Hi there, given that there's a sale going on (as of March 20 on Steam) I'd like to give a hearty recommendation to anyone who's still on the fence regarding the Mildmay Line - as I was until yesterday. Goblin was nice but did little to change my notion that you can't really simulate a busy inner-city route in TSW (yet?). Mildmay seemed Goblin-like, quite short, and with a train I wasn't that interested in. But with the price down to 20 €, I took the plunge. If you have the layers, it is on another level. There is so much detail in everything, and it feels like a lot of care and dedication went into it. The fact that one guy made it makes this even more impressive. There is constant movement on the line itself and all the other lines it touches or crosses, with everything from (surprisingly many) 66-hauled freight trains to Pendolinos on the WCML, also many apparently handcrafted or at least tweaked buildings and lots of little things to see while exploring on foot. One big negative though: I've had two crashes so far, something I've never had before in TSW - both while walking along the tracks. And a niggle: If you look closely you'll see a lot of imperfections like objects clipping into each other or slightly floating bits of track/ballast if looking from the side, but that's there just because everything is so dense and nothing you'd notice while driving. I love making screenshots on this, here are two of them. Can't wait for the coming extension.
I'm definitely getting as soon as the Richmond extension comes out. It looks great and I enjoy self contained routes.
This is a route I've rarely played recently but only because I'm waiting for Richmond section to be released. The actual route as it is at the moment is incredible, full of life, a variety of services and so many various AI traffic. I've spent time at Stratford on the game and it's never quiet, just how it is in real life. When the Richmond section is released, I've no doubt this will become my most played route in the south east. Definitely worth the money.
The Goblin has always been a sleepier line than the North London Line (Mildmay in "new money"). Not only in terms of service regularity, freight and passenger numbers but also because it serves the leafier Victorian suburbs of the capital. The Mildmay fringes inner-London until you get beyond Gospel Oak. I think the different atmospheres of the two routes seems about right with the exception of the ghostly empty expanse of platforms at Barking.
I'm waiting for the Playstation Spring sale to start next week, then I'll pick this up if it's in the sale. I could buy it on Steam, but I like to play TSW on a big TV.
Will be interesting to see if someone is brave enough to create the weekend Suffragette, Mildmay and Lioness line scenario. Barking Riverside to Watford Junction via Hampstead Heath, Willesden Junction Low Level and Wembley Central.....
I had no idea that had ever happened. It'd be quite a long, dull all stations drive. When did that happen? Was it due to an event or engineering?
It's been happening on a test basis most weekends with 710's. I think I've seen them going from Stratford to WJLL via Primrose Hill and I've also seen Barking Riverside to Watford via WJLL. I think it's to keep both sides of the route open during engineering works.
Dont bother plays like a dog performance is bad. I brought it played it once and was disappointed. But then most routes play like that on ps5
Yeah it’s a really fab little route that I find myself coming back to occasionally. When the Richmond extension drops I most likely be playing it even more. The blurry textures are kind of annoying on console, but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying the route. I hope Johannes fixes that.
I really like what he's done with Stratford. The amount of times I've stood on that platform waiting to for my train home, even though it's TS72 on the Central and 710s covering for Elizabeth Line and GA trains it feels and sounds like it should. It just needs endless announcements about delays and last minute platform changes added.
This is one of there better ventures when they correct the blurring Textures & put the finally part of the route in (the Richmond extension) it should look quite the screen shots they showed in last Road-Map (6th April 2026) looked rather good
I asked a question about this yesterday and got the following answer: Q: For Mildmay, is texture optimisation part of the work? "Generally, we're trying to ensure all of our processes now include checks for textures and optimisation more closely, however it's not quite clear yet the final scope of the work whilst Johannes from Incredible trains complete the work." Bit disappointing to be honest. I still very much appreciate this DLC and the work that has gone into it (and especially the free extension), but I would at least expect optimisation around known problem areas.
I am looking forward to purchasing this when the extension is released, it does look like a very well modelled route and I do enjoy self contained routes like this.
I'm looking forward to the extension but I gather from the Roadmap video that it's going to be a while before it's out. It's worth getting as it is. If you start from Willesden Junction and do a round trip to Stratford it almost passes as a realistic shift. It's really well modeled. It's an area of London I know very well, I usually use the line for trips to Camden for gigs, Hampstead Heath for summer walks and Highbury & Islington for Arsenal matches and it's difficult to find fault with it.
