for the Riveria Line, how would this even feature? All IETs on the GWR network are again, in GWR livery. Will these just turn up in the game in full, or on select units like name plates do?

And the interiors, where do you start with them?!

Yeah, don't think this appeals to me for the reasons stated. It seems a bit premature to feature any type of GBR content until we actually see some of the stuff in the flesh. I'm not against operators being updated where necessary and I do feel that could be an interesting rolling model where routes are updated to the current operator where necessary, but all we have at the moment for GBR is a couple of stickers saying "GBR Coming Soon" on the side of a couple of EMUs in privatised liveries. So yeah a bit premature in my opinion.

 

If it's free then fine, if it's a paid DLC hahahahaha

 

Why have they made this given that the livery doesn't even exist yet? There hasn't even been an interior mock-up so it'll more than likely just have the GWR interior.

 

Im done with reskins. Don't care if it's £4.99, £12.99, or comes with a free keyring.

Sounds like cash grab to this is if its a paid dlc.

 

One thing I have just thought of; the 801 on ECML doesn't currently have guard mode or announcements. This, presumably, will. Doesn't save the pack, though

The 802 adds nothing to Rivieria or ECML.

The only DLC that would benefit and that even has a route that would actually use the Bi-Mode feature is Fife Circle and we all know it won't be on there.

What we want for ECML is a Class 91 and Mark 4’s with DVT.
Or a Deltic. Or a Paxman HST.
Those would be a Day One DLC.
But a reskinned AT300, unless it comes with buffed sounds or something you can hear in the cab, a big no thank you from me.

 

I'm just underwhelmed by this one it has to be said. Do we really need another 800? This could've been a great chance to give us some real variety on ECML as Vern said

If (note use of the word it) this is paid content then this really says to me that DTG are in trouble. At least the train sim department is. Very concerning that they’d charge for this.

Just having a quiet chuckle, came to the news from having a go on the Solaris electric vehicle in The Bus. That actually has better traction sounds than the 800/802 in game - at least you can hear them!

 

Jesus. Do they really think many people are going to put money out for this. DTG really have started to lose the plot and I really wonder where they are headed with the game.

 

Im certainly not buying it what a waste of resources. When there more important things they could be using their time on. SERIOUSLY DTG WHATS WRONG WITH YOU.

 

I'm always been firmly in the camp of DLC is optional and no is forcing you to buy it. But where is the demand for this? Nevermind the value for the money

Ridiculous its a paid reskin but not a surprise why not add a new loco like 730 to BCC and Birmingham Crewe that would be worth paying for

This is very concerning because what this says to me is that DTG are so desperate for revenue they’re reskinning things juts to make a note or two.

Pure speculation, but I think the writing is on the wall.

 

Was new br blue grey mk1s with a few versions we didn’t have in game so yes

 

I will probably give a pass, I prefer to play the route with its current rolling stock and liveries.
