for too long now, the daylight cycle and weather system in tsw has been unfit for purpose; tell me why it gets dark at 20:00 in june, and snows anytime you select rain between december and march. both of these are highly unrealistic and the whole system needs significant refinements to make it immersive
Yeah, just create a live weather version that rips the weather from one of the free weather API's that are available in the world. Genuinely don't understand why this hasn't been implemented now we are on version 6 of TSW.
https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...ties/i6873-tsw-route-annotations-live-weather Is a fantastic workaround for PC users, sorry consoles users i don't have a suggestion for you folks
I think not having the ability to choose rain between dec-mar is annoying, as it only let’s you select snow. Personally that’s not my biggest issue, I think the clouds could do with some improvements. They are way too much white and overexposed looking at times and not enough overcast looking skies and clouds looking darker. Overcast should be a new pre set weather condition. It’s very realistic here in the UK, most of the year the skies always indicate to me it’s going to pee down at some point 99% of the time, but it doesn’t always.
The most interesting thing is that on UK routes they set up config for a realistic sunset time, but the all the other countries... who needs them, anyway. I would also really want this terrible paleness in heavily cloudy weather will be fixed.
Glad you brought that up. Those pinky, orange sunsets need to go or toned down slightly. We get Miami, Florida looking sunsets that we see maybe 4 or 5 times a year if we’re lucky here in the UK.
Different weather and lighting presets for different regions? Yes, please. It'll never happen, since they haven't even been able to fix the sunset time for years. But we can dream about it.
I got that working earlier last year and it's excellent. However, I tried to reinstall it once TSW6 came out and I can't get it to work. I'm definitely doing something wrong, but thank you for reminding me to give it another go.
It should have been standard from the start. An algorithm that detects latitude and longitude references a sunrise and sunset chart and applies those in game. However let’s face it, dynamic weather is still a total LOVEshow where it starts off sunny and five minutes later you’re in the thunderstorm from Hell which lasts the rest of the drive. Or sitting in a station with an overall roof you can see blue sky and glorious sunshine outside, but as soon as you depart it’s piddling down with rain. Or the weirdest of all on WCML Shap where the weather cycles between sunshine and full on rain every 60 seconds.
It is not only the live weather, it also refines the whole weather system with more layers etc. This is so fantastic! I doubt I would play as much TSW without this mod. It is really something which should be a core feature of the game. I'm happy that those things are possible now with the API without additional API Mods.
There is a workaround for this on PC, if you download GodMode, it allows you to manually set the temp, as any rain in TSW below between 1 - 0c ( i have found) automatically turns to snow. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c3-train-sim-world/c75-utilities/i2703-tsw-god-mode-alpha-066
Why does a user have to build this programme so that we can have live weather in TSW? This live weather tool https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...ties/i6873-tsw-route-annotations-live-weather is just brilliant. I once created a thread in the suggestions section asking DTG to please include live weather. Back then, I was laughed at, with people saying nobody needed live weather anyway. And today, loads of users are using the programme mentioned above so they can drive in TSW with live weather, and they don’t want anything else. So, dear DTG, why don’t you finally just build live weather into TSW? Many other simulators that haven’t been on the market for very long have live weather features, but DTG just can’t seem to get it right themselves.
Exactly. It also rains way more than it snows even up here in Scotland during our winters these years…
Not to mention that it has to be 0 or below for snow, that's cr_p we get snow from about 5c and below up here in the cairngorms, yet in TSW it will still be snowing at temp below -15c which is a little unrealistic in the UK, coldest I've ever seen it snow round here is about -8c
dtg know it’s broken but won’t fix it so move a thread about it to a subforum where less people will see it, can’t make this up can you
I'd love the option to disable fog, but keep dynamic weather on. Seeing thick fog come down at 2pm in July, then magically vanish, only to return 10 minutes later.... Feels more like Jupiter than Preston.
I remember when winters were winter, proper snow fall and frost, Temperatures below freezing. That’s rare now even in the winter months in the South. We did have a few cold snaps this year, but when I compared the climate now to 10 years ago, it’s not even close in comparison. Not that I’m complaining though, who doesn’t prefer warmer weather
We got lucky this year, had about 3 to 4ft of snow, was even snowed in for about 1 week, that hasn't happened since the late 90s and early 2000s, no new temp records tho lowest we got was -21c our record is -32c
-21c yikes! I wouldn’t be able to cope with those low temperatures. Wouldn’t you get severe frost bite just being out in the cold. I did warehouse job working in a freezer (-35c) many years ago. 20 mins in there I’d come out looking like popsicle, frosted nose, ears and beard. It was horrible
I’m in my thirties and as a kid I remember we got a good blizzard here and there. I remember one year in primary school we were stuck for a couple extra hours in school as a massive blizzard hit as home time was coming. Then in 2010 I’m not sure about England but Scotland we had a HUGE amount of snow that just kept piling up and ended up lasting for weeks on end. It was good as all schools were closed the snow was that bad. I remember the MASSIVE icicles hanging off the gutter at the back of my house. I’ve heard stories about what winters were like from people back in the 70s and 80s. They sounded hectic but fun . You’re absolutely right there’s a change of weather nowadays. Winters have become warmer.
Beleave it or not -20c doesn't feel that different from -3c, below -25 to -30 that's when you really feel it in your breathing, and below -10 to -15 just make sure not to touch metal surfaces without gloves for to long frostbite is very sneaky you can really hurt yourself before you even realise something is wrong.