Its been in the 0–3 month section since the March Roadmap, so hopefully it won’t be too long now. Moving onto bug fixes sounds like that the modelling and most of the hard work is complete.
Amazing route (w/ layers) and will be even better when the Richmond extension is added. Hopefully an extension to Clapham Junction is in the pipeline as well to complete the route
That would be really great, but unfortunately unlikely I think, because he's not going to extend this route further without making more money...
Yeah an extension to Clapham Junction would be incredible as it would allow for some nice freight runs from areas such as Dollands Moor. I dont think we'll go beyond Richmond which is reasonable. Johannes also reacted to a message which talked about bringing the 455 into TSW. If I had to take a guess, maybe he's porting the TSC 455/8 (found in PDL) to TSW to act as AI for Richmond? Or maybe he's just stirring up a reaction lol
I need to get this route as it nearly a local to me but would prefer a backdated pre 2006 when line to North Woolwich and Silverlink 313 my childhood on this line
A Southern version for BML would be nice too. I would hope the sounds are tweaked. They aren't awful on the TSC version but could be better.
I'll be honest I'm only familiar with the SWR 455s (RIP) with their Vossloh motors. Did he use AP sounds for the 378? Could see the same thing happening for the 455 if that's the case. Although if it's only acting as AI at Richmond I doubt a massive amount of effort will be put into sounds (which is understandable).
I assumed they used the same motors. On TSC it was more the track joint sounds if I recall seemed a little quiet yet the Desiros in the same route, had loud track joint sounds despite being quieter in reality. Not a big issue I guess. If it's just AI then no it doesn't matter as much. I would love to see a driveable 455 and a route to go with It in the future.
IIRC the SWT/SWR 455s received Vossloh motors at some point in the 2010s, with some having a sunflower on the side of a coach to commemorate the retractioning. The SN 455s retained their original EE507 motors till they went out of services. Me too, I'd love to drive them as the 455s are my favourite EMUs. Ever since moving onto SWR territory I've enjoyed sitting in the motor coach as listening to the motor sounds as I commute.
It did say on the roadmap he was working on another project. I'd be ecstatic if he's working on a route with the class 455. 1st Mk3 based EMU 1st SWR train 1st older UK EMU for a while Doesn't get much better than that. A class 450 could also be included which hopefully would also use AP sounds.
not sure if it’s been addressed already, but how will the timetable work once the extension is added? will it be a separate new timetable, or will the current timetable stay but reset to 0?
No it does not it's one of the worst optimized routes on Xbox. I've had to uninstall it due to how blurry it becomes.
I live fairly local to Richmond & worked in Richmond for the best part of 25 yrs & like remember the sliver link franchise it was around the days of the failed Connex South-Eastern franchise & the earlier days of South West trains
It’s a lovely little route but it’s due a major update. Optimisation and the sounds need attention! I think there’s only been one small update since the route was released.
I just completed my first run on the route, and had no blurry textures on PS5 Slim, so that was nice, and the route is amazing. Sadly, I can only score the route 46,547/10. Probably be 4,300,000/10 when the Richmond extension arrives.
I’m on Series X and with everything enabled it’s a blurry mess once you get anywhere near the ECML. Turn off the Azuma and a few of the AI only layers and it’s fine though.
If you are interested in creating scenarios for Mildmay then beware as this route only comes with 6 paths. (3 in each direction). Making it the equal worst TSW route ever released. (EDN-GLA being the other offender).
Just need the East London Line to finish of original overground routes not included lines out of Liverpool Street and Romford line
I wouldn't favour the East London line. I really hope the Richmond extension is it for the original LO lines. If we must have another part of the network, let's have the NE London suburban lines to Enfield, Chingford and Broxbourne. Something with some operating variation.
+1 Realistically though, it would either be the “Weaver line” network or the WAML to somewhere like Stansted - I don’t think both would be included in one route. The Overground services out of Liverpool Street interwork and double up to 8 coaches during the peaks, so there are some ECS movements to Chingford sidings throughout the day. Greater Anglia WAML services have a range of different stopping patterns, which would make things more interesting.
