Hi all, I've had this issue for a while now, where some (all?) third-party timetables show the wrong name on the selection screen as you can see from this expertly-annotated screenshot below. The two timetables highlighted here are DTG's Evero 2025 TT and Fawx's WCML 2024 TT, but for some reason Fawx's is taking the name of the other one. I believe I had this issue even before the Evero TT was released, where Fawx"s would show the name of the original default TT. When you click the timetables you can identify them by the different trains on offer in the list, so it's not a showstopper, but I'd like to see if there's a way to correct it, and also check if everyone's seeing this or if it's an issue with my game. Off the top of my head I've also noticed it with the BCC route and I think on GWE-R. As other PC players will know, there are a whole load of excellent timetable mods out there allowing for busier routes, unusual moves or changes in time period. Some of my favourite in the latter category being Mad31Basher's 1998 ECML TT and 25kV's Preston to Carlisle 2019 TT, along with OTS's various TTs Any help much appreciated ! JB
Thought I'd bump this up as I initially posted it on a Saturday evening. Can anyone confirm they're at least seeing the same behaviour and that it's not a "me" issue? What's strange is that it's only doing it with certain community-made timetables, whilst others are showing their correct names. JB
Yes sir - same issue here as well. I've created my own timetables in fact using Editor and have not been able to determine why in-game the Description shows up incorrect. Very baffling.
I've figured this out after some testing - why the timetable description shows up incorrectly and it has to do with the way the timetable is made in the PC Editor. Each timetable when created is hardcoded with a code along with a description/timetable name. When someone goes in and copies it, edits it, makes a new timetable from it and even gives it a new name/new description, the game still recognizes this as the original timetable and will not always show the edited name. The correct way to make a timetable is to make it from scratch in the PC Editor, it is possible to copy services from other timetables, but has to be a unique timetable with unique timetable ID for the description/name to always show up correctly in the game. So this mystery is over.
This is interesting, thanks for investigating. I haven't spent much time in the PC Editor but I would have thought there was a way to make a "clean" copy of an asset and force the Editor to give it a new ID. Could the masses of duplicate engines / units we see when selecting a timetable / service come from a similar issue, I wonder?
The PC Editor remains a huge landscape to navigate - I am afraid to start tweaking/modifying the locos/vehicles I've become pretty good with route timetables from experience but your thinking is consistent with what I discovered with each asset needs to be generated from scratch and copying does not seem to give it a new ID when the game runs. I wish there was more documentation/support for the PC Editor. But as you said the timetables still work and it's not a deal breaker having the wrong title you do know from the services but the people that make these mods should do it right from the PC Editor so these issues don't happen in game.
