Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger pulls 7,800 ton modern container freight consist Not quite the "Big Boy" but this was the design before that which heavily influenced it. The Challengers were the more numerous option on the lower grade rails (under 1%), while the 4-8-8-4 "Big Boys", fewer in number, handled the slightly higher grades over 1%. Yes, it's fairly flat but it's still remarkable that it can haul that many tons, giving comparable performance to a modern SD-40 (or for those in the Soggy Isles, similar capability to the Class 66)

Such a wonderful surprise seeing a BR 218 in real life - a memory I'll cherish. Here BR 218-451 is seen at both Dusseldorf Hbf and Krefeld Hbf operating an RE10 service to Kleve (a town in North Rhine-Westphalia): All pictures taken by me
Been a while since I’ve been on here! 37884 departs Kilmarnock after dropping off 769455 for C6 Exam at Brodies with the main man Rob at the controls
Saw this down at the port of Halifax while visiting the immigration museum. A real shame looking inside to see how much water damage it has. In the other direction I could see the Ocean sleeper train getting ready to depart in the distance.
I spotted this outside the engineering depot between Bexhill and St Leonards Warrior Square today and for all the years I have cycled past this area, I have never seen anything like this train before.
